that guillotine riff is soooo good, miss the escape the fate from dying is your latest fashion
If you’re interested check out the album Just Like You by Falling In Reverse (Ronnie Radke’s new band since early 2010/11). It has some Dying is Your Latest Fashion vibes but in an evolved sound. They have the songs The Guillotine IV (The Final Chapter) & My Apocalypse II.
Dude I cracked the biggest grin when he started that chug

@@thelonewolf7443 my ears bled
@Limitless What is?
I miss the days when life was simple and post hardcore was all that mattered in life
Ouch, my feels.

Please Nik react to Stain The Canvas : Like a God And Hell Made Me . UP PLEASE!!!!!!!! FOR HIM SEE THIS
Definitely... I miss those days.
i swear, Monte have the best solos in this genre.
Check this dude's solo
ua-cam.com/video/kpgiiFtTLaU/v-deo.html
You mean that Dragonforce sounding solo?
@@geirisk8 interesting
@@geirisk8 well he is using an egen so that is what I should sound like
He's a beast!
The Ambient leads is the most
"sleepingwithsirensY" thing ever
Dissonant Chords is almost exactly a SWS riff I've heard before.
I had this exact thought
@@NikNocturnal you are personally attacking me
Please Nik react to Stain The Canvas : Like a God And Hell Made Me . UP PLEASE!!!!!!!! FOR HIM SEE THIS
There is simply too much talent in this collaboration
I haven’t replied to your comments in my years of seeing you, but at 12:30 on this channel, I’m befuzzled. Goodnight sir
Dude why are you everywgere it is stupid at this point
☠🗣
Why are you everywhere.... Like literally 90% of the channels I watch
it's this guy again
The difference between Monte’s solos and riffs compared to everyone else’s in the scene is that his music has emotion in it
Thats why ETF has no emotion now :(
They started to suck after Monte left. He was amazing.
Please Nik react to Stain The Canvas : Like a God And Hell Made Me . UP PLEASE!!!!!!!! FOR HIM SEE THIS
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
David Souvannarangsy You know exactly what you’re talking about. *MY MAN*
Everything past level 7 is essentially metalcore at that point lmao
Metalcore: Add singing, EDM and fancy Electronica, and melodic guitary stuff.
Hardcore: Mainly heavy and breakdowny.
In most cases anyway.........
@Stephen j post hardcore is Fugazi / Helmet. Everything in this video is just hardcore or metalcore
Posthardcore is such a broad genre and here all that's played is mainly 00s/10s metalcore influenced by posthardcore (Sleeping with Sirens, Escape the Fate, etc.) that has little to do with everything else of the genre.
@@TheLemonKiller isn't that the other way around? I always thought it was the other way around hence the name *"post-"* because of the mixing from different genres mainly EDM and ambients
@@ze-ce.cra_ Honestly. A lot of these Sub-Genres are so similar with maybe a minimal change here or there it gets kind of hard and confusing when you really try and actually define which is which.
At a certain point they cross over so much the lines get a little blurred hence why so many of em. I mean, we've got thousands upon thousands of various Sub-Genres: Black Metal, Black doom Groove metal, Beatdown, Death Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Neo-Classical Doom Metal, Heavy Hooker Crust Punk Hardcore Swedish Electro Grind Core, and I mean. Obviously I'm just coming up with shit off the top of my head. But the point remains the same.
I understand the need or want for labels and titles.
But at some point ya gotta ask. When is enough enough?
2:06 math rock lesson ins't useless anymore
Hah, I recognized that too
;)
“Post Hardcore is so basic.”
Monte Money: “Hold my guillotine.”
Old ETF is so damn good and Monte was a huge part of it. Their last few albums haven’t hit for me and you can tell the songwriting quality dropped after he left
I definitely second this!
True very true I love Escape The Fate but it’s not the same without him
I disagree with quality but he was a big part and that's why they've changed a lot
Look im a huge escape the fate and falling in reverse fan, but seriously.. ronnie was only there for one album, so escape the fate with ronnie didnt really set any bar or standard for the band. The band as a whole decided to move on, and personally, craig came in and initially killed that shit. Craig does heavier music on his side band, he very talented. Also remember this, record labels decide what gets put out to the public. 😅🙃
Monte was literally the soul of their music. It's pretty much just washed out garbage with no grasp on what's really important now.
I’m convinced that Monte Money changed the game when it came to solos for Post-Hardcore in 2006. Back then only metalcore and other harder hitting core genres had complex solos and he pretty much took the best elements of metalcore and put them into post-hardcore.
Im not very familiar with metalcore or post-hardcore and i was wondering what the difference is between them and also between them and, say heavy metal in general
Only guitarists keeping post-hardcore guitar riffs alive are Will Swan and Lee Malia.
@@davidsoux uhm, Beau Burchell???
@@benlooper5394 Post-hardcore is the evolution of hardcore music which came from hardcore punk. Metalcore is Metal + Hardcore. So Post Hardcore think old Escape The Fate , Blessthefall. Metalcore think: As I Lay Dying, A7X or Killswitch. I can understand how it's a bit confusing. Post-Hardcore bands have pretty much died if not have transitioned to metalcore. Blessthefall for example is now a metalcore band in my opinion. Escape The Fate also transitioned to metalcore by third their self-titled album.
@@himawarii_gg for sure. Saosin rocks
Monte's guitar work was always my favorite thing about Escape the Fate. He's just so damn good at writing catchy riffs and solos.
Level 1: A Day To Remember
Level 2: Underoath
Level 3: ?
Level 4: Pierce The Veil
Level 5: ?
Level 6: Escape The Fate - The Guillotine
Level 7: Sleeping With Sirens
Level 8: Blessthefall
Level 9: ?
Level 10: Beyond Unbroken - Falling Down
Level 2 is more like Bullet For My Valentine
@@w0rkspace these are actually riffs from these bands, perhaps?
@@klap00 6 sure is the guillotine but im just not hearing the drug in me is you
The later half of 3 was like August Burns Red I thought.
@@ramondijkgraaf3805 it reminds me of the solo
Made me smile at 1:42 when he played the Guillotine riff! One of my favorite songs, ever.
Level 6: The Guillotine
1:43..Hey wait a minute that sounds...familiar
1:47 ...WAIT A MINUTE
1:52 ..oooh shiiiit he dropped the guillotine on us!!
Wow! Escape The Fate original guitarist!
1:43 when they thought you play boring then you did play a riff that made them look easy at 1:52 XD
but the song fucking slaps
I don't normally comment, but I had to for this one. Best collab you've done to date. You and Monte had the best synergy. Gotta see a collab with him for a full original song!
Thank you, glad you dig it!
That scream at 0:02.. I felt that..
my first attempt of the practice session
I was SO hyped when Monte released his own playthrough of This War Is Ours. The biggest thing about it is, his tone actually sounds like the recording. And you can tell it was recorded on the spot because there were some minor stylistic changes in how it sounded.
YO you got Monte money in a vide?!? Hell yea
He's dope!
monte is probably my favorite guitarist ever. used to blast etf all the time back when i was learning guitar. i could never play their riffs when i was learning but they inspired me to start playing
ive always admired monte as a guitarist, love his tone, sounds so organic
Hes pretty awesome max green is as well hes got a new band called violent new breed should definitely check them out
2:16 Good old 4/5/6/3 anime chord progression
Damn man, that sweep with fast drums sounds really insane!
Thank you!
Monte solo in falling down is amazing and i cant wait till i can hear that live
Post-Hardcore use to be my life in high school. Monte was my favorite during that time. Its been a couple of years since I've listened to this music so regularly and hearing and seeing him play these riffs brings back so many memories and feelings
The Guillotine lmao
I've never clicked faster in my life!!! Monte money!! My favorite guitarist😍
Level 2 was so on point it gave me flashbacks to house shows I use to go to lmao
2:49 gave me some serious Syn vibes. Monte's a beast for sure.
Monte's my inspiration, cool he's still in the game
Yup mine too
This sounds more like Metalcore to me. Where's the At the Drive-In or Thursday-style riffs?
I agree, some of these could be more metallic style post hardcore riffs like poison the well, but it mostly just sounds like metalcore to me
Most close to post-hardcore: 0:13, 0:25, 0:48 and 2:02 being 0:48 the most closest of the genre.
Wait to you hear with vocals
@@wyatttacey6181 And even then, Poison The Well was part of the second wave of Metalcore that came after Swede bands like At the Gates, Soilwork, etc. Even now, PTW smokes most of the shit that's around currently.
doom metal stereotypes
Thall stereotypes
Glam metal stereotypes
Grind stereotypes
Slam stereotypes
10 levels of death metal
10 levels Black metal
All on the to-do list
Thall stereotypes: WEEEE bow bow bow WEEDLY bow + saying Thall + probably being from Sweden. I don't really know if there is anything else 😆 Slam stereotypes will be hilarious though
Slam stereotypes seems like a wonderful video.
Thanks, let me know if you run out XD
The ambient lead is my favorite. I could listen to that all day.
fr im tryna find something like that
@@DemBlox Late to the party, but it sounds very 2005 Circa Survive-ish.
Nik, I never expected you to do a collab with Monte, but I am so glad that you did! Monte is my number one guitar hero and the reason I started to play guitar. I learned all of the songs on Dying Is Your Latest Fashion when it came out and haven't stopped playing since. I consider this an early Christmas present, so once again, thanks! Keep doing what you do and rock on! \m/
Ten levels of Mathcore.
Too many parabolas
@@NikNocturnal
God damnit Nik.
😔
Upppp😂
@@NikNocturnal you can invite Josh Travis and just watch him do the job)
I love how nick's intro are drop √π¶∆ tunned and the video goes probably in drop c
that underoath dissonant chords are pure heaven
Monte money has the best guitar solos change my mind
People will argue that they weren’t the most complicated, but they were catchy and tasty as hell.
@@EthanRom his guitar solos used to be complex asf. Before 2010 at least
Yeah, different genre of course, but all hail the late and GREAT Oli Herbert! No one matched his ability when I came to writing a hand-tailored solo for a song.
@@pjtyra2106 I meant more along the lines of metalcore/post hardcore. TBH I can't stand thrasher (current guitarist of escape the fate)
@@ChanceMannor Yeah, Thrasher is just a fast guitar player. He lacks what Monte brought to the band, which is emotion in his songwriting.
0:01
i'm sure i saw this in jurassic park dude
Damn, rly wish people still released music like this (if anyone knows any new bands with this kinda sound, I'm all ears)
Super cool to see Monte money is still active!
I didn't even know Monte still did music, this was a nice refresher. I've always wanted to see him and his brother make a proper comeback
I Monte's songwriting style, I really wished Beyond Unbroken had more recorded material, and nice video as always Nik 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Monte's one of my guitar hero.. Riff and solos!
the guillotine riff is the best out there, had to have a repeat button just for this occasion 1:42
Monte Money!
As a 90s phc enjoyer i gotta say level 2 did it for me the most
Drive Like Jehu the 🐐 no 🧢
the solo monte did at level 10 is unironically one of the best iever heard
🔥 🔥 🔥
Still waiting for monte gaming where we watch him play with a calculator for 7 hours
Cheers dude!
I didn't know that the lead and rhythm parts of The Guilotine were played in one performance O.O
Escape the Fate died when Monte left
This made me nostalgic, and seeing Monte playing the breakdown of Guillotine part 1... I wish I was 13 years again, life was so simpler
Hell yeah another post hardcore video
10 Levels of Screamo (you know, actual screamo like Orchid, Jeromes Dream, Off Minor, Pg. 99, Reversal of Man, You and I)
That crazy AF guitar solo is giving me Avenged Sevenfold type of sounds
So stoked to see Monty get more exposure!
Monte looks so happy in his element, it's good to see.
replayed this twice for that insane solo
SO STOKED FOR THIS. Love love love the fact that Monte played the break in The Guillotine
Beyond Unbroken is SO GOOD
I still come back just for the guillotine riff. It's just perfection.
montes riffs were always the best part of etf
Havent heard about Monte in such a long time :D what a breath of fresh air to see him again!
That first riff is giving me mad bullet for my valentine vibes.
If somebody like me wants to know what song was played on level 10, It's Falling Down + Heathens mashup by Beyond Unbroken
Oh I saw that Monte, doing the chugs to Guillotine part one, I saw that
Omg seeing monte playing the guitar again made me feel some type of way lol. He’s still got it!!!
Does anybody remember Glassjaw..... post hard-core legends!
Yes. Glassjaw is post hardcore. This 10 levels, not so much.
Glassjaw is incredible. Massive influence on me and so many bands. I listen to Worship and Tribute start to finish on almost a weekly basis lol.
Monte's tone is something else.
OH MY GOSH!
Monte is my fav one
1:43 The Guillotine... HELL YEAH!!!
there is something about pull-offs and chugs. i don’t know what but i love the
The 1st level octave riffs actually sounds great
do u know the song? :)
@@tangerine12most of the phc bands sounds like that
Is no one gonna talk about how godly the ambient leads sound?
The Dissonant Chords had a real "The Aftermath (G3)" feel to them.
10 levels of thrash metal
All I hear is..
CHARGE THE GATES
With rust on their gears
Just what I needed
Sweeps in Post-Hardcore? o.O
damnit nik i was perfectly happy in my metalcore phase right now but this makes me wanna dive back into my old pierce the veil and sleeping with sirens library of music
The smirk when he started playing guillotine 💀💀💀
ok but monte looks younger here than he looked when he was in etf
Maybe drugs
0s and Octaves all day bay-beeeee
This is so good!!!
that level8 melody,my favorite
Level 4 & Above is every Punk guitarists expectations
But Level 3 is what they sound.
Monte needs to do more guitar content!
I wish ambient leads and sleeping with ambience from the post hardcore stereotypes video were full songs
It’s crazy how insanely similar post hardcore and metalcore are
Didn't see a Monte collab coming but damn, nostalgia ain't the word (especially from level 2, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10... hell basically all of it to some degree), awesome stuff Nik 👌
Fuck, all parts with Monte fucking amazing!! 💥💣🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Jesus what a sexy fucking guitar solo at the end by Monte, such a badass guitarist.
Escape the Fate just has never been the same sing you left. Good shit! 🤘
Man seeing Monte play The Guillotine made me grin like a 12 year old hearing ETF for the first time
I was like "that's fine, I can do all of these", than the sweps in level 9 came in ;(
Very nice
That solo was fucking great
1:10 harmonic minor riff was really groovie . Just imagine how you can improve sound if you'll play it in baritone guitar.
