On the I phone, you cannot"create" a hot spot, it is already created for you. So, you cannot change anything on the roku because the app will not connect.

On an iphone, the name of your phone is your hotspot name. From settings, go to General, then About, then Name and rename your phone to the wifi network name your roku WAS connected to before. You can change it back after you get your roku working. Now go back to settings, then Personal Hotspot and change the password of your personal hotspot to the password of the wifi network your roku WAS using.

Just got it working using the hotspot method! Make sure to turn Maximise Compatibility on in the hotspot settings, thats how I got it to work 👍

The best method is to look at the back of the Roku device and take note of the device model, for example for me I'm looking for a Roku Express model, so it is 3930X, use that model number and find a remote online for $7-$10. when you get it, reset the remote (with a little button inside the battery compartment) , reconnect to your Roku and reprogram the network correctly. this way you WILL have a real remote from now on...
