- Called the "king" of dual sports, the DRZ 400 is one of the best bikes in this class of all time. It's budget friendly, very reliable, and parts and accessories are very cheap for it. There are many mods for this bike, but ours is stock performance, we just have a slip on exhaust. 3x3 mod, jet kit, and full exhaust system are how to get the most out of this dual sport motorcycle. We have switched out the factory tires for some knobby ones for better traction off road. Suspension is very good on the DR-Z, it has a lot of adjustment and we have ours set fairly firm and stiff. This bike has remained virtually unchanged since its start over 20 years ago. We have the off-road S model but there is the SM supermoto DRZ400SM which has inverted forks and 17 inch wheels + tires. All models use a carburetor vs fuel injection, have a 5 speed transmission as opposed to a 6, and utilize a steel frame instead of aluminum, and all that old gold works great on this machine. Comment with any questions, enjoy!

I've watched almost every DRZ video on UA-cam. This is my favorite one so far.
Hey thanks man!
FACTS!
Great low-key ad for Suzuki to just keep on keeping’ on with the DRZ. 😎
The best drz video I’ve seen. I’m sold
Thanks man! 👍
Wow, a DRZ rider who's not whining about every thing, I love it. A biker's bike. Enjoy a great bike !!! awesome video !!!
Thanks man! 👍
The hooligan is strong in this one
I thought this would be a normal drz vid but then in the garage u showed u know what ur doing xD badass love it.
Thanks man!
That guy at the gas station was great! Showing some appreciation, it's great to see!
Happens often on this bike for some reason. Get’s a crap ton of looks at the gas station….especially with a little mud on it.
This is the most fun I've had in a motorcycle video in ages. You're totally hilarious too 😂. Subbed!
Thanks man! 👍
That’s where we need to be. Straight off road in a field at 45 mph. 😂😂😂😂😂. I needed this video this morning before work. Great video new subscriber
Awesome man! 👍
Great entertainment, I hope this channel blows up
Maybe one day, that would be cool!
What a fun video. I just got a 2014 DRZ 400S. I took it on a 60 mile ride today. What a blast! I love it and wish I'd have bought one 24 years ago.
Thanks man! I just put 50 more miles on mine today, I love this thing
I have a 2009 drz 400s and I love it ive owned it for almost 7 years now all the bike ill ever need
They are the best 👍
Thanks for the joy 🎉
I had the 400 SM but wide tires stunk in the trails and grass. Gonna have to get the 400S now :) Thanks for convincing me it is not too top heavy for woods riding. We will just say its more planted. Haha. Keep those videos coming, love your jumps in the neighborhood and trail rippin!
Thanks man! Will do 👍
Bro, you are convincing me that this is all I need!
It is! 😎
Great video man👍
dude; awesome video. absolutely loved your attitude! keep it up!
Thanks man! 👍
wow what can i say? Suzuki needs to reach out to you with some compensation package.... Great DRZ vid!! gosh, i'm feeling like i need a DRZ again.. I loved my last one and sold it due to life changes but now i'm in a prime time to do it again.... and do it better.... thx for the vid... sub'd
Hey thanks man, maybe one day they will!
Funny story, at 45 years old, I grew up on dirt bikes and as an adult have owned everything from sport, to Harley, and even naked sport standards and adventures. I realized I want to get back in the dirt for the first time in MANY years. I heavily investigated the KLR650 (too heavy for jumping) DR650 (decent but still not what I wanted) XR650l (VERY CLOSE as I loved my XR200 as a kid) but when all is said and done, The type of silly fun driving you do around town is EXACTLY what I am looking for!. Not so many trails around me or hard core dirt but I want to catch some air and just goof off around town. This seems like the perfect bike to do that (without going to a KTM or two stroke with all the crazy maintenance). Thanks!
absolutely love this.. drz400 would be my top choice at moment. but im trying to stay away carbs.. but you really make me want to get one with all the ohv and fire trails around me.. seems perfect for me other than not wanting a carb lol.. again great video and content.. just sub'd
Thanks man! Ya know carbs get a bad rep, and I'll admit, when you have multiple carbs, it can be a task to sync and balance them all to each other and clean them if you ever have to. But when there is just one carb, life is easy. One carb never deters me, 4 carbs makes me reconsider a bike lol I've been down that road multiple times. Not the end of the world, but ya gotta know a thing or two and have some tools
Just bought a '21 in the same grey/yellow, with the mods that I would have done anyway: risers, wide pegs, jetted, opened airbag, skid plate, real hand guards and a Sarg seat was a nice bonus). Over the weekend added aux lights, 12v socket, an open grill front sprocket guard, and a fork brace. Will add a little of my own vinyl design. Coming from sport-tourers, and an ADV to going off-road only (done with car idiots) on this specifically purchased l'il ole Mountain Goat, what a fun bike! New chapter. It is the best in this class unless spending more than twice $$ for a KTM/HUSQ.
Best drz video, real rider.
Thanks man!
Enjoyed the vid..subscribed. thanks.
Thanks man! More coming soon
Bro you can ride no doubt. Love the Bon Jovi reference 🤘🏻🔥☮️⭐️
Thanks man 👍🤠
Brilliant video 🇺🇲🍾🎉🇺🇲
After watching this video, I'm buying one. My style of riding.
2024 an yellow one. Again thanks for the entertainment.
Thanks man! You're going to enjoy it 👍
Great video. My cousin and I are 50plus years old, and recently both bought DRZ's. We love the S model. We have ridden bikes for years and really enjoy this bike more than any model we've ridden recently. However we have tons of trails and single track, so this bike makes great sense! One question, what exhaust is on it? Sounds great on the video !
Thanks man! Our exhaust is a no name eBay slip-on system that I've had great luck with, used them multiple times. Here's the link to it - ebay.us/AAQBaH
I have a 2020 DRZ400 and a 2024 Kawasaki KLX300. The DRZ kicks butt on my KLX because the DRZ has so much more power therefore much more fun to ride.
That 400 is just the perfect size for a dual sport, wish more brands would make 350-450cc dual sports
@@bikesandbangs agreed….
Your mic setup sounds great...virtually no wind noise.
Thanks! I've been working on the setup
Can I ask if you use a voice recorder separate from your GoPro?@@bikesandbangs
@nosyjoe I have a GoPro with a media mod, and then just a lapel mic plugged into that
@@bikesandbangs wow I’ve never had any luck with that. Popping and wind noise on my GoPro 9 with media mod
Thats it, im getting a DRZ. Thanks bro😂
Great Video - Subscribed - I sold my Honda XR150L -- Gotta go shopping now... Thanks!
Do it man! 👍
That was the fastest like/subscribe I’ve ever given
Thanks man! 👍
The positivity is epic
Thanks man! 👍
Very cool ride. Thank you!
I'm a new rider at age 52. How does this bike compare to Honda CRF 300l?
I bought one 2 years ago and began my dual sport journey.
Thanks again.
Dont take my other comment to hard to heart. Youve got a good video, and some goofy comedy to pair with it lol
more drz content plz!
I bought the same exact color and everything first thing I’ve ever bought on my own and I can’t see how it’s too heavy of a machine for some people even with street gearing and 50/50 tires I still get around on it pretty good even in tight stuff
I also started riding less than a year ago
Awesome man! Yeah I think this is a great bike, minimal maintenance and you can do anything with it 👍
Awesome vid. My son and I were cracking up!
Question:
> Have you done any carb or performance work to your DRZ?
What comms setup are are you running and what are you recording into?
Thanks.
Thanks man! No I haven't touched the carb. I would jet it and do some mods if I stayed in Nebraska but I take trips out where there is significant elevation and the factory jetting seems to run good everywhere ive been. And it's got enough power for me. This was recorded with a GoPro hero 8 or 10, I forget which one I grabbed, and then I just have a $30 Sony lapel mic plugged into the media mod on my camera
Appreciate the feedback. My son and I just watched her 1000 mile DRZ review. That's alot of good info there, and like they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it LOL.
I'll be looking forward to more vids in the future thank you.
I was laughing all the way through this video. Man you're hilarious! In the market for a dual sport and the DRZ was lower down my list. Now it's at or near the top. That ride looked to be a pure blast. And at $7100 msrp it's appears to be hard to beat. Now do I go yeller or black? ;)
Thanks man! Yeah the DRZ is a great contender that you can't rule out 👍
You had me at the garage 😂
I have the same drz400s and was wondering what fender eliminator you have and if you did an exhaust upgrades ? I want an rs2 but I’m not sure if it’s compatible
Great vid man.
Will throw a leg over one this week.
Hey man what boots are you wearing? Them boots looking bad ass.
Thanks man, they are Laredo Lexingtons
@@bikesandbangs Roger that! 🍻
Thank you.
Currently have a crf 250L and I like it but its still a heavy bike with even less power than the drz. Im seriously tempted to get one and jet it pipe it and do the 3x3 mod with a kn air filter. Does yours wheelie without the clutch?
Great video! All filming done in Mexico? Did they change their flag?🇺🇸 Enjoy,be safe!
Enjoyed the action shots, but the narration kept reminding me of the “Honey Badger don’t give a shit” video 😂.
I love the exhaust note on that bike! What exhaust are you running?
I've got a link to it in the description
To be fair, those are super flat trails. Basically a parking lot with dirt. Where I'm at, low gearing definitely helps the super steep techy climbs and rock gardens etc.
Wow. Great video bro. I’m looking to buy a 24 this summer I’m only 5’7 do you think I can touch the ground?
You'll be tip toed for sure, but you could soften the suspension to get it a little lower and you could also get a lowering link
Dude I'll have what you're having...😂
You're riding that thing and spitting fire
You sliced through there like a ninja
Just another day boss 😎
What can you do to make this bike handle speeds of 80mph without breaking earlier or stressing itself?
Sick video! What kind of skid plate do you have?
It's just the factory one
Ice Ventura 🤙
hey what gearing are you using? great video
Stock gearing
doing this on supermoto wheels is really hard for me, Im sure its a skill issue but I feel like my front tire loses grip on everything. What tires do you run?
If you don't have knobbies you won't be able to do very much. I run Sedona Hard Terrain MX Tires
you sound like Alan from hit tv show smiling friends now on adult swim sundays at midnight!
Are you running stock gearing(15/44)?
Yes
Can we please get more drz vids
Yes, I'll be making some more!
Hey man how tall are you in metar
Какой год и какая цена без пробега по рф?
How do you like those pro taper sport bars?
They are good man, I put em on everything. I get the unadilla "mid-high" bars and they are perfect for these drz's
@@bikesandbangs cool! Im gonna get them !
Great video! I hope you ride safe and keep the stunt riding for a safer place than construction zones. I worked in those for years give those guys a "Brake". I don't like preaching but if something happens and you're goofin around man slaughter is a hard charge to beat! Don't forget we all live here and want everyone to have a good time and come home safe! Have fun, be safe and stay cool man!
Love the vid of doing fun and dumb shit. I would not want that obnoxious exhaust though, scaring wildlife and getting all the attention. But this goes to show how no matter what bike it is, its 90% the rider and his abilities and relationship with the bike and only 10% the machine. What tires do you have on there? How did you learn the bike so well? You must've crashed and gotten scraped up a bunch of times.
I've gone down on other dirtbikes plenty, and my previous DRZ, but this one has yet to go down. Tires are Sedona hard terrain 905's. Thanks man!👍
I call my DR-400S the Armageddon bike
You should ride into the grocery store.
Do a donut on isle 2.
It takes a certain attitude to run the bike thru the back of cul-de-sac's, across corners, and have the appearance of just not
giving a Flyin' F#@K? I'm here for that signature & I'm pretty sure that's who you are? Yeah, I think so & I'm looking at this
bike anyway so they ought to give you a commission when I buy one? ! peace man
Honestly chasing animals doesn’t sound like a terrible idea, maybe they’ll learn to avoid people and vehicles
Exactly, and they need to exercise just like us. I'm only trying to help
"I suppose its heavy if you're a weakling" - lol it's certainly not a XR650
Haha i had to give the complainers a little crap. Cuz so many people act like you can't do anything on this bike
Okay but my friends and I go A LOT faster in our trails like for the tight area for half of that I'd be in high rpms of first gear, that's when she's heavy lol
"i suppose its heavy when you are a little weak link"
ig there's no such thing as trespassing in your state
The voice!! oh man. Hard to listen too
Ur mother thought it was cute and different 😏
Yeah I get tired of getting nothing but SM vids when I search DRZ S. I don’t know the point of going all street with a DRZ… if I wanted a street bike I would have gotten a street bike.
Trial weapon indeed thanks for being cool like me and rocking the S like a G.
I have gotten stuck on inclines on trails that got rough quickly before I could judge them. If you dual sport it with fifty fifty tires like people that ride the S model should run, they need to be very good fifty fifty’s that have no less than 70 percent tread left.
To people consider buying this bike, DO IT but just remember to always be sure you can get out of somewhere before you go in. Going down a steep hill seems easy but the way back up might not be doable so just keep it in mind riders!
