Fun fact, the reason Hunter stopped doing a jumping cutter as his finisher was Diamond Dallas Page. The two had become friendly during Trips’ stint in WCW and DDP was trying to get the Diamond Cutter over at the time, so he called Hunter up and asked if he’d stop using it as a favor to him. Hunter agreed, and the rest is history.

For the shooting star press, it had to have been Rei's Hisho Hakurei from the first part of Fist of the North Star. The dude basically does a shooting star press in the air before dropping down and chopping your like karate boards (way more brutal than you'd think). Liger is so goated for that.

I was actually wondering which character it was from. I never read the manga but I saw the entire anime series (Hokuto No Ken & Hokuto No Ken 2)

I feel like Liger emulate the move from Souther's Tensho Juji Ho more, but Rei's Hisho Hakurei was a possibility. It might be also from some of Shew's moves as well.

The shooting Star Press is most likely inspired Souther's Tenshou Juji Hou where he put his hands on the ground and essentially used them as a springboard to leap into the air
A lot of stuff takes inspiration from Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken) so it makes sense that Liger who also gets his namesake and likeness from a Manga (Go Nagai's Jushin Liger) would borrow from that medium
