russ actually has good mechanics when it comes to jumping and landing. and also falls a lot, rather than trying to absorb anything. plus he's been tweaking it since 15/16. mohawk russs jumped with speed & momentum, and landed in 3 'loud' steps, or a wide squat. since that this season he's jumped more vertically (straight up) and required less momentum enabling him to do a standing no step or one-step dunk. hence no more 'cocking the hammer' ball-behind-head tomahawks. pg&melo russ landed with straight legs, sometimes bending at the waist like scottie pippen. 18/19 russ (coming off injury) landed like he was trying to sit in a chair. taking several mini steps back/sideways, sinking into his hips, knees bent. houston russ held onto the rim a little more (like jordan). rotating his hips on landing, so landed softly in 2 steps, with some toe drag (see his 1st dunk from 18/19 vs kings or the dunk on porzingis). nb: this doesn't apply to every single dunk attempt each of those years but if you watch the dunk compilation you'll see a pattern.
