I don't get why people dislike the look that much. It has grown alot on me, but the M sport package is definitely a must as far as the aesthetics are concerned.
I was on the fence with it only seeing the press pictures. But I got to see it in the metal last weekend and sat in both this and the 135 and they are from what I could work out better than the one before it. I hope they bring out the 128ti again. I would love to get the 135 but it's. A bit out my price range at the moment.
I think the people who don’t like it, complain that it looks like other brands. I for one, think the front end looks like a Kia, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. The car looks classy, has a really nice interior (especially compared to the likes of VW), and it looks like a really good package. I do wish BMW still sold the diesel engine with 190ps, but I just have to get used to the fact that diesel is being phased out. Either way, having just seen one on the road yesterday too, I’d have no problem looking to buy one.
@@chm1701 I've read that there is a diesel one but not sure if we will get it. I so wsntrd to hate it after wanting to get a 128ti. But after seeing it in the showroom and sitting in it. I changed my mind. It's really nice. The wheels though are shocking I hope there will be more options to pick from.
If you’re a keen driver - and you’re not obsessed with having a blue and white roundel on the nose of your car - I think the Mazda3 is a better buy. Just as good (maybe even better) to drive, just as nice inside, and you can have it with one of the best manual gearboxes around.
I wanted a test drive in the base model 120 Sport 2025 but it seems that the dealers in Devon and Cornwall have only been given the M Sport as demonstrators. I had an M Sport 2024 model and my passengers complained about the harsh suspension, so I wanted to test the base model for suspension character. This test has shown me what I needed to know about the suppleness of the suspension. Thanks. If anyone knows of a dealer with the base model as a demonstrator, add a comment below.
I‘m only hear the hate comments. Adding one myself: I love BMW, but it’s been such an ideotic choice to build the 1 series on a FWD platform. Love my F21.
Okay, okay....Matt, yes as you have said with all the new design language BMWs, having seen a new 120 in the metal... very similar spec to the one you are driving here... it looks really good. There is an unequalled quality to BMW. Another winner from BMW. Hopefully BMW will bring back the 128ti?
We have ours on order in Perth Scotland. A very good buy for a retired couple who want comfort and quality. You get all of that and more with the 120 Sport. The cockpit environment is similar to the Airbus A330 which was strapped to my backside for many years. (Porsche Industry designed that flight deck.)
The 123 has almost the same 0-100 time as the previous 128, but that’s probably due to it being able to put the power down more efficiently as it’s an x drive. I’m defo thinking about the 123 😁
It doesn't look like a BMW......it can be easily mistaken on the road as a Ford focus or a Kia Ceed..... There are neither angel eyes (or the more modern variations) to be found nor the distinctive vertical kidney grills The quality of the materials and the overall feeling.....yes....are probably premium....but it lacks the dynamic appearance of the typical BMW......
Considering buying it too. Dealer just messaged me that it's available for a test drive now. Just dont understand why they don't make a hybrid version 😐
Hiya Matt- as previously requested, please can you share meaningful info on pricing and cost of options on your videos to be more informative to your viewer. Thank you. Christopher
It's not a review... it's a sales pitch! He didn't even know that the wheels on the model he was driving were 19" and he was definitely lying about a supple drive. I test drove one on 18's and it was very firm!
BMW just loves ruining the interiors of every new generation. I genuinely don't understand how someone who apparently went to a design school and got the job as a designer in a major car company can have so little taste and be so bad at actually designing things.
Sorry, I don’t like the front grill bottom half is split in the middle, and the top should not have the blank panels in the middle I know these contain the radar but it should have been hidden.
I was the first to get the bmw 1 series 2015 facelift since then they’ve just messed up every year after it the ambient is terrible compared to Mercedes the harman kardon is poor compared to bang olfusen in Audi it feels to futuristic inside for a 1 series
I don’t like it being called 120 when it’s a 1.5L. It’s weird seeing a 3 cylinder on a BMW. The car looks good but I see different designs inspirations. I think BMW lost it’s design identity in a way.
Kidney grill looks exactly like the Skodas. BMW have lost the plot. Nice entry level bmw for the kids on the monthlies, driving around like they’ve made it big yet showing everyone they’ve signed up to debt for the rest of their life
that car is nowhere even close to a bmw in the way it drives. it drives like any other front wheel drive car, even worse if you have a powereful engine. same understeer and unstable.
That wasn't my experience. When I drove one a few weeks ago, the front end was glued to the road! Felt very similar to my F40, just a better quality ride.

I've driven both.... the FWD handles way better in real world scenarios. As much as I like the feeling of RWD, as a package the newer car is better

They do look so good in the flesh. Not too sure on the 128Ti coming back but there is a 123 xDrive on the way!

The Ceed × Focus collaboration.
Coming from a 120i F40, will the downsizing to 3 cylinders be that noticeable in terms of power ?
No it is punchy enough

Matt apart from the front a great base model. What mpg are bmw claiming?
Between 48-52mpg on the WLTP cycle.
nice 😮😮

It is a hybrid.... that's why you lose 80 litres of boot space! (only 300 instead of the standard 380). It's a 1.5 with an electric motor
