- Thank you for visiting my channel. This is Nick Ferry's design. I enjoy his videos, and was in need of a table saw sled. I really liked his design and the functionality of his sled. Check out his website for plans for this sled. Sorry I didn't recognize you more in the video Nick!

I hate being "that guy" but, why use a push stick if your other hand is between the fence and the blade? Keep your hands away from the blade.
Get your hands away from that blade!
Please don't feed your fingers into the area between the rip fence and the blade. Especially if that width is just a few inches. It isn't safe and it's what push sticks are for. Or use push blocks with handles.
I love my "Nick Ferry" sled. I eliminated the slots in the back support fence. Cleaner look and not needed since I drilled the top of the channels near the rear fence and can insert any length bolt that I want. Very handy.
👍
Muy bonito, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎖gracias por mostrar tu trineo de corte, el aditamento para cortes a 45 grados es perfecto!!!!
Nice build, this is almost exactly what I’ve in mind for my nerve fence.
Very nice build. The only thing I felt was missing was a demo of using the miter function
Yeah I guess I didn't really think of it...it was just my take on Nick Ferrys build...I can't take credit for any of it, as I got all my information from him...check his video out, its quite a bit better than mine....I appreciate you checking mine out though...take care
Perfekt gemacht.
Bzgl. Sicherheit ist dieses Modell noch ausbaufähig. Den Rest habe ich bei Anderen schon gesehen. Soviel Werbung aber selten.
Jeezzzz measure from the groves in the table top.. the first thing is to make sure the blade is square to table top
Neatly done..awesome job..however my pounded when i saw you hands so close to the blade..
Just finished building your sled. It's awesome and dead on accurate. Thanks for the clear concise plans. I did screw up the miter fences, putting the metal on the wrong side. My fault, your plans were clear. Just shortended the miter fences and reduced the triangle piece slightly and added 3/4 inch shim between fences and the triangle so the material would fit through the cutout. You never mentioned the reason for the miter tracks on the miter jig although I am sure it is for attaching a stop block to make repetitive cuts. Never saw that in the build or the video or plans. When making a stop block do I need to miter the stop block itself?
Hey Jim, I know this was done a long time ago but I wanted to ask, did you do a video on your homemade push block? I was just about to buy one then I thought I could probably build one. Just curious if you like it and if you've done a video on it
There was a video a while back...it was a fun build, but by the time you buy all the material (unless you have everything lying around) and the longevity, it might be a better idea to just buy the micro jig...I have wanted to build another one, just haven't gotten around to it...check out my videos...it was long ago so the quality isn't great...let me know if you end up making one....take care
Hi there where do you get 14ft to 20ft drywall sheets for the wall
Big box store, occasionally they will have 22.5 foot sheets too 😉
Subbed & rung the bell.
Congratulations
You even did a pdf project?
Thank you
Nicely done!
Thanks...it was nicks vision...I just made one for myself
Well, I may have to make a version for myself!
buenas me podia decir cuanto cuesta la platilla y que forma me puedo contacta con usted gracias...
The item that has been most commonly called a feeler gauge is actually a thickness gauge! It measures thickness not feel!
Stephen Bishop good to know, I recently purchased a thickness guage, so I'll have one from now on!
Actually Stephen is right, in auto mechanics shop I was taught “Feeler Gage” as you used it to feel the clearance when setting the tappets on an engine. That’s a long time ago before they had hydraulic tappets.🤣 So the name sorta stuck, but thickness gage is also correct. Go into a auto parts store and ask for either and you’ll get what you want.
Special thanks to Nick Ferry also, for this great design.
saturncjc no doubt...i built his spline jig after his first video, and used his design, this was 100% Nick Ferry's idea, design, and I love it!
Agreed. I built the jig too. Spline and tenon jig all in one. Also the clamp he designed. Works great!
@@saturncjc Could you tell me where to look for the clamp please??
question/problem... So, I blew through darned near an entire piece of maple trying to get the miter rails the right size. Finally, I said "screw it" and bought rails from Rockler. I don't know why everyone just cuts their rails right, but I couldn't. Got my fence dialed in to 0.0008 over 15.6". I put the rest of the screws into my fence to hold it in place, now the rails bind. Obviously, the fence is now out of square, but how can I remove material from the aluminum miter rails? Just sand down like mad with 60 grit? Seems like something mechanical, like a Dremmel, would be too uneven.
Not sure, i know that aluminum is soft, so im sure it could be sanded down or a grinding disc, but it would probably be faster and more efficient to scrap the large piece of plywood and cut another one of those.
The runners wouldn't actually need to be perfectly fit to the miter slots if you shim them in opposing directions (i.e. one to the left, the other to the right then they would be fine as the would be referencing just those edges in their respective slots.
I hate to be that guy but I feel bad for Nick. It was good of you to link up his video but this video is basically playgerism. I guess when you design, build, produce content and make plans for the best sled on the web people are going to take advantage of that. I hope you at least paid for his plans.
Kory James I think that is an excellent point. I will contact nick and ask his opinion. I know it does look one way, but I had no intention of stealing his hard work, just my take on it. I do appreciate your view on it though.
Kory James You’d have to go message the 100 other UA-camrs who have created a crosscut sled almost exactly like this.
As long as they claim it isn’t their idea and just showing us their process, then it’s cool.
Sorry you had a cold when narrating the video, but do yourself a favor and edit out the sniffles.
Do you not like your fingers?
I still have all 10 so I think I do...have you lost any? Thanks for your concerning comment, this video was taken a while back, and I have changed the way I utilize safety in my shop
@@rupertpika151 delighted to report I am in possession of all 21 of my digits.
@@dwporter345 now thats funny!! That last digit would be a real bummer to get caught in the jointer.
That came out real nice. great job
Franks DIY thanks, can't really take much credit...It was Nick Ferry's design...
I know but you still did a great job. I'm actually going to make one myself.
Franks DIY best thing ive made in a long while...I use it for every project...wish I would have made it years ago!
Looks great!!
The Brandon thanks!
I just finished Ferry's sled but applying the adhesive measuring tapes is confusing. You said you measured 1" but 1" from WHERE? I also have the Kreg swing stop.
Joe Brown i put a ruler against the fence and eyeballed the spot where 1" would be. I applied the ruler, and then dialed it in more precisely, adjusting the swing stop until it was dead on. they are confusing just take your time.
"Ruler against the fence"? 1 inch from where? Nick didn't explain it well either.
Joe Brown 1" from where the saw blade passes...
Ok gotcha thanks. Then do the same for the other side tape right.
Ok gotcha thanks. Then do the same for the other side tape right.
Beginner, working not precisely
Thanks wolfgang!
Nice sled Nick, some great ideas there, thanks
Nick Ferry made an awesome sled. I used his design to make one of my own. Thanks!
Oops, thought I was putting this on Nick Ferry's site.
This is Nick's design...not trying to take credit for his ideas...hence the title Nick Ferry Design and I refer to him in the video as well as well as the link in the description. Thanks for the comment though, it helps me get more views. Happy Easter!
Why wasted time better ones already on you tube
John Isley thanks John for your comment, not sure why you felt the need to comment if it was such a waste of time, but I appreciate your constructive criticism, and you taking the time to let everyone know
There’s always an asshole no matter what you do
