    Thank you for this video, and your videos in general. Very big help for those of us that find it a fun part of our hobby to do this stuff ourselves.

    I use two levels. One goes on the pic rail of the rifle and the other goes on the top of turret scope. It worked.

    I have the hunting model, I have no need for the other. I thought maybe the quality would be lessened , but boy I was wrong. This really is a well thought out base and rings. Well worth the price.
    I used lock tight blue for the base, powdered resign for the ring groves, and no Lock tight on the ring screws.
    The powdered resign really help getting a positive hold, just that little friction is helpful for sure. I was a lucky one using the 10 degree tool, it was perfect…. Wish I had it that easy on all my scopes.
    Thanks for all of your spuhr video, the helped me

    I purchased a nib ISMS-QDP-4016. I was following this video, and set my driver to 45 in lb not realizing your fastening system is different. As a result, I'm left with a broken mount. 😭
    I sent Spuhr an email to address options, so keeping my fingers crossed! 🤦🤞🙏

    Just ordered from Mile High. Also ordered the Spuhr 20 moa pic rail to mount on a Tikka T3X CTR. Went back and forth and ended up ordering the 1.18”. After I put all this on a Bravo X-Ray stock with a NX8 4x32x50, worried now I maybe should have ordered the 1.5” height.

    Awesome.. SMB knowledge at its finest. Excellent video. Can you actually over tighten the tube on a scope and damage it?

    • @speedloads2469
      @speedloads2469  5 років тому +1

      Haha, thanks Brandon, always love seeing your comments here. Thanks for taking the time to watch these. Yes sir, as a matter of fact, you can over tighten the rings, which can damage the main tube. Over tightening can also bind and/or create friction within the power selector ring assembly, causing premature wear. Some scopes are more susceptible to this than others. With optics, you really get what you pay for.

      An agency asked me to look at one of their sniper rifles. The guy assigned to it couldn’t qualify with it. I found the tube was crushed both in front of the turret saddle, and behind it. But someone had to be an overachiever. After they crushed it, they moved the scope in the rings, and crushed it again. There was about an inch of the tube crushed both in front of, and behind the turrets. I don’t know if they torqued it to 65 in/lbs, or got inch pounds and foot pounds confused. The good news was Leupold rebuilt the scope for $120.

    So there should be a slight gap on each side of the ring caps? It doesnt need to be touching flush on each side?

    Awesome video man. Okay so now what height is best suited for my build it's a impact precision action with 20moa rail already mounting a razor gen 2 4.5-27x56 on it. I'm looking at the 1.18" but idk if it'll fit as I'll also like to add a bit more moa onto the mount.

    You said that those scrues (at scope rings) have special coating that you dont have to using loctite?

    Looking at a quick detach version of this mount. Would you recommend it as much as the non quick detach? I also can’t find the non version anywhere.

    What are the extra screw holes in the sides for? Spare screws or?

    Great video and information, im buying the atacr 7-35 with a sphur mount. Im a bit confused as to which one to get though. I think the ism models have 18 of them. I have a 20 moa egw base on a stock savage precision 110 in 6.5. I dont need a tilted or canted mount so is it the 0 moa 34 mm mount good for just typical out to a thousand yard shooting? There is also two different lengths on the 34 mm tubes are you familiar with which one best fits the atacr?

    Can you over tighten your ring mounts and run the risk of deforming your scope tube perhaps?

    • @sorenfranson3323
      @sorenfranson3323 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, regardless of the mount manufacturer's recommendation always check the scope manufacturer's specification for maximum torque to ensure that you do not over-torque the rings and thereby damage the scope tube.

    So logically, after the scope is mounted, I can remove the base and scope together and reinstall it onto the other rifle, and just zero it?

    • @mlentsch
      @mlentsch 2 роки тому

      No - this wedge thing is like the Scalarworks screw - they only level the scope to the mount, which is fine for an LVPO. The mount could still be canted on the rail, which is why he mentions to verify level with a "plumb-bob" at the range.... Which means that for precision LR you still have to level your scope the old-fashioned way.

  • @triggeredmonkey3439
    @triggeredmonkey3439 3 роки тому +1

    You're not leveling the scope!
    You're squaring the scope to the mount. Don't worry about the spirit level while doing this procedure. Spirit level is only used when adjusting the cant on your rifle.

    I had an issue with a Vortex Gen 3 and the scope level on this Sphur mount. I put together a quick video showing the issue. Let me know what you think: ua-cam.com/video/rP37e0VErAQ/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared

    There is not only no "special coating" on the screws but they have WAX on them. If you want the best result you should DEGREASE them and use Loctite! You would know if you READ THE MANUAL.

    Just did my base to 45 inch pounds and snapped a screw off. Don’t follow that advice

    • @npet6842

      I start with half the recommended on anything , and ease it up as far as my nerves will handle . For example on a SAKO muzzle brake for a TRG42A1 they recommend 10 nm , but I quit at 8nm . Thanks for your warning : my dark earth 4002 arrived this afternoon and I'll assemble it with a Steiner 7xi tomorrow .

    • @tiputipu777
      @tiputipu777 2 роки тому

      45 inch pounds is what Spuhr cites in their instructions. If you snapped a screw either you gave it way more than 45 or you had a defected screw.
