finally sieko starts bringing more timepieces with saphire and ceramic (two things i need for a daily driver dive watch )
I’m ok with sapphire but ceramic bezels are too reflective and brittle.

The bezel insert is amazing looking, i plan to buy the stock turtle in black dial and than add oem ceramic bezel. I wonder if bezels will be available for sale as spare parts
I finally got mine last week!
Just checked their website, and these are going for $750. Hopefully the price drops after the hype is over. Though on the same site, the basic black version is just north of $500.
I really like the Turtle, I have 3. It’s a really cool watch and used to be reasonably priced.
The cyclops completely kills it for me, I really don’t understand why they chose to put it on. It’s also a little pricey. I would say it really not worth what they want for this.
Black or the green. at first i was 100% sold on the black, but the green has grown on me so much.
I really hope Seiko will release a Samurai with those upgrades.
My skx crown was grindy like metal on metal. I put a touch of the Seiko gasket grease on the threaded tube and instantly it was buttery smooth and still is a year later. That Seiko grease is great for gaskets and more. You can find it on eBay.

The black waffle dial without the cyclops AND without day/date complication. Would shell out $$ for that.

I love the Turtle but this model I do not like the Cyclops, everything else perfect. Maybe I have to check it out in person. But I wonder how much $ to remove it.

So, Seiko finally have what watches costing hundreds less have. Now, I have a warm spot in my heart for Seiko, as one of my first watches as a teenager was a Seiko, but this is just too expensive.

Is the new turtle the same size as the other turtles? It looked slimmer than the others. Maybe the strap gave that illusion.
Ooh, just saw the price. Yeah, that's a bit steep. Seikolex? There are so many great watches for $600, at that price point, there's just so much choice.
Thats msrp. Most retailers sell it for $450. The watch is worth that easily.

Bought this watch at Macy's for 400 bucks..a month later I bought the king samurai seiko at the same place for the same price.

Know where I can get a ceramic luminous bezel insert for my blue turtle? That and the sapphire crystal make this watch cool, but not so sure about the price. I got my brand new Sumo for that coin.
If you google it, plenty results show up, such as LCBI (lumed ceramic bezel inserts). Having several different manufacturers and multitudes of variations, it's probably best for you to take your time and do your own research; the true fun of customising is making your vision come to life. (:

nope. This is just the JDM one. Small differences include "Made in Japan" at 6 o''clock, but on paper, they should be the same

Just noticed the jdm version is $1600. International version around $400. Didn't used to be that size discrepancy. Maybe a few hundred max. Seems like jdm is now in price gouging mode. For $1600 I can get the 6r35 luxury turtle with left over.

The cyclops is made of plastic, that´s why you can remove it with heat if you want, it´s just glued on the crystal

NO difference, accept some people prefer or trust the Made in Japan and felt happy about it with the MIJ on the dial or back case.
No. From what I see only looks and to tell you the truth not worth double the price of STO. IMO.
Part of me wants the JDM version but then again I would like the date to be in English. Might not go JDM on this one
The date can be either in kanji or english. i have a couple of made in japan seiko watches and they have both.

If you change it to Saturday in Japanese language will it then roll through all Japanese days of week as the week rolls on?
I only ask this as when you cycled the date wheel the English and Japanese words were after each other

By no means
It looks great on my 8.5 inch wrists.
The lug to lug is 48 mm. I can easily pull this off with a 7.5inch wrist
I have a 12.8 inch wrist and it's killer.
I like the ceramic bezel, and sapphire crystal, they’ve ruined the watch with date magnifier though. Obviously chapter ring is misaligned.

I love seiko. Sadly the accuracy of my turtle padi is not that great.
Richard Bertoso it’s pretty easy to solve. Your just unlucky that you got an inaccurate piece ootb, send it to a local watch smith have him check, usually no issues. Just ask the watch smith to adjust the watch to make it accurate and also do some minor maintenance to your watch. Sometimes your work place could be affecting the accuracy, if your working in power plants, power station, radio station etc which could affect the hair springs revolution making it off beat and the time will be miss regulated.
They had all the the right ingredients from *the great white edition*(SBDY031).The foundation was there.
They should have just removed the circular pattern from the bezel ,add the color scheme of the srp777 and remove the "save the ocean"motif. Put an ar coated treated sapphire crystal, fit a proper 22mm diver bracelet worthy of a toolwatch and sort the alignment issues.Done.500-600 USmax.Done.
You could have had your perfect "entry level" dive watch in the prospex dive watch family.
These prices are just obscene and seiko are are taking advantage of their customers and fanbase.
I appreciate the info and review but you spend 3:20 talking while we look at the box. The lume comparison is great, I wish more reviewers did them like this. I want to see better lume on ALL watches.

It's either Japan or Malaysia. If it doesn't say, it's Malaysia. Movement is Japanese usually, regardless.

I think some pieces are manufactured in Malaysia. I dunno if it's the case for all Seikos, but that's what some of the model numbers that end with -K or -J designations. The US market sometimes gets the ones from Malaysia or another country so it doesn't have the Kanji day/date wheel.

My huge gripe on the king turtle is the bloody cyclops
All made in same factory in Malaysia.
None are made in Japan, except grand Seiko.

Not true. There is a Japan-sourced model. This has been the case in the past btw. Past Turtles had a made in Japan version and a Malaysia made version. Japanese ones always have the kanji date wheel, if I'm not mistaken.
With import fees It would become a 750 dollar watch for me. Better pop some sapphire myself in an older 300 dollar version or buy a Chinese turtle for 200 bucks with all the extra's minus the cyclops.
They are much more expensive in Ireland’ €600 & more

This watch is ruined because of the X on dial, the rubber band needs to always be the Z 22 rubber strap.
Just make the 6309- 704& and make it exact to the 6309....you will not believe how many Seiko diver purist will purchase that....the prospect line has gotten out of hand, good watch but nothing like the original Seiko 6309 ....
Green Seiko dive watches are my thing but this dial looks cheap to me. Looks like the dials that come on knock off Royal Oaks.

No thanks. Buy the turtle you want and have a crystal with a lumed ceramic bezel added. You won't have that ridiculous cyclops and obnoxious waffle dial, AND have some coin left-over.
