Winter is gorgeous, she's my bias in aespa, but she doesn't have an hourglass body. She's more of a rectangle. I'm not sure if Yuna is an hourglass either. A good example of an ACTUAL hourglass body is Tzuyu or Seolhyun.

Karina is my bias, but Winter is really beautiful too. I think Karina is prettiest in Aespa, but Winter deserves visual title as well. Winter is a more traditional korean beauty and has softer visuals that koreans prefer so I can see why she was chosen over Karina.

Just a quick and clear explanation here about the definition of an "hourglass body shape" cause 100.1% of k-pop stans don't know or have an idea what this term means and believe an hourglass shape is just about curves and go spreading misinformation everywhere they go and have a weird obesession of not wanting idols to have "hourglass figures" obligatorily, before you ask aside from being a vocal student, i study anatomy and have dressed many body types in a clothing store.
What is an hourglass shape? An "hourglass body shape" means having equal body measurements, small waist and wide shoulders, it just means being proportionated, its not a thing about exuberant curves, the hourglass shape is the most uncommon body type and the least studied, this type has many unknown information about it that not a lot of people know, like how this shape variates and its not a set body type like rectangles, inverted triangles, pears and etc, cause this form can get transformed or lost, throughout many reasons, like years or exercise.
The hourglass morph is much more than a “wasp waist”, having this type of silhouette is a matter of proportions in which the hips, shoulders and waist come into play. This means you can have an hourglass silhouette whether you're tall or short, or if you're of a slimmer or curvy build. There is no ideal hourglass body type, the important thing is to know how to recognize what type you have, appreciate it and value it.
The hourglass shape has two sub-types, the "top hourglass" and the "bottom hourglass".

Preference for lighter skin It's not all about racism. In old days lighter skin is a sign of wealth and status as land owner most commonly associated with nobles, this is because at that time peasant work revolve around working in farm or notably outdoor so they'll have darker skin from sun exposure while the noble will have lighter complexion due to work mostly indoor. This in turn make a lighter skin were more preferred when choosing a bride or groom for your children. This is what happen in most part of the world long before white people make black people a slave, so i don't think using slavery as reason here is correct at all since pale skin is already beauty standard of most asian country since long time ago and they never once make black people slave.

You left some thing out which I was curious about when I got into kpop. The white skin in korea was a sign of the nobility vs darker skin which meant being a peasant...they worked in the sun all day. Not that different from our term for redneck...a red neck was a sign of working outside as a farmer or laborer vs those considered genteel.
I am really scared because the 4th generation is more about unrealistic beauty (shooting plastic surgery), I mean they all are beautiful but they aren't trying to look normal but like dolls. I am really excited to see YG baby monster group because they seems to have natural beauty (even if some of them do surgery) they'll look natural in the future.

I agree that both Wonyoung and Yujin were born with a fast metabolism, and long legs, and are taller than most femidols, but that doesn't change the fact that Wonyoung started to lose a lot of weight when debuting with IVE which is probably due to her strict schedule :( and there's a visible change in Yujins legs I AM comeback as well. These girls are all slayful given the immensely competitive and looks oriented industry and society they're in. As a 30 something year old East Asian woman, I've always known that pale skin was coveted because of some outdated classist ideology that dark skin has long been associated with laboring in the outdoors and rural poverty. It's not great, but it is what it is.

6:36 Although this was the case in other places, if you are suggesting that this is the reason for the beauty standard in East Asia that is not true. The standard of pale skin has been a part of East Asia even before European contact. Those who had tanner/darkner skin color meant they worked outside in the fields, under the sun for hours. In other words, you were a poor. Mean while those who had light skin meant they were rich enough to not have to work under the sun and stay indoors, therefore light skinned. Remember that more than 96% of the people in Korea are Koreans, the percentage was even more significantly higher in the past, so it didn't originate as a "whyt supreme racial" thing as those who are nonKoreans in korea are other asians.
In the present, although there is favortism towards pale skin, there are still idols and people who are considered attractive despite being tan, one's beauty isn't shattered if they have tan skin.

Why isn't Karina on the fair/snowy skin section? Cause she's super pale, have you seen her legs? They literally look pink, aespa went to a lot of events like the nick cannon show/coachella/fashion weeks/ambassadorship parties, and in every unwhitewashed picture Karina is always the palest out of all the members, i think she's not much known for that cause she has an undertone that sometimes depending the lightning can may her look kinda greyish, but i have bunch of pictures/proofs of how pale her skin is specially her legs, while Winter is regarded as the palest because of her stage name/cold aura, her legs are not even as pale as Karina's, when we compare them we see a notable difference, Karina's looks milky white and Winter's look kinda yellowish.
For Shuhua and Chaeryeong, their are insanely fair. most asians have a slightly yellow tint on their skin( myself included) so idols, who are extremely fair already, look yellow in comparison to shuhua and chae.

Well yes wonyoung and yujin are tall and have thin thighs BUT they are having a diet so it’s not liketgey eat ,,normal‘‘ and still get those things honestly I’m jealous of wonyoung thighs and her high ( I’m just 168c, but maybe I’ll grow cause I’m still young ) so I started to try to starve myself for the sake of thin thighs lol I’m sick of wonyoung stand calling me ugly like I know that already….
I found it rather funny how for this Five beauty standards only two girls were chosen. Even in fifth standard Yuna do have hourglass figure but winter, she is too much slender to call it hourglass. I think it's Karina who has hourglass figure. Just a correction....colourism pre-dates racism and colonialism. Colourism came into existence due to the caste system in many parts of the world. The rich were more pale in skin (in certain partd of the world) because they did not have to work outside doing hard labor. Thus fair skin became a status of wealth and leisure. Then colonialism came along and further perpetuated fair skin through racism.
