Great video and very informative and helpful, I would just like to mention that the units for levels of loudness are measured in dBHL not dB which is a slightly different scale but the main information stands.
I had surgery Stapedectomy The titanium wire was eventually covered by the bone and stopped working No one ever mentions that can happen I had hearing for 5 years after surgery
I haven't heard that happening either, so what did you do ? Can you have it done again or do you have to use a hearing aid now ? I'm considering the operation myself
@@Mattlock it does happen, but not very often. I would recommend going to the operation because for a few years, I did have hearing. You can’t do it again once the bones have melted over top of the wires because there’s nothing left to hook it up to.
@@camillevote7901I’m so sorry!!!! :( I’m here bc my hearing keeps getting worse and I stumbled across this condition as a possible cause. Is there bc an underlying issue that causes the bones to respond like this????
My otosclerosis was activated by the change in Hormones due to pregnancy. It worsened with each pregnancy. Pregnancy hormones activated the genes that were dormant that caused my otosclerosis.
Hello sir I am one who is suffering from this disease and after consulting with Doctor he recommends me to go for surgery but there is a risk of damage of ear or hearing will be better. My question is, what is the success rate of this surgery?
I just had the surgery 6 weeks ago and I can hear for the first time in 38 years. The risk is quite minimal. I lost 2/3 of the feeling of my tongue and taste, but this ought to come back.
@@MohammadEisaAli I did audiology test and in tympanogram it showed 'As ' type doctor Said it is Because of osteosclerosis.I am Suffering from one side ear blovkage and tinnitus(clicking Sounds).doctor Said no Treatment required since my hearing test came out Normal..but I am worried if it is Something Else and not diagonized Properly..
@@swadhi4665 You can't have your hearing test on audiogram normal if you are diagnosed with osteosclerosis. Possibly you either have very low/mild so no treatment needed
During pregnancy all the symptoms are aggravated but pregnancy itself is not a cause. And one can find similar effects when using contraceptive pills. But so well explained and 10/10 for lovely animations✨❤️

I am confused. Like what stopped working? Temporary or more permanent issue?
@@spooksyschannel3038 the disease causes the bones to fuse over the wire and it couldn’t vibrate anymore. It rarely happens

Pregnancy is also a risk factor for otosclerosis
What do you mean?
No it’s not
Pregnancy and menopause can also worsen otosclerosis
My otosclerosis was activated by the change in Hormones due to pregnancy. It worsened with each pregnancy. Pregnancy hormones activated the genes that were dormant that caused my otosclerosis.
Reason 745 for never taking children 😂
Does the ringing in ear get louder when around noise? Is this cause of otosclerosis?
Thank you 🙏😊
No mention of Carhartt's notch ???

I agree with some researchers that Beethoven's hearing loss was due to otosclerosis, and how about you (guys)?
Which one is better... Stapedectomy or Stapedotomy...
Carhart notch is also seen
Any yoga ??
I have one side ear and throat blockage...Is it a symptom of this oosteosclerosis ...anybody have this symptom as wrll
Throat blockage isn't associate with osteospongosis. Side ear blockage is very vague symptom and could be due to many aetiologies .
