Amazing how clean the market is, I visited Laos in '73 and I can tell you that it looked different then. I love the people in Laos, wherever you go, they are friendly and genuine, such a lovely country, down to Earth. I should go back to have another look, even the roads are so much better. Thanks for the video, I am enjoying doing a bit of armchair travel with you. I was in Laos during the Vietnam war, there was fighting, military coup d'etats, curfews, etc, this is so much better.
It's always great to see lively markets. Oh how I miss to travel.
I barely spotted a bloke anywhere mate.... Looks like a good spot hey! 👍👍👍👍
looking good pizza, must be very a good taste love it,please enjoy, thanks
if you say this looking good pizza you not has newer see before real good pizza, this have big fake and horriple taste shit fake pizza.
Always love the music in your vids!
Best market yet Todd heaps of talent roaming the aisles
Best mapping display ever for your channel. Liked the market footage too. Dirt has gone from red clay to pale crushed rock in south. Even saw some 🌴 trees. I agree with you on the pizza sauce but the sweet lady tried to do her best.
Enn there has the food panda service, that means their internet services wouldn’t be so bad as many would’ve imagined. Thanks for this sharing Todd👍
Hi Todd, I was in Vientiane in 1999, seeing your videos showing how far the city and the country have come in 22 yrs, when I was there only the main road was tarmac, only one set of traffic lights, no internet, no mobile phone coverage, the country looks as stunning as always. Thx for your tours and vlog.
Would've loved to have seen it back then. I've been coming since 2014 and have noticed big changes in that time, I can only imagine the changes you're seeing.
Yes the development is impressive, one thing I notice there isn’t a great military presence in Vientiane as much as there was in 99, back then almost every major intersection had troops on it, strange for an Aussie to see armed military on the streets, apart from that it was spectacular to sit on the side of the Great Mekong cold beer great food, all for les than $2 US dollars, stay safe, and enjoy
@@NowinLao, I loved it, I never ,even back then was worried about being there, if you follow the rules no one follows you, I stayed in the Le Maison hotel, probably redeveloped by now, cost $11 dollars a night,
Great video. 👍
Great video , it’s good to see the regional areas of Laos 😃👍
Cold Beer Lao is heaven.
Good vdo
Happy Valentines Day a little late. Stay well. Best wishes Bob.
Keep going I like and support all your video from Cambodia 🇰🇭❤️🇱🇦
Glad that nice little melons comment was at the food market lol
"Bar fridge, cool", never underestimate the importance of a bar fridge. Cheers Nee Nee & Todd
Huge market. You are an attraction there as the only foreigner. Great insights into the life of the Laotians.Thx.
Thank you for the great video! What was the name of the hotel where you stayed in Attapeu?
Todd I enjoy your videos exploring these markets. A great feature of Laos and other countries in the region. I watch Neenee`s video about your COVID jabs hope both you are well not suffering any side effects.
Hey Geoffrey.. thanks mate. Yeah we're good. I've felt no side effects whatsoever. Neenee's arm was a little sore where she had the needle and been a little tired, but other than that, all good 👍
One night in Bangkok, one night in Attapeu, but how many nights in Viengjan (Vientiane)? Lao has the mildest weather in the world. People there just take it for granted. We just came out of a deep freez here in Central Canada.
Nice work Mr T “ stepping out “ 😂 - pizza , absolutely need a lot of tomato paste on the base - presentation ok 🤔 - nice area - stay safe 😷🍻🇦🇺👍🙏
I may have to stop watching your videos. Every time I do I start missing Thailand, well all of SE Asia for that mater. They make me want to pack up and head back. Of course borders are closed and I do need 2 more years before I retire. So I guess I will have to settle on watching your videos and being hart broken. Thanks Buddy
You are on the edge of a large National Park, maybe next time.
🤗🙏🏼!
You guys are so adorable at the end there 👩❤️💋👨
Yes, she barely waved that tomato sauce over the crust, good choice on not watching it being made.
It looked like it was a nice relaxing market to walk through.
Thank you 🙏🏼 and take care.
Love your videos!!!! I notice that many ladies wear jacket, is the weather that cool?
Thank you.
To protect themselves from the sun. We like to get a tan, they like to stay pale as possible.
Hello Todd A little girl’s expression (7 44 to 8 10 minutes) is astonishing, her curious expression about a farang talking to a camera is unmissable.
Great that your living in luxury.
Great videos. Did you ever eat the ant eggs? For me, it tastes similar to vegemite on a mushroom, but that's probably me.
Attapeu, Nice place. population of about 20,000..
Foodpanda: Their version of our Uber eats and Menulog ( Australia).Shame about the Pizza that was scarce of a good tomato base.
Cheers.Kenno...West Aust
Looks like you were a farang rockstar there.
Tasty 11:01 buffalo placenta.
I'll pass on that - khop chai der.
20:53 - Pizza and a Beer Lao is ideal!
Buffalo Children...LOL!! she cracked me up LOL5555!! it's Buffalo placenta :-)
first woo hoo lol
mangos in the uk are £300 for two and dragon fruit is £4.00 each
Have you been to Vat Phou? It's what once was the big city. As I recall there is an elephant carved into a big rock. Also an alligator that is the size of a man. Well worth a visit if your in the area. It's in Champasack so it will be to your north.
Also if in Pakse check out the giant Buddha on the hillside.
Damn I miss that place now. If staying in the area the Mekong Paradise Hotel is tops. We have a house right on the river west of a tiny town just north of Pakse.
Enjoy Joe... there's about 5 other vids from Pakse also 👌

wow to big market
Hooves? I thought they were trotters in Aussie
Lucky I don't have smellovision. Been there, done that.
Happy 11May Here in San Antonio Texas
Find somebody that has a barbecue close and fry up some fish and garlic with greens, they call it Lunch. I'd stay away from the guts, probably not good to eat. Same with the Ants just in case. These markets are very interesting, so many things to look at.
Like all your videos mate. Looks a great country. But why all the litter everywhere??????
Thanks mate.
Yeah its unfortunate about the rubbish. It varys depending on the province you're in. I've seen more rubbish in the south than I have in all my time in Lao. You don't notice near as much in the northern parts if Lao.
It’s becoming a epidemic all over the world!! The UK has its fair share. People don’t seem to care anymore.Trouble is ,how will it end up???
Update on relaxatiin massadge scene please 🙏🙏🙏
like your vlogs mate..just wonder what visa you have for laos..i am considering there
thank you keep up the good work
Cheers, thanks Don. I'm on a spouse visa, but will be doing a comprehensive video on all visas in the coming weeks. Just need to wait for lockdown to finish so I can meet with this visa guy 👌
todd looks like you could fold it in half and eat it like a sarni them pizzas
Can anyone let me know if credit cards are excepted and if there are cash points in cities or bestway to take money many thanks
I'm glad I found this channel... having been to Vietnam so many times in the last 30 years, and Thailand, and Cambodia, I left Laos for last because I was worried about the snakes and the laws. But I'm ready to check it out next time. It's kind of mind blowing considering how long that border is between Laos and Vietnam... 1300 miles, over 2,000 km. The snake I've heard about a lot is known as a "Two Step" with the legend being after a bite, you take 2 steps and die. It's not that bad and if you get to a hospital with anti-venom you can be saved. It's some kind of a "Banded Krait". Did not notice any snakes for sale at the markets there yet. Maybe they are more popular for eating in Vietnam. I've had them cooked 4 or 5 different ways. Luckily I've been a vegan for the last 5 years and I don't have to eat beating snake hearts when I'm drinking with friends. lol
Hey Mal, great to have you along mate. I'm actually surprised at how few snakes I've seen in all my travels in Lao, and I do venture off the well beaten paths a lot. Maybe the Lao have eaten most of them. Guaranteed I would've seen 10 times the amount of snakes if this was Australia I was capturing... pretty sure you're safe mate 👍
Have a good one 🙏
Good to know Todd. I'm headed there next time I'm in the vicinity...Thanks !!
0:13 a good friend of mine lives in Thailand. He took he to a Thai restaurant and said "eat this, I'll tell you what it is later." How can you truly enjoy a meal when someone starts it like that lol, but it was actually really good. It ended up being frogs. I still makes my skin crawl looking at a frog moving around, but it was tasty. Probably not my must have, but it was good. 19:14 Im half Italian mate. That little bit of sauce was like a slap across the face haha
frog have normal food thailand and lao. my five farm million frog and sell. same somethink fly animal i not know what have. grow and sell ewery month lot. before she make chikkens and fish and mushroom many others but stay now own chikken make egg and have frog and fly animal farm.
I would have a very small piece of buffalo placenta cooked. Just to say I tried it. After a few beers.
Keeps you regular hahahahaha. That city has some beautiful woman working in the markets. Is it easy to get a wife there? Happy Valentine’s Day guys. Stay safe. ❤️🇨🇦❤️ Cheers!!!
🙏👍👍👍👍
I was at the Thai Lao market in Nong Khai , only farang there , some mad food for sale I declined most of it , rats and horrible shit ...i stay with chicken or pork , but I love it up in Isaan 5555
Where are the customers?
How do these vendors survive?
Loog karh pai sai mote. Penh ta etholl
I feel sad for the vendors/customers.
You needed a little vegemite pizza brother. I saw that pizza and said no way I would eat it. I would of found some beef or chicken with vegetables for supper. I guess when you travel it is hard to find places to stay that have little kitchens. Heck I would ask a neighbor at where I was staying and by the meat and do Kabobs. I cook in my home and I do Vietnamese, Thai, Latin, Greek, German schnitzel. I cook many foods from many nations plus plain American hot dish haha. Sorry about the land price mix up, the wife even said we did it by your price US and broke it down to Lao money. Funny how we both messed up as she has a university degree in architecture and structural engineering and I have engineering and was a master journeyman in HVAC-R for 30 years in heavy industry. I worked in skyscrapers, Boing aircraft plants, Kenworth manufacturing plants, and government bases. Then helped build Las Vegas Nevada, a real shit hole place after 15 years living there. I enjoy You and Neenee, look forward to the next video .PEACE!!
👍❤️
How can you eat that pizza?
Wtf...afterbirth of the Buffalo... r u kidding me..thought I’d seen it all....lol
Just curious, Why does she think that the Vietnamese people wouldn't wanna be on camera?
Are there many westerners there?
In Attapeu..? I can't recall seeing another while we were there. We weren't there for long tho..
That so called pizza...no thank you! In Luang Prabang I had a good pizza, I was happy with it. In Thailand I have had a few really good pizzas, that have been among the best ones I eaten, and also the worst one. A frozen micro pizza... and another one that made my stomach hearts. It is always an adventure ordering farang food when the locals make it ;)
not can say pizza have shit freeze pizza base and little shit top, totally not aroi. pizza base not good, oven not good big shit.
@@mattivirta Were you drunk when you wrote that. It is not really understandable...
@@jonasjohnsson4429 i not drunk newer, i no need and like beer or alchohol. but this pizza have totally shit. same thailand have all pizza shop only big shit not can made any good pizza. and pineapple not ewer adding to pizza if have normal human, monkey use pineapple but not human.
@@mattivirta You still write like a drunk man. There are many good pizzerias in South East Asia, at least in both Laos and Thailand, and there are a few bad ones.
it looks a lot like a less populated Philippines
Would the flies contaminate the food, I've seen flies around the food many times and have been concerned about the safety of the food
Only if you're eating it raw. Same with street food, if it's been sitting out for a little bit, Just get them to throw it back on the hot coals for a while and you're good to go. Never had food poisoning here yet... plenty of hangovers tho 🙄
@@NowinLao ok that's great to hear, lots of hangovers 😂😂😂 that's a good one LoL
Like watching this as I think where will you be in 20 years from now ?
You make money when your young but I can't see your retirement.
Good luck in your early poor choice but you'll certainly see a lot.
After Buffalo placenta any meat is going to look good. Ant eggs are very hard to eat, getting a small enough spoon is difficult 🤣
When I eat Lao food, I always remind myself it's better than processed western food. So many obesity is a norm here in the US....
Is that a cheap country in comparison to Vietnam?
Hello from Ohio in the state of USA 🇺🇸 your wife is from Lao?👍
@@NowinLao awesome, you both live there full time or just a long vacation? Just curious😁
@@lisavail5712 Until Covid i would work in Australia 3 months then return to Lao for 3 months, repeat. I was lucky to be in Lao when the world went into lockdown. Not so lucky about my job tho.. but would not change anything, This is where I'm meant to be 💚
@@NowinLao wow that’s awesome you got to be there 3 months and months back home that’s really nice! Hope is ok to ask😉is your work helping people there or something different?😊I am Hmong I came to the USA from Lao! I saw 1 of your video visited the Hmong village!
@@lisavail5712 No, it was just an arrangement I had with my employer in Australia, to work only 6 months a year. Can't do that anymore now I'm "stuck" here..
Right.. yeah I have a few videos visiting Hmong villages. Probably my favorite people to visit here. They are so friendly and welcoming and rich in culture.
The girls here are noticeably prettier and their skin fairer than those in Vientianne and Luang Prabang. Wonder if there’s any influence because they being nearer to the Vietnam border. 🤔
😃😃😀😄🙂🙂🤠
💯💙🔥👍
Most of the phones are probably cheap Chinese knock offs that don't last five minutes hence the plethora of stores? A shit pizza....maybe you should have tried the ant eggs? 👍👍😊😊
Super funny @19:44 🍺
10:36 (kai mod daeng)😜
your wife very nice
Why most people don’t wear masks?
This was videoed in February when there was no community spread of the virus. Rest assured, they're wearing them now
@@NowinLao ooh ok, thank you for the clarification I was like seriously 😳 lolol
👍👍🇱🇦🙏
Never, EVER order pizza from a street vendor or even from a franchise like the Pizza Company (in Laos & Thailand). I made that bad mistake two years ago. I ordered a Pizza Company pizza at the restaurant and it was very dry, had little tomato sauce (Just like your pizza! Apparently, the Lao/Thai people don't like to eat tomato sauce!) and the pizza tasted like a cardboard box. I mean even Domino's Pizza in America has improved to be edible.
It's more like pastry than pizza. Need to bring your own tomato paste. Can buy at minimart.
Bwahaha I dont want to watch her make it. Yah I now understand Italians pure discust at american pizza (esp Hawaiian which i love) because everywhere ive been they do and add things to pizza that feel like abuse to my american pallete. Ive seen corn, shrimp (with the heads and tails), potatoes, mustard, cranberries, mayo, pork hotdogs, a few others i cant remember.
I want to see you eat the buffalo children
Todd,, the pizza ,,,,,meeeehhhh. Didn't look too tasty. Some of the grilled stuff in the market looked good. But I love the markets. Lol some of those women,,,their eyes just kinda grab you by the balls. I was curious about the quiet ones too. Probably snuck across the border like the covid infested Thai men. Glad you guys got vaccinated. That was a bit earlier than expected wasn't it? Good thing nonetheless. The buffalo placenta thing was rather revolting. I wouldn't eat that with my worst enemy's mouth. Just pure yuck. Anyway,, take care brother,,Ttyl,,,Marlon
Regarding the 🐜 ant's eggs, in Thailand they do an ant's egg's omelette. I've tried it a couple of times, it's not bad, but it's not nice 👎
Wife says your mad not trying the buffalo afterbirth. You need to try dung Beatle grubs from a buffaloes turd too
Perfect vid, bro!....(but there's no thumbs down!)....So....I'm going to have to give you a thumbs down....just to be cool....right?!....I love haters!...hahahahha...Great stuff!❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤
I will pass on the Buffalo baby too
I'm here with my wife
