Perfect timing on learning the Sprint Method. 'Working' on going through every cupboard/closet/stack of boxes in my house AND garage to Get Rid Of Stuff I Don't Use. The stacks around here are so ridiculous it's beyond stupid how I've lived with the mess for so long! Also getting rid of several pieces of furniture and some beloved kitchen ware that Just Isn't Used. Hard deadline last week of April. For a 2nd annual charity yard sale benefiting a local cemetery trust my family is involved with, to pay for brush clearing, plot expansion, new fence materials, etc. Last year we made $3k! This year we should be able to complete the fencing, pave the new entrance, etc. The cemetery is dated from 1869 on the Klamath River. Major procrastination of OVER 30 years on my part, Finally getting down to able to have a calm and organized home!!! Meanwhile taking breaks with sewing videos, planning my first drafted shirt pattern, planning how to pad out my dress form, etc.Once the yard sale stuff is out of the spare room, I can start sewing! :)

Hello! I love watching all of you sewing UA-camrs! You are very inspirational. Ya'll are all the reason behind me going to costume college in the Academy of Arts University in San Francisco. I am currently working on my class assignments. I have to make 5 renders of models in costumes for the representation fo the 5 senses based on a poem I chose. And the other class I have to create 4 textile patterns on cloth using no sewing just ironing-on wonder-under. And I am trying to teach myself how to make some fancy geometric panels for my patterning with no sewing! I'm a bit gone cookoo from it as it is now about 1:30 am central time in Texas. And I have to turn in by Monday. And I've also been procrastinating and doing the rewarding myself method too. I'm a Leo so I am like a cat and would rather be sleeping. Lol. Great share. I know you will do well. I think the butt-bow thing needs a bit more work. Looks great though. Thanks for sharing, take care.

I really love the structure of that bodice. After trying three times to put my thoughts on the shape of it into words that actually make sense, I'm giving up and leaving it at that. It's a busy weekend and my brain is shot.
Not really working on anything right now and I've got some household projects that need finished before I start anything fun anyway. On a more entertaining note, though, I've recently come into possession of a pair of long johns from around 1910 and absolutely no one I know understands why I'm so excited about 100+ year old underpants.

I just bought a nifty little timer that's easy to set and when it goes off, it remembers the last time it was set to. I do three 20 minute sprints (which I should be doing right NOW but stopped to watch your video on how to solve your procrastination problem) for work. I work from home so there are myriad reasons to wander away from projects. The only thing I will stop for is a cat who needs in or out of my office door. I've found this to be an excellent way to get through a lot of work when I'm not particularly motivated to do it.

Yes (!!!!!) to the sprint method! It's THE thing that got me through studying for my finals. Especially if you are overwhelmed by the amount of things you have to do and don't know where to start it works wonders. Also really loved Emma. Hi! I'm Lauren. I've been sewing since fall of last year, but my focus has been quilting. Initially, I purchased a Depression Era quilt top. Instead of sending it out to be made into a quilt, I decided to teach myself hand quilting. *queue me watching lots of quilting videos and deciding I needed a sewing machine to make MORE QUILTS* The UA-cams then saw fit to send me lots of clothes sewing videos, which led me to the ever-cute and awesome Bernadette Banner and Morgan Donner. I'm just here to ogle all the turn-of-the-century goodness. Perhaps one day I will tackle a clothing project. For now, I'm about to start sandwiching my latest quilt, which I made just for me. Unfortunately, it has to get done in one session, because it has to be pinned on my living room floor, and I don't have a sewing room.

I love sprints - I’ve done them for writing workshops and they’re so effective - particularly if you build up the time across the day; so if you know you have a day to do something you can start with 15 minutes, then have the next ones be 30mins and then an hour etc. Right now I’m sewing petticoat ruffles and trying to let my subconscious do the working out on my corset - I think the next mock up should be pretty functional and then it’s just a question of final tweaks to get a really good fit - fingers crossed. Your mock up shape is gorgeous and the bow is so clever; very Crowley!

We have the same size waist right now 😋. I am so accident prone the amount of damage I've done to my hands is ridiculous. I've cut through my thumb with an axe, had metal roofing slide down the heel of my hand and constantly stabbed and sliced my fingers while cooking. I quite like the way that bodice looks I was thinking of getting that one for my own dress. And that color scheme is to die for I always love a red and black combo. Through a few years of modelling for art classes I've become very relaxed about people seeing me in my bra so there has been many a time I've opened the door to the postman or whatever in just a bra and pajama pants. Congrats on getting it done and it looks good I'm definitely going to get that pattern. Norse mythology was a good book I read it to my oldest. I'm currently reading a book on the gardens at Chatsworth and am sewing a coat for a friend's birthday present

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow in Portland, thank you for not canceling that portion of the trip. What am I reading? I acquired a huge stack of 1905-1937 needlework & dress making magazines, so I am devouring them (advertisements as well as articles) right now. Sewing - I'm planning out my wrapper for the CoCo breakfast brunch. as well as the royalty garb for granddaughter (12 yo) who is in court for the Oregon Ren Faire. Also completing RainForest costume for the Enchanted Forest Ball for the Time Traveler's Costume Guild here in Portland (March 21 if you want to join us on your way back down to home later this month). See ya!

That mockup looks amazing!! The dress is going to be fantastic when you are done!! I’m with you on the sprints though I still have to watch the distractions my sewing room is so very full of fun distractions. Just put up a white board hopefully that will help me stay on target. Of course I as usual have far too many things on the go. So of course it’s the perfect time to start purging and spring cleaning!! I’m running out of room for patterns. Oh well I know that our local symphony book sale is coming up so I take stuff there so I can justify bringing stuff home later. Big trick is to not buy back anything I donate. Best wishes to Chris and his mom.

I've been making a concerted effort this year of putting down the phone and being present in my life. Sprints have been great at inspiring me to get creative once again. Mostly I'm working on my photography but also a couple mini sewing projects, knitting socks and watercolour painting.
    Enjoy your trip. Keep healthy.

Love the sprint idea - very helpful. The fit on the bodice is fabulous - you really are a TV model! Currently working on my skirt for the ball gown - all panels are sewn together apart from back seam (have some questions about whether this is going to stretch much with both being on the bias but I guess time will tell!). Had a Bernadette squeal moment regarding pockets when I saw the Janet Arnold back seam pocket hidden in between the left back panel and the placket - sooo cool! That's next on my list. Have fun on your trip 😊🧵

Thank you for this vlog. You kept me distracted as I sat here feeling miserable both physically and emotionally. Then, motivated by you I did a quick 5 minute sprint when I had to get up to feed my cats (two ginger boys who kept me company as I watched) which turned into more. The cats were fed. I hung the load of laundry Id done earlier. A bunch of things that needed a bleach soak were put in the tub and while it was filling with some water I gave it a bit of a scrub. Things that I decided just aren't even worth trying to bleach were moved to the trashed. And now I sit. Exhausted, head pounding, sick to my stomach, but you know what? I'm smiling cause it got done, that stuff is soaking, and i lit a candle on my way back to sitting.
The last bit of sewing I did was mending three nightwear things that I kept putting off cause it just didn't seem important as they are more summer things anyway and with no machine its hand sew or no go which for embroidery I love but for seam stitching? Not so much. But finally I just sat down to get it done the other day. Now I have two projects buzzing around in my brain that I want to do but i haven't decided if I'll proceed with just yet. The one, is to make a windsock... or a dozen windsocks cause as I've been sick the only thing I could drink for awhile was carbonated stuff which came in plastic bottles. So I have all these empty seltzer bottles now and I keep thinking I could cut off the tops and bottoms, decorate them, sew up some fun tails, and attach to sticks for fun mini windsock kids toys. The other project I have in mind is to take some embroidery I did some weeks back just as something to do with no plans for it in mind, take that strip and make it into a bracelet or chocker. The issue is with the feeling unwell I don't believe I have the brainpower to do any kind of project well. I wanted to edit some writing today and only got two paragraphs in before realizing I would probably make mistakes, rather than correct the ones already there. Which is why I was emotionally miserable when I came to watch the video. But I am not not so miserable, and for that I thank you. 🌼

    Glorioski!! New here
alright, I'm only allowed ten minutes from the novel writing so i am just going to word vomit here, jumping up and down with joy to have found costube -
Current project? NaNoWriMo I'm supposed to be writing! First time ever, it's hard, really, really hard. It makes me feel dumb and alone. Worse, indulgent because there is so much not getting done with me sitting here looking at my computer. so i take my sad-bad-angry-little feelings to you folks, and you always come through, supporting each other, doing the hard stuff, making mistakes and still alive. just do it, just pick up the thing AND do it right if you can but just do it, that's how we learn stupid things.
I am soooo in love with you guys, OMG, huge crush on Cathy Hay, I totally binged Bernadette - no music playing but you spectacularly beautiful women talking in the background while I write. You, you rock, thanks to you, I am not really alone.
egads, way over time! You are amazing, thank you, thank you, thank you,

I love instructions, but I hate complicated sizing charts.
I love your philosophy on cutting patterns.
    Late O’Clock is a thing.
Yay!!! Cutting out pattern is done.
I love that you used random scrap muslin.
    Your expectations are great.
Yes, be safe, but don’t panic.
    I love your gossip!!!!!!!
I love taking naps and I’m glad you got to have hubby time.
It’s nice when people who make patterns are you shaped.
I have an hourglass figure with extra minutes.
I’m sorry you have a bandaid.
At least you didn’t bleed on your fabric.
I like it. I’ve never done audible, but I’ve read a lot about those stories.
    It looks nice.
    The butt bow is interesting.
I love that!!!!!! Barbara is awesome!!!!!
Procrastination (yes I’m singing that) Pro-cras-tin-a-tion
Sprint is good. I do that with cleaning.
I procrastinate a lot as well. If someone tells me to do something in a certain time frame, it’s not getting done. If I set the time frame, it’s done faster.
    I want to see Emma.
Yeah, probably not good filming in a bra.
    I love your videos.
Yes, Cathy did say that.... I find it ironically funny that y’all both said that.
I’m sorry you had to cancel part of your meet and greets.
    I like it on you!!!!!!!

Congrats on finishing your mock up! Lovely. I'm new around here, and I don't do much costume sewing, mainly patchwork/bag sewing. I want to try more in the garment/costume world, including making costumes from abandoned/thrift-ed dresses (which I've been working at, over on my small youtube channel upcyclingadventures). I enjoy your vlog/casual video style.
