Visually beautiful modern westerns are always welcome! Thanks to sir Kevin Costner for keeping westerns relevant and putting out new stuff for the genre
I watch a lot of old westerns from the 50s (Jimmy Stewart ones in particular) often just for the scenery. I'm expecting this one will be no different in the scenery department.
Costner has a way of making movies critics hates, but audiences grow to cult love. Postman (director), Waterworld (producer), dances w/wolves, etc. I'm excited to give them a try.
The critics predict the movie will make $12 Million opening weekend. The movie cost over $100 Million to make. I think Kevin will prove the critics wrong. Kevin said they are forgetting about his fan base. I’m betting on Kevin!
I've never seen a bad Costner film. He's had great ones, but never bad. If there's a criticism it can only be in keeping up with his massive successes. Looking forward to seeing this one to.
“Dances with wolves” dealt with the frontier; now it’s about the horizon. Must recognize Koster’s coherence as a story teller. I will be there on June 28 !
I've seen over 200 westerns in my 67yrs...despite the critics...just watched on the boxoffice big screen It's Epic..and combined with the next 3 episodes will go down in the top 10 category
Watched chapter one a month ago. This is one of the best Western films released. This will be a classic for decades to come. Another well-made recent Western is 'Old Henry', a great story with a much smaller budget. But this movie by Kevin Costner is epic with amazing cameras and beautiful wide scenes. The acting is superb, and the story keeps you hooked. You can comprehend how people lived at that time in the wild west and how America developed from different perspectives.
and to think Kevin made both of these during the whole Yellowstone debacle, well done sir, I will be going to the theater for the first time in over 10 years to see this film.
Sweeping, authentic, and powerful Chapter 1 of Costner's epic tale of our westward expansion. The characters were easy to invest in, and the 3hr runtime went by super quick!
Best thing I've seen in ages. No propaganda being pushed through the entire thing. Not even snuck in there like before they just made one big propaganda show
Saw it Saturday. Great movie. Never underestimate drone video. The cinematography, acting, and music are superb. That Apache attack on the tent settlement and cabin was the most terrifying scene I’ve seen recently.
Absolutely love a western and was lacking since the Clint days. Open Range about did a nice top-up and happy for Costner to star. Nothing else been close for decades.
I thoroughly enjoyed chapter one. Can't wait for 2. Life back during those times. Only the tough survived. Many came across those plains and did not make it whether it was tragedy, illness, or Indians. Great job Mr. Costner.
Well then, you like bad movies. The postman is objectively terrible, nowhere close to open range or Hatfields and McCoys, much less Dances with Wolves. Please don’t mention that you found “Waterworld” to be Oscar worthy, if you expect to be forgiven for The Postman 😂. Probably should “big hush” 🤫 on that one.

I loved the postman too! And Waterworld was Oscar worthy for sure. I think anyone who doesn't like those movies probably spent their childhood huffing glue 😮
The Rotten Tomatoes critics are at 42% “Likes”. The viewers were about the same before the movie premiered and now the viewers are at 72% “Likes”. You have to see the movie for yourself. There isn’t a Western I haven’t seen. This is a good Western. Can’t wait for the other episodes. If you are a casual Western viewer you won’t probably like it. If you are real Western fan you will like it.
I see this is very important for Kevin Costner to put his money, hard work, & going against the odds.. I am very grateful that he is bringing Westerns back. I am praying 🙏 this turns around for him. I watched Horizon, & thought it was a magnificent film, sadly not many went to support, & watched it. I am anxiously waiting for the second part.❤ ~You see, in this world, there's two kinds of people, my friend-those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig. ~Clint Eastwood
Listened to an interview this morning with Costner on NPR's New Yorker Radio Hour. He's invested his own money in this film and hopes it makes a boatload of money. I'm gonna do my part to help him make that happen.
This is a brilliant movie, engaging stories, beautifully shot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ watch it this morning on the big screen, absolutely worth getting up early and making the journey to see it. No spoilers, once you see the first chapter, you will definitely be making plans for chapter 2. Wow!!! Great Movie 🍿 🎥

I dont think Costner is a great actor, but just like Eastwood, he is always coming up with films, that really matter. He is reflective and a lot of his films really have depth. Greets from germany
And this was one of the ways about how gringos got into mexican territory and killed Mexican apaches, comanches, raramuris and others then mexican natives.
I am putting A LOT of trust in a trailer … but this looks like a movie where the men will act like men and the women will act like women. Can a modern movie actually feature strong males who remain strong as their character arcs? It is possible to film a story where weak females become strong as their characters arc? I am looking forward to finding out June 28th.
No, no, no. You don't want that, trust me. Hollywood would mess it up, like they always do. You want a lesbian haircut black female main character as the lead?
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who saw that, this came up as an ad on UA-cam and I FULLY thought it was a Red Dead film. Sadie in front of the burning house, Micah, Arthur looking for John in the snow, John building his home. Genuinely believed I was seeing the gang for the first half of the trailer and was pretty bummed it wasn't RDR 😅😭
haven't been inside a movie theater in probably close to a couple decades, and i live right next to one... might go check this one out though, hope they do like a double screening or something when they both are out.
Typical old guy super badass dream movie. Rich people playing tough, meanwhile between takes Kevin drinks some Ensure...Any young guy, middle-aged guy, would tear Kevin apart.
They always do the brothers dirty. He has one of the greatest actors of our time, Glynn Turman who is in the movie, and he is not in this trailer’s or the official trailer’s credit. The seemingly little things always reveal so much.
Rotten tomatoes critics don’t like this film.
So I think we can all agree that means this film is going to be epic!
...sure...
Cause it’s not woke enough for them.
@yakkattack Doubt it. 85% critics want to see "whiteness decentered" and don't like traditional gender roles.... so F them....
The last good Western that the critics panned was Tombstone. They were wrong about that one, but usually, the aggregate is correct.
Yeah, it looks awesome!
Exactly....
You can say what you want Cosner keeps making excellent westerns, this one looks to be no different. 👍🏻
Folks…the critics don’t seem to like this film. Which means it’s epic and a must see. I’m all in.
It seems to be a film about the American spirit and the greatness of our country. Critics are Liberals, they hate the US, they will hate this movie.
The critics also hated Yellowstone so I’m all in.
Yup, I'm in. Really appreciate that Costner is not making audiences wait another year more for part two.
He is making us wait for chapters 3 & 4 though
Are you going to make a donation?
Are you willing to make a donation?
Top Shout 👍
I don't mind . Can see it as the last of Great Westerns , Blue Ray binge watching Heaven . I don't mind waiting. 👍👍

Dances with Wolves, the best picture winner and massive international hit was a movie critics hated and audiences only grew to cult love?
Love Waterworld
The critics predict the movie will make $12 Million opening weekend. The movie cost over $100 Million to make. I think Kevin will prove the critics wrong. Kevin said they are forgetting about his fan base. I’m betting on Kevin!
And it made 11M...
Can't wait for Chapter 2 of Horizon an American Saga. Kevin, you are my hero. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Costner and the Wild West. What more do you want.
Kevin Costner never disappointed me!💯👊🏿
I saw the first 10 seconds, thats all i needed. This movie will be a Classic
The music is Ace just perfect.
Confirmed. Watched chapter one and it's a classic 100%.
I think it’s going to be the best western in a long time he’s made
There's probably been a good reason Costner hasn't starred in a Western movie for 20+ years.
I've never seen a bad Costner film. He's had great ones, but never bad. If there's a criticism it can only be in keeping up with his massive successes. Looking forward to seeing this one to.
Never saw The Postman, huh?
@grendel3290 Waterworld is pretty naff too...
Water world was pretty bad.Awful in fact.
“Dances with wolves” dealt with the frontier; now it’s about the horizon. Must recognize Koster’s coherence as a story teller.
I will be there on June 28 !
I see many familiar faces from yellowstone in this. Thank God. Finally another great western.
Thank God
Kevin Costner is a living legend he will never die! God bless him.

It's Epic..and combined with the next 3 episodes will go down in the top 10 category
I do hope this can reach the same heights as Costner's previous masterpiece, _Dances With Wolves_
It will DEFINITELY reach the same box office success as his previous masterpiece, Waterworld

This Movie Is Red Dead Redemption Meets The Lone Ranger
Exactly my thought when I first saw the trailer
YES!!

It's like a sequel to the movie Dance with the Wolves, the legend is back.
That’s what we need is another western movie with Kevin Costner or maybe 10 more
Love me a western, but I will be waiting until it hits streaming to watch. Will not be paying movie theater prices to watch
I hear you. Might be one to make an exception though.
