Yes. So is camping next to running water. It's very strange, because in wilder country, you still get that same feeling of comfort next to water or the percussion of rain on fabric, BECAUSE it drowns out the natural sounds of the trees and wild animals. I never worried much about mountain lion or bear next to the water, but up on the ridge, where it's quiet, it was a little creepy. First time I heard a female mountain lion's mating call, I doused the lights and chambered a round. Didn't know that's what it was. In any case, it's different, camping where there are big cats, wolves and/or grizzlies, and we get all 3 where I go.

I love the sound of the rain. It is so relaxing. I just realized, I think the older I’m getting.. 75 .. the more I really enjoy what is around me. The sky, the trees, the flowers, the rain and the snow. I get so much pleasure out of the world around me. I only wish I would have taken advantage of all this beauty when I was in good health.
