Loose cannon is far and away the hardest primary for demo for a brand new player to pick up and get acquainted with and maybe even one of the hardest for a seasoned player.
Its one of the most unique items gameplay wise in the entire game.

It's not something I'd use all the time as Demo, even though you Cannon fact deal more damage if your timing is good enough, but I do use it sometimes when I just wanna let Loose.

I think overall, while does deal less damage than the Stock Grenade Launcher, if you manage to hit a Double Donk then it can deal more damage than the Stock Grenade Launcher. And while the cannonballs don’t explode on contact it does have the benefit of dealing knockback which can be a very good for denying pushes.
Basically, it’s the old Loch-n-Load but you have to time your shots to get that extra damage.

I think loose cannon goes really well with a shield and the eyelander. Double donks deal enough damage to kill any non-overhealed enemy, minus heavy, with a mini-crit melee hit. Also, good scouts will be a headache almost as much as well-placed sentries.

I've used this weapon almost exclusively for the past month and fighting sentries is my favorite thing is when an engineer is hitting his sentry with his wrench just charge a shot and BAM he is dead and soon so will his sentry

My thoughts on the Loose Cannon are that it needs to mini-crit when airblasted. Airblasting it and actually not having it explode in your face anyway is hard enough due to the fuse mechanic, so it's really disappointing that even if you double-donk a demo with his own projectile, it does about 40 damage. It's great for fucking with pyros because Valve forgot to do that.
OP weapon. Knockback is one of the most valuable mechanics you can have, instantly cancel charging demos, keep the pyros away, send jumping people to the space. Stun lock people with double donks. When you pair it with a shield you can still bomb jump more comfortably than with grenade launcher. And it's more fun if you ask me.
I love when I encounter annoying snipers while using this weapon because the feeling of overload jumping followed by a charge with the tide turner so you land next to them as you proceed to knock them into the stratosphere is one of the coolest things you can do in tf2

Me, as a pyro main who isnt very good at airblasting fighting against a loose cannon: *panic*
the only tip I would suggest is to " Aim at groups"
This provides two benefits. It seperates the group, pushing them in multiple directions, but also helps obtain more damage per shot. while a simple pipe does large damage to clusters, a cannonball will scatter them, putting only one or two of them in the medic's reach.
bonus for using loose cannon its good for killing the engineer behind the sentry because the projectile goes through the sentry because it didnt explode in impact
What i really like about the loose cannon is timing the explosions. While grenade launcher rollers are almost based off luck the loose cannon even if you miss the player the splash damage will probably hit either way unlike a grenade launcher if you miss tough shit try to get lucky that some dumb shit walks onto it.
Way back when I used to run this for getting heads on my hybrid demo-knight. The pushback on the cannon opens targets up for easy charges, and the predictable rolling helps for zoning when running for a health kit.

The projectile speed is effectively slower than stock bc of how Source calculates drag on the large cannonballs. Similar to how while the locknload fires the same projectile as stock, it goes more than 20% further as it doesn't spin in the air.

They REALLY need to make this weapon usable in medieval mode. It gets kinda boring when the ONLY demo loadout is demoknight.
I love the Loose cannon because of it knock back. I sent an ubered heavy really REALLY far away. 😂😂
This is my go to weapon as a Demo main. My reason is that this being combo’d with the Stock Sticky, it is a literal area denial threat. Yeah, it can’t destroy the sentry, but that’s what the sticky is for. Sticky for setups, Loose Cannon for literally stop their entire momentum of pushing, Hell, Even the Splash damage from the Cannon balls are pretty good. Plus the fact the projectile can bounce around and the splash damage radius Is almost like the Quickie Bomb Launcher but it blows up at an immediate time. Yeah, it ain’t the best for close range fights, but playing the game where your spacing matters is just perfect.
I found myself having a lot more fun with loose cannon, tideturner and pan/eyelander

Honestly if you want to train your use of loose cannon I recommend doing the classic 2fort sticky jump and harrass snipers, It helped train me to the the timing right and it's also kinda like sniper, while it's not always needed to get a headshot still try to if you are able since it allows to to get better timing for different ranges and situations. I actually love the loose cannon not as like the best demo weapon but more as a fun meme type weapon and I cant tell you the amout of times I saved my head being taken off by a demo night worh thing thing. It can completely halt a charge

I think it CAN be a better nade launcher than stock, the only thing holding it back is that the charge time isn't actually a full gradient bar, but multiple steps on said bar that it doesnt show.
It is a really fun weapon and can be effective. Also, I found out that Loose Cannon jumping is very similar to overloaded Beggar's bazooka jumping.
Demo’Main’ and I love the loose Cannon. The advantage of course is the knockBack, it’s great to have as surprise close range push or opposite if you’re rushed from a corner and you get the spacing you need to either switch out for stickes, or melee with a shield. If double sinks aren’t reliable for you, the knockBack is the best counter to make room moving forward down choke points.

I find it can't combo as well with demomans other weapons as well, as a demoknight you don't want to be hitting people away from you, and if you are sticky trapping you'll be knocking them out of your own traps, and saving them. If you're using the stock sticky bomblauncher, well lets face it, *that* is basically your primary. But I like your idea of using it with the sticky jumper, think I'll give it a shot.

You CAN blast jump with the loose cannon, it's just very risky because of how much damage you take
I can't remember how many times ice been cussed out for using the loose cannon.
You can sticky jump with the sticky jumper, then "Overload" the loose cannon to get a better jump
Idk why but the second I got it I started doing really good with it. However, here are days sometimes where I don’t do so well with it and just start using the grenade launcher again but it’s the funnest weapon to me to use.

Loose cannon is fun however its kinda weird for me because usually i expect to get 100 dmg in a direct hit but it feels weird when stuff like that happens, the loose cannon is not bad however it lacks its consistent damage

Scout - 2 pills with stock, 1 pill with the cannon
Soldier - 2 pills with each, but if the Soldier has the battalions backup, then the stock has to hit 3 pills and the cannon only has to hit 2
Pyro - 2 for each, but when you hit only 1 double donk, it leaves him really low, so one direct cannon shot will end him
Demoman - 2 for each, but the same thing with pyro
Heavy - 3 for each, but the same thing with pyro, but you have to hit 2 double donks
Engi - 2 for stock, 1 for the cannon
Medic - 2 for each, but the same thing with pyro
Sniper - 2 for stock, 1 for the cannon
Spy - 2 for stock, 1 for the cannon
And you might think that, oh only 1 pill of difference It's not a big deal, but hitting the second pipe is always the hardest while fighting

You know why I like the loose cannon? Because I use it a hybrid Knight weapon to meme all over those fools in pubs!
I'd use it if:
1. I wasn't setting up Arch Linux
2. I had a decent rig
and 3. I hadn't earned an aussie 'nade launcher from my 13th tour.
