Fun fact, the reason Hunter stopped doing a jumping cutter as his finisher was Diamond Dallas Page. The two had become friendly during Trips’ stint in WCW and DDP was trying to get the Diamond Cutter over at the time, so he called Hunter up and asked if he’d stop using it as a favor to him. Hunter agreed, and the rest is history.
For the shooting star press, it had to have been Rei's Hisho Hakurei from the first part of Fist of the North Star. The dude basically does a shooting star press in the air before dropping down and chopping your like karate boards (way more brutal than you'd think). Liger is so goated for that.
I feel like Liger emulate the move from Souther's Tensho Juji Ho more, but Rei's Hisho Hakurei was a possibility. It might be also from some of Shew's moves as well.
The shooting Star Press is most likely inspired Souther's Tenshou Juji Hou where he put his hands on the ground and essentially used them as a springboard to leap into the air A lot of stuff takes inspiration from Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken) so it makes sense that Liger who also gets his namesake and likeness from a Manga (Go Nagai's Jushin Liger) would borrow from that medium
Honestly Roderick Strong technically invented the Claymore because Roderick did the move on the indies way before Drew invented it on WWE's main roster
To leave out metentioning “Rugged” Ronnie Garvin when talking sharpshooter and scorpion death lock is a little embarrassing guys. The Garvin Stomp was earlier than either in North America
I think the Sharpshooter and the Deathlock are slightly different, depending on whether, after grabbing the target's ankles and stepping thorough the legs, they step across the target to plant their foot. IIRC, Hart keeps his leg on the same side, and Sting steps across.
I love pro wrestling! Now is a great time to be a fan, I’m enjoying the stories each week! The slow build can be great, not in every scenario, but damn I’ve been loving it
My Fav Finisher is Sweet Shin Music by Dude Love. Would Love to know how the Sweet Shin Music move became a thing. Also I'm interested if Shawn Michaels ever had an issue with it.
Back in the 90s, my buddy used to comment on how Rock was the new Hulk Hogan, except he didn't have the super dumb finisher. Then Rock broke out the People's Elbow.
Scorpion Death Lock vs Sharpshooter is a dead lock 50/50, imho. Both names are pretty dang siqqq, and I think both men preformed it in an equally incredible way.
The People's Elbow could not get over now, not even with Dwayne Johnson doing it. There's too much smart mark influence on the product now. If the Rock debuted for the first time now a standing elbow drop would die on the table as a finisher.
riki chosu and bret hart are the only people to do the move correctly. the move is a high ankle figure four. look at bret's and riki's hands when they apply the move. pressure is applied to both the opponent's lower back and ankle shins. everyone else just cross their legs and put them underneath their arm pits.
I always thought the name "Pedigree" was inspired by the double underhook lock into face driver resembling how a pedigree chart looks and flows. Not too weird alongside stuff like "Fame-ass-er" and "Unprettier". So maybe it's both that AND HHH's snob gimmick?
I always figured it came from Triple H being a such big fan of Ric Flair/The Horsemen and thus The Pedigree with the one person executing it standing and the other one taking it bent over kind of makes out the shape of a horse.
Santino s finisher is pretty much the same thing as a punch to throat that's why there are no kickouts.kickoffs. Without the step over the Styles Clash actually looks like it knocks you out.
5:30 holy shit that's amazing! Fist of the north star is my fav manga/anime, it's like the grandpa of modern shonen, I don't think we would have Dragonball without it
Andre did use a Pedigree, albeit a non-jumping variant (Andre just fell to his knees). He also was a practitioner of the Tombstone Piledriver, and at least once he could be seen rag-dolling his opponent when picking him up to set the move.
Probably won't get mentioned but the fact that corbin accidentally created end of days & deep six in the performance center IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE! and badass!💯💯💯💯
Think I remember seeing people use the End of Days before Baron Corbin did, but they would spin them out from a backbreaker hold into it. The 2K games have that version as the Catching Finisher version of it.
@@dexenationgracey1979 I don't forget. I just feel a pinfall should be close to 3 not 30. Rock won a last man standing match every time he delivered the elbow.
If AJ Styles' btother was trying the powerbomb is impossible AJ Styles did the Styles splash but his brother. Drew McIntyre is been blaned to steal Dean Ambrkse's finsher move instead he used it before use claymore

Man sometimes you have to sit back and just love the intricacies and stories of pro wrestling
😢 just
"But it's fake"...or "it's scripted".😒
🤔Hmm, but it still requires a lot of athleticism 👍

I was actually wondering which character it was from. I never read the manga but I saw the entire anime series (Hokuto No Ken & Hokuto No Ken 2)
I feel like Liger emulate the move from Souther's Tensho Juji Ho more, but Rei's Hisho Hakurei was a possibility. It might be also from some of Shew's moves as well.
Am I really the only one who wants to see the pedigree kept around after HHH has wrestled his last?
Doesn't Seth still use it? I could've swore he does.
The Mandible Claw has an interesting history involving Sam Sheppard, the man who The Fugitive film was based on.

no, Helmsley’s original finisher was near the diamond cutter; in the alternate universe, DDP could have been stalking Stephanie instead of Taker’s ex
But we would have lost one of the most iconic reversals ever when he reversed Goldberg’s Jackhammer into the Diamond Cutter. Choices choices.
DDP used to do a variation of the ”styles Clash” called the ”diamond clash” which i believe was the first one to do it
I recall seeing similar moves before AJ Styles that were called "The Pancake".
@@rdrouynrivyep, Page did a piledriver pancake for quite a bit, and Col. DeBeers used it before that.
Billy Kidman was truly a one man SHOOT wrecking crew when it was Shooting Star Press time hahaha
I'm surprised the origin of the powerbomb wasn't in this video.
@@Grapevined_BostonCrabaccording to Quackenbush, it was a blown piledriver that at first went as well as the one on Nash at Souled Out.
If you think about it, the People's Elbow is the main event version of something like the Cobra
So true
Shame the super kick and ddt are apart of EVERY match these days.
I love how Adam always claims not to be a nerd, and insults nerds... but he runs a wrestling news company haha🤣
The Rock has said multiple times over the years that The Peoples Elbow was a total Dusty Rhodes tribute. How can you not know this?
Several people used what HHH calls the Pedigree long before him. Black Bart was using it and called it the Texas Death Drop.
Outlaw Ron Bass used it as his finisher. Skinner did at the beginning too.
Of course, Drew's accidental Claymore discovery would give him a mild concussion.

hart and chosu's versions are high ankle figure fours.
“Cranium Crushing Crescendo” would actually be a good name for a move 🤣🤣
Killer Kowalski also trained Kazarian and Eddie Edwards
Andre the Giant did a somewhat variation of the pedigree on Antonio Inoki
Oompa Loompa Triple H tho
I love pro wrestling! Now is a great time to be a fan, I’m enjoying the stories each week! The slow build can be great, not in every scenario, but damn I’ve been loving it
good video

Foley talks about it in one of his books. It was meant, and received as a wink and nod homage to Shawn. No heat.
@@raymondparisza5094 oh wow that's cool to know thanks. Rock N Sock Connection Finisher, Sweet Shin Music into the Rock Bottom, so many memories 🙂
Cool 👍
The cobra was hilarious!
UM NO not the RKO it was a version of the Diamond Cutter as DDP asked him to stop using it

Surprised to not see the genesis of the Superkick (maybe innovated by Gentleman Chris Adams in Texas).

Jake the Snake didn't invent the DDT. I don't know if he invented it, but Black Gordman was using it back in the 70s.
I’m a true WWE fan, I live wrestling in general but WWE is my ish. That being said mox will always be Dean to me ❗️❗️
Liger was probably emulating either Kenshiro or Rei.
I speak on behalf of all "Smelly Nerds" Everywhere...that was pretty funny 😂😂😂
yep manga can make you a wrestling star folks...wow....
Utters “Since I’m not a smelly nerd” while simultaneously smelly nerding is amazing.
No Kinniku buster ... Which you would think would top something like.
I thought Cena did the F-U before Lesnar did the F-5. The more you know.
I hate AJ Styles finisher. It always looks like he would hurt himself more then the other person
I wouldn’t blame anyone for refusing to sell that stupid cobra
The pedigree was used by Stevie Ray first...he called it the slap jack
Do yourself a favor and watch Fist of The North Star... 😏😏😁😁
Great video as usual but what’s with the backing music? Not a fan
How about dean Malenko inventing the jackhammer on accident
Beardless Drew looks like the 3rd Jackson brother no one ever heard of.
F U is a no but the five knuckle shuffle is ok lol i still cant understand that
This guy is beyond annoying and very biased. And yea you are a nerd a AEW nerd

Cena stole that finisher from Louie spicoli in ecw
The guy who received the DDT was The Grappler aka Len Dawson, who went on the mentor Raven in Portland.
Mox did the original pardigm shift in CZW
Santino was painfully unfunny.
How can anyone hate santino? He was comedy gold
Some argue the DDT was invented by Genichiro Tenryu in the '70s.
Well looking down on people who like comic book
Rick rude also claimed he made the ddt also
Attitude adjustment or attitude adjuster?

I seem to remember Fit Findlay doing the Indian death lock/sharpshooter/scorpion in the 70's/80s in the UK
Not a Nerd lol see that dance 😂 NERD!
I still believe that Hunter's Pedigree is the most beautiful Professional Wrestling finishing move.
I mean... the Pedigree just looks a lot like a Butterfly Driver.
More of a kneeling Butterfly facebuster
I think the peoples elbow worked because he did the rock bottom before it
No he set it up with a spinebuster u jabroni
Is Adam gearing up to join Tom in TNA? Very heel-ish vibe 😄
Andre the Giant, Ron Bass, and Skinner all used versions of the Pedigree in WWE.
André did the Killer Kowalski spot for sure, not the pedigree itself
Alliteration swag great job Adam pachiti 😮
Thanks 🎉

Neither Jojo
Evan Bourne was underrated in WWE
Triple H also said that André the Giant did a similar move to the Pedigree which gave Hunter the inspiration
His finish was a butterfly suplex for some time.
Andre did use a Pedigree, albeit a non-jumping variant (Andre just fell to his knees).
He also was a practitioner of the Tombstone Piledriver, and at least once he could be seen rag-dolling his opponent when picking him up to set the move.

4:39 Skip ahead to avoid the modern WWE shilling.

I always hated the People's Elbow. The opponent was down for significantly longer than a pinfall, eat a standing elbow and it somehow won matches.
That's because he usually does a Rock Bottom or a Spine Buster before the People's Elbow. People forget the setup.
@@dexenationgracey1979 I don't forget. I just feel a pinfall should be close to 3 not 30. Rock won a last man standing match every time he delivered the elbow.
