I could not imagine a better performance...I would like to thank each person who contributed to the making of this magnificent recording 🤗 And here is the text : the original title is "Echo" by Christina G. Rossetti. Come to me in the silence of the night; Come in the speaking silence of a dream; Come with soft rounded cheeks and eyes as bright As sunlight on a stream; Come back in tears, O memory, hope, love of finished years. Oh dream how sweet, too sweet, too bitter sweet, Whose wakening should have been in Paradise, Where souls brimful of love abide and meet; Where thirsting longing eyes Watch the slow door That opening, letting in, lets out no more. Yet come to me in dreams, that I may live My very life again though cold in death: Come back to me in dreams, that I may give Pulse for pulse, breath for breath: Speak low, lean low, As long ago, my love, how long ago.
Stunning! i listen this over and over again and it brings such a joy and goosebumps. What a beautiful voices, outstanding timing ….i get goosebumps! What a musicality! Thank you so much!
When I looked at the start of this score, I just saw three F major chords. But when this choir sings those chords I’m immediately whisked off onto a gravity-defying ride on a moonbeam. In that rare atmosphere we’re floating weightlessly in some liminal space. Maybe it’s that place where those souls brimful of love abide and meet. Anyway, it’s a miracle.
Fantastic pianist! But seriously, it's almost impossible to imagine how a choir with an average age of 21/22 (?) can achieve such an immaculate performance. Well done!
A truly sublime setting of words of love and loss, sung with such heart-piercing tenderness by one of the greatest choirs in the world. A revelation, and a wonderful gift from Ivo Antognini, Stephen Layton and the Trinity choir. Thank you to all involved, and RESPECT. ❤
Absolutely gorgeous! A clip of this popped up on my social media page last night and I had to investigate further. I listened several times and each time, I choked back tears with the quality of singing, the melody and words. Well done to this wonderful choir and the composer. Thank you. Such a gem.
Incredible performance, there couldn't be any better performance. Astonishing recording, the quality of the mixing and the stereo image is wonderful. Thank you!
This is a testament to what humans are capable of. Unbelievable. I hear Eric Whitacre style voice leading leaving cadences unresolved and rich in texture. I’m curious if Ivo is borrowing from Eric or if Eric has borrowed from Ivo. This is just a magnificent choral arrangement. Just wow
What a beautiful composition! And this warm and emotional rendition by one of the very finest choirs tops it all off. What an incredibly talented group (and director, sad to learn that he's leaving)! Someone already mentioned it, the brief moment of astonishment and admiration around 02:28 (check the soprano's) brings a big smile to my face too!
God bless you dear Ivo!!!What a beautiful song and what a fatntastic performace!!!!!!!! Gongratulations to all persons that participated and contributed to this performance! Bust of all to you Ivo for creating this fantastic work!!!
I wish you great success for this superb and majestic work! Ivo, your ability to write divinely luminous music is boundless and may you be blessed to continue to give light to the world. Mr Layton, thank you for your alchemical mastery with which you give us such sublime performances, where the human merges with the scores with such a great love. Thank you, Mario Fontana
Hi, the poem that I set to music is from Christina Georgina Rossetti, an English romantic poet (1830 - 1894) The original title of the poem is "ECHO" . Here is the text: Come to me in the silence of the night; Come in the speaking silence of a dream; Come with soft rounded cheeks and eyes as bright As sunlight on a stream; Come back in tears, O memory, hope, love of finished years.
I’ve posted the poem (public domain) twice in the last few minutes, but it’s disappeared. The title of the poem is “Echo” by Christina Rossetti. You can find the text online by Googling that information. Now I see the text has been left as a comment by the composer himself. Hopefully, that will not be deleted. 😎🎹
@@suzanba7As Galileo said: “Eppur si muove.” They still screech. And a lovely head tone would have realized the high volume because they are pitched at the top of the range. I love this choir. I just wish the director could rechannel that soprano who is just showing off and spoiling the work of the ATB.
Beautiful but I'm suspicious. Why does the solo girl put one leg forward. Is she more in favor with the choir leader? I've been in a choir where morals were way below the morals they sang about. I would appreciate the choir way more if I'm more sure of their commitment to Jesus Christ.
What an absurd remark. Helena is the Soprano soloist as stated. Perhaps you should look her up? I am a proud atheist, but I would happily play this at least once a week for the rest of my life - it is perfection.
Completely foolish, unnecessary comment. Instead of focusing on unfounded, hurtful speculation, celebrate the achievement of these remarkable musicians. Recording sessions are inherently a stressful process. We experience five minutes of perfection, but in reality, these musicians undoubtedly had to record this piece - and all the others on this album - multiple times to achieve the desired result. Standing as quietly as possible in one place for long periods of time, lazer-focused on giving ones best possible performance is exhausting work. It's no wonder that they were told to dress comfortably for these sessions, and it should be no surprise that from time to time, they might need to SHIFT THEIR WEIGHT, or hold their arms in ways that look odd to us, in order to stay comfortable, relaxed, and focused. And you post a weird comment like this? Unbelievable.
Singing technique involves filling the lungs with as much air as possible, particularly the lower lungs, by using the diaphragm. I assume that the ladies place their hands on their lower backs to check that they are filling the back of the lungs as well.
Don't over analyze it. To be a classically trained singer does involve a lot of breath work, but for the long periods of standing necessary for recording sessions, more likely the singers just find different ways to stay relaxed and comfortable.
I could not imagine a better performance...I would like to thank each person who contributed to the making of this magnificent recording 🤗

A privelege to have studied with you, Grande Ivo💯
They don't know it now. However, in 50+ years they will look back on this as one of the most treasured moments of their lives. How very beautiful.
What a brilliant remark, and really the essence of the text of the poem. The English just wonderfully have this stuff in their blood.
Your statement is so true. How wonderful for these young singers that they are part of this beauty.
I've thought that so many times. Thank you for saying it.

I come back every day to hear you sing this beautiful composition and it makes my day
Apart from a beautful, brilliant piece, a quite frankly stunning choir, can we also give praise to the superb recording?
You will never be fresher nor more beautiful than right now. I’m privileged to share of a few moments of wonderful life.
In this mad world..this brings me solace. Thank you, thank you!
This choir is very good. The basses in particular are exceptional 👌
Perfection. Life makes sense: Being alive just for this sound...

Kudos to their musical and choir director who was able to tease this out of them. Beautiful.
An absolutely gorgeous work magnificently performed by this extraordinary choir. This work should become a staple in the world of choral music.

An absolutely gorgeous choral work by Swiss composer Ivo Antognini. Beautifully sung and recorded.
the bass🥵🥵
They get no respect. But they are the foundation of this wonderful performance.
Beautiful ... Beautiful ... Beautiful 😌👏🏻
2.29 brilliant! The face of the lady in green directly to the left of the conductor after the soprano's hit those high notes 😅
2:29 🙄
What a superb choir! Just sublime.
The sound is so heaven-like 😭
Beautiful sopranos and basses

The sopranos are (sorry) shrilling exactly when they should be an angelic descant.
Wow! Beautiful perfomance.
Stupendo! Bellissima musica e bellissime voci!

Beautifully sung and conducted with such passion
Loved every minute 👏🥰
THANKS 🥰
Makes you stop and ask why anybody bothers to conduct if not with passion.
This is the chorus! This is just intonation!
Thanks for the great performance.
Pure Heaven......
Congratulation Ivo, so beautiful!

This is beautiful.
Beautiful beyond words. Thank you so much for this video.

Ethereal, silky and so poignant; Christina Rossetti would surely approve.....
Fabulous.
Soprano in green shirt @2:26, I see you :P lol
Where can I can find the lyrics for this song? This is stunning - I’m in tears ❤❤❤

I'm here for the piano.

Brilliant!
Wo finde ich den deutschen Text?
Is there any cure for the 24/7 ear worm this has produced?
The repeat button?
None, for me!
Yes! - the other 13 tracks from this session! But they will ALL get stuck in your head.
Words, anyone?

@@eugeneclasby518 ahh good. I meant I'm speachless though haha
Almost perfection, except for sopranos almost screaming. Not needed. Listen to the much maligned basses. They sing like angels?
I disagree. Screaming played no part. 'Brimful of Love' meaning overflowing with love, so you are allowed to sound joyful, as indeed they do.

Quite a few girls are holding onto their ribs, why? Does it have to be with breathing?
