    I started using these in the studio, and it’s been a real game changer. No more tripping over chords, and it’s really easy to arrange vocalists around a microphone.

    A little late to the party here, but thought I'd add my experience. I'm Worship Pastor at a small church where we still have wedges on stage and do not use tracks/click etc. I started using a Sennheiser G4 IEM unit some time back and am quite happy with it. I do get some RF interference with that unit despite many attempts to find clean channels and dial in squelch settings. But I love the stereo image I get as it helps me to dial in my mixes depending on what role I have in the team. We have several volunteers in our team using the X-Vive U4 units and everyone likes them. They are very stable and noise free being wireless rather than radio. Because most of the people using them are new to IEMs they are also not as familiar with the benefits of stereo. In some roles, such as playing bass, there is arguably little benefit in having a stereo mix, because you can be pretty selective about how much stuff you have in your ears anyway. As WL that's playing an instrument, you're far more likely to have a busy mix where stereo panning is a benefit. Due to the low cost of these units, and if you only have a couple of them on stage, these units have been a great entry point for some of our team to start experimenting with IEMs and hasn't required major changes for our sound techs or stage design. Most of our team just install the monitor app and with some help start dialling in their own mixes.
    One note on the "review" by the singer in the video...If she switched headphones at the same time as trying the U4 unit, all best are off. Things sounding brighter may well have been entirely caused by the earbuds and had nothing to do with the transmitter. Or did I misunderstand the "testing"? Thoughts?

    We’ve been using these for about a year, and while good, there are a few things you’ll need to do to make it work better. The transmitter form factor is a problem because it’s pretty thick, and so you can’t plug two in next to each other. Plus the switches are pretty small and you could inadvertently press the wrong button and change what channel you’re on. So how we solved those issues is we connected them to short XLR cables and then plugged the cables into the mixer. Then we just keep them permanently connected to power.

    thanks! im a singer and a drummer. if i wanted to use the xvive u4 to hear myself sing/the backing track for one song, would i then be able to go to the drums in the middle of a set to sing/hear the backing track/click while playing drums with this to?? or would i need to take my in ears out of the reciever and plug them into the mixer by the drums in order to hear myself sing/the backing track?

    My cover bands run off of these. I also use one every weekend at LifeChurch Jenks.
    Rumor has it they’re working on a stereo version.. 👀

    1:06 - Are your Phenyx Pro PTM-10s in the 900MHz or 500MHz bands? I'm getting a lot of interference with the 900MHz units and wondered if I should try the 500MHz units?

    • @RylandRussell
      @RylandRussell  Рік тому

      500 would be good. Ours are 900 and we haven’t had issues.

    Discussion included the sound, but not noting if you EQ your aux channel for the listener, team member. I assume they get a pre fader mix of instruments but can be further affected on their M32 bus channel with effects, more EQ and so on.

      So that is an idea for a video of yours, maybe in tandem with a tech tour, of how churches mix their monitors in the A2 position and if it can be simplified for smaller church teams.

      I see, ya the p16 get pre-fade. For this test it was literally the same exact mix coming from my p16 at the same time. One mono summed and one stereo

    Pro Tip, don’t plug these transmitters in while using. I didn’t read the fine print and blew through one of the batteries because I wanted to plug it in while using it. 😂

      You can't plug in usb to the transmitter while using? I have friends that do that. Not the receiver obviously because you want that to be wireless.

    I'm using the Phenyx Pro and have been very happy with it. For me, Stereo is a MUST because I pan certain instruments certain directions to help my brain sort out what I'm hearing. I'd rather go wired than mono. The Phenyx does occasionally give me a wave of static, but for $220, I'll deal with it and it's very temporary. (I do have the transmitter on stage, plugged into my P16-M.) So, Ryland, a request - would you PLEASE do a video on how you guys have your P16-Ms set up? We're a small church (but with a bunch (too many?) of singers), and I can't provide individual channels for everyone who wants one on the P16-M. Previously I had subgrouped female vocals and male vocals, but they all want to be able to hear themselves individually. How are you doing sends to your P16-Ms? Thanks!!!

    I looked into these intially but I ended up getting the KIMAFUN Wireless in Ear Monitor System instead. Half the price but does the same job.

    Been using these for over a year and for the price it's surprisingly good sound. The small form factor receiver is also a plus for vocalists. They should have made it usb c though

    Can you control these mixes with a remote app like M32Q on the intranet network?

    • @RylandRussell
      @RylandRussell  Рік тому

      These don't have their own mix, they simply just transmit whatever signal you give them. If you plug the transmitter into the back of the m32 then yep that'd be an easy way to control them!

    I’ve been using the U4 for almost a year now and have been thoroughly impressed. We run a headphone amp a fair way from the mixer and have had no issues with interference or dropouts. USB-C would’ve been awesome, but at least it comes with a dual charging cable.

  • @mattdoyle1554

    I also use a 2m xlr cable to get the transmitter away from my mixers router(caused interference). I only put one ear in because I like some open ear stage sound while I play. I always charge them before my run of gigs

    I have an outdoor service tomorrow and I tried renting six of these for the service. The rental company only had 2 so I’ll be using them for the first time. Good to hear I rented something decent.

      Good luck! There are only 6 channels so it'd be good luck if all 6 worked well together. I'm sure 2 will be great.
