  • Most fans of the Boston Pops Orchestra are familiar with its iconic recording of Jacob Gade's 'Jealousy' recorded in 1935.
To me, it never loses its appeal and especially so when Arthur Fiedler made a stereo recording of the piece in June 1972 in the Symphony Hall in Boston.
This version has been recalled on a DG 2-album set titled 'Evening At Pops-The Arthur Fiedler Legacy', issued in October 2007.On this recording Max Hobart is the solo violinist.
Max Hobart is a conductor and violinist.
He is currently the Musical Director of the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra and was formerly the music director of the Boston Civic Symphony.
Originally from Nebraska, Hobart grew up in Bell Gardens, California where he learned to play the violin. He later had private study with guitarist John Williams.
Now, let's see how the 1972 version compares with the 1935 original.
