- THIS IS A SELECTION OF EDITS FROM MY ARCHIVE RELATING TO SHAKIN STEVENS AND ELVIS.
MY ARCHIVE IS CLIPS ONLY - I DO NOT HAVE THE FULL SHOWS.
1. GET IT TOGETHER - GRANADA TV - 13 APRIL 1977 - FOLLOWING THIS APPEARANCE ON THIS CHILDRENS SHOW - JACK GOOD CONSIDERED SHAKY FOR HIS NEW MUSICAL OF ELVIS. IT WAS FOLLOWING ELVIS'S DEATH LATER IN 1977 THAT SHAKY WAS SIGNED. THIS WAS THE LAST TV APPEARANCE OF SHAKY WITH THE SUNSETS. IN THE SHOWS PROGRAMME THIS SONG IS ADVERTISED ON BEHALF OF SHAKY.
2. PAUL DANIELS BLACKPOOL BONANZA - GRANADA TV - 28 AUGUST 1978 - SHAKY SINGS TROUBLE. THIS SHOW WAS RECORDED AS LIVE FROM BLACKPOOL'S NORBRECK CASTLE HOTEL FOR LATER TX. THE LES REED ORCHESTRA TOOK THE PLACE OF FUMBLE.
3. PAUL DANIELS BLACKPOOL BONANZA - GRANADA TV - 28 AUGUST 1978 - ALL THREE ELVI - TOGETHER WITH TONY CHRISTIE WHO WAS ON THIS SHOW BUT TONY WAS NOT IN THE MUSICAL - SING BLUE SUEDE SHOES - THIS WAS THE END OF TX AND CREDITS WERE SHOWN THEREFORE NO VISION OF ARTISTS. P J PROBY HAD LEFT THE PRODUCTION AT THIS RECORDING AND MATURE ELVIS WAS BOGDAN KOMINOWSKI.
4. ASTORIA PROMO FILM - SHAKY SINGS - JAILHOUSE ROCK. TO PROMOTE ELVIS THE MUSICAL JACK GOOD AND RAY COONEY COMMISSIONED A SERIES OF INSERTS FROM FINAL DRESS REHEARSAL AND SOME OUTSIDE SHOTS FILMED AT THE DUKE OF YORK THEATRE WITH SCREAMING GIRLS. THIS INSERT OF 30 SECONDS WAS ONE OF A SERIES THAT WERE SHOWN IN CINEMAS AROUND LONDON IN NOVEMBER 1977. THIS INSERT IS THE ONLY ONE MADE AVAILABLE OUTSIDE OF CINEMA PROMOTION.
5. OUR SHOW - 17 DECEMBER 1977 - SHAKY AND TIM WHITNALL SING - THATS ALL RIGHT MAMA - FROM ELVIS THE MUSICAL. THIS WAS AN APPEARANCE ON LONDON WEEKEND TV WHICH FEATURED SHAKIN STEVENS - TIM WHITNALL - P J PROBY TALKING ABOUT THEIR NEW MUSICAL.
MARKING SHAKYS 40TH ANNIVERSARY ON NOVEMBER 27TH, BMG ARE RELEASING A 19 DISC CAREER SPANNING ANTHOLOGY BOX SET CONTAINING ALL OF HIS SOLO STUDIO ALBUMS 1978 - 2016 PLUS 2 LIVE CONCERTS AND 4 DISCS OF BONUS MATERIAL,
IN ADDITION, THERE WILL BE A 3CD SET AND TWO VINYL LP SET CALLED - SINGLED OUT

I used to love the way shaky did that frantic bit of dancing in Trouble and I also loved him doing Ready Teddy in the show when he ran across the stage and jumoed on the mike stand......and when he swung down on a rope doing sea cruise.....thanks for sharing......brings back so many memories you wouldn't believe it 👍

Thanks for sharing, as i was born in 75 i didnt know of Shaky until i was knee high to a grass hopper 😅. I Would love to see the full show. Something i was told from lead singer of the Jets and its even in the Shaky autobiography, is that they were supposed to be his support act but he felt they were going to upstage him, so he locked them in there dressing room so that they couldn't go on.

HI AND SORRY FOR DELAY IN REPLYING. I WAS ABLE TO FILM FOR MY REFERENCE TAPES THAT SOMEONE HAD RIGHT TO - CANNOT RETURN TO TAPES AND THEREFORE ALL THAT I NOW HAVE ARE MY FILMING SOME WITH SOUND AND SOME WITH SEPARATE TAPE RECORDINGS.
I THOUGHT LONG AND HARD ABOUT UPLOADING THESE - I AM PLEASED MY HASTY FILMING IS REASONABLE QUALITY.
I WILL SEE WHAT ELSE I CAN FIND IN MY OWN ARCHIVE. REGARDS.

Imagine making a living off the back of Elvis Presley like this, and then refusing to call him your inspiration or even acknowledge how good he was!!
Shakin' Stevens is just full of hypocrisy. It's like he refuses to credit Elvis because it'll diminish his own career because, as everyone knows, he's just a second rate singer who would never have got anywhere had it not been for Elvis
Even at 75, Shaky will still refuse to praise Elvis.

More time in the UK singles chart than anyone else. 16th biggest selling artist of all time (1980s), shares that distinction with the Beatles (1960s) and Elton John (1970s),

You have probably never seen the vast interviews with shaky where he credits Elvis and says he was a great entertainer. Shaky didn’t want the part at first, but Jack Good talked him into it,
The only connection with Elvis and shaky making it big, was the fact Muff Winwood was in the audience for one of the nights at the Musical and went back stage to ask shaky why he didn’t have a recording contract,
Also just to add, shaky was recoding with the sunsets years before he had any connection with Elvis,
Shaky getting his shot was pure timing and nothing more!

Elvis was still alive when Shakin Stevens became famous. Famous WITHOUT singing any Elvis songs at all! He was touring with Shakin Stevens and the Sunsets since 1969, quit the band and picked up a job in the musical in 77, then launched a solo career.
He's 76 years old, released a new album, and looks a shtload healthier than Elvis did in his 30s!
