Story: I was once in a boyscouts group, and we basically set up tents inside a late wooden castle-like structure in a woodsy area. That night I woke up needing to go to the bathroom. I didn’t know what time it was but it felt like 3 am. I quietly left the structure even though I was pretty sure we weren’t allowed to without telling one of the leaders. When I got outside it was dark, but light at the same time. There were clouds thickly blocking out the moon or stars, so the sky was light gray. The clouds weren’t that dark even though it was dark outside. I could see everything around me just as well as I normally would during the day, but everything had a gray tint like I said. The woods around me gave off a creepy vibe, like somebody or something was hiding behind each individual tree or bush or anything I looked at. Everything gave a feeling like it was alive but being slow, like a predator sneaking on its prey. The closest bathroom thing was about a 3 minute walk, which doesn’t sound far, but trust me it looked far, but I went anyways. It felt long too. On my way back I was fully awake so I know it wasn’t a dream, but it completely felt like one. Nothing happened to me, but that was the creepiest moment I’ve ever had in my life. It was one of those things where it felt terrifyingly dangerous but was really safe. Unless those feelings had a source, but I’ll never know if some animal or even person was watching me from a distance.

i got a Scary True story
once I was in a place in new Zealand I did not know the place we were school camping there for three nights two days first day I was paddle boating I was having fun and we learned how to make pancakes secound
day we made dream catchers my teacher was telling spokey storys we were laughing thinking it's a lie he said something about dorm number ten I was in dorm number ten we went to or cabins or dorms and me and my friend said "PLEASE MISTER SCARY DUDE PLEASE DON'T KILL US" WE laughed and threw the dream catchers in the bush when we went to sleep I heard a noise we we're scared then it was just our teachers telling us to go to sleep we went to sleep. When we woke up everthing was on the floor our pillows our blanket we were scared and then you know the dream catcher we threw out it was lying on the middle of the floor we told the teachers every student was scared and we left the teachers story was real the reason why was because the camp was builded by a prison many men commit suicide and now I'm afraid of life
I go on Boy Scout campouts all the time. They tell scary stories, but none of them are ever said to be true. The only creepy things are sounds in the woods, so I consider myself lucky

Okay but being over protective to your kids will only make them more distant though.
Yeah you wanna protect them but you don't wanna over protect them to the point you start to drive them away.
Like I'd of been pissed off if my dad/mom said i couldn't join a Boyscott group cause they were scared. Because while yes bad things like these stories could happen they are far and few between. Majority of the time Boyscott camp trips are peaceful kinda fun trips out in the woods.
Your kid could die in a car crash every time you drive him/her to school or anywhere else but i bet you'll do that anyway right? Or they could choke on the dinner you make them but you'll still make dinner. You can't over react to situations like this.
And even if you guys didn't mean it in that way then this is for those who do! Don't over protect your kids because they'll just get distant and more rebellious and your relationship with them will be damaged by it. Maybe they'll start keeping parts of their lives secret from you out of fear of your over reaction. So they won't tell you about a bullying problem or depression or a relationship etc...
Point is if you think you're really protecting your kid by being mega strict and over protective you're wrong. Most kids with over protective parents turn out to use drugs and such out of rebellion to their parents.
If you have a daughter i promise you she WILL have sex sooner or later. Your son WILL have sex sooner or later. They will see porn some how, they will see violent movies/video games sooner or later (even though you shouldn't be protective over that anyway studies have proven that Violent movies/games don't harm children) but the point is stop trying to keep these things away from your kids and educate them on those things.

I started having to walk home after school in 3rd grade except it wasn’t my home was our friends’ home. I would walk to the family’s home after school. So my parents gave me my dad’s old phone to tell them when I arrived. Always make sure your kids have a way of contacting you.

I am a Boy Scout also from Maryland and in like 2012 or 2013 my troop went down to the Baltimore harbor and we all slept on the U.S constellation the old navy boat and we would create patrols to "protect the boat" as something to do in the middle of the night and while we were doing this we heard a noise from the captain area so we went down there and saw a black shadow thing walk across and we were all kinda creeped out and just played poker for the rest of the night
