Thanks! Your review was really helpful.., I’m 60 now and just bought my first trail bike today after riding a Trek Hybrid on and off for many years and bought the 2018 Giant Trance 2 27.5.... thanks so much for doing these vids!
Love the enthusiasm in this vid. I bought this bike 6 months before I watched this, and agree with everything. It’s not an über cool, “longer, lower, slacker” bike or a trendy manufacturer, no. But pound for pound it’s gotta be the best do it all 27.5 trail bike out there. My trails where I live in the UK are twisty, flowy types, with short punchy descents and climbs, and it’s so nimble on these, with the versatility to go do some longer XC rides and not feel wallowy or over-biked. Spec is great for the price, the Fox fork feels as good as the RS Pike I had on my previous bike, a Canyon Spectral. All I changed so far is the saddle to a Fabric Scoop and the front tyre to a Maxxis Minion DHRII 3C Max Terra. Great review, great bike.
Just ordered one through my LBS - picking it up tomorrow. It will be my first MTB ever, after a lot of road riding background. I got the 2018 on closeout in my extra-small size, and got a screaming deal. I did a ton of research and couldn't find a better value. I'm super excited. Thanks for the review!
I've had my (2018) since Sept. 2017 and have taken it everywhere from my local trails to bike parks such as Mountain Creek here in NJ and Blue Mountain in Pa. I just love this bike! Really does everything very well. Especially from a beginner perspective really will allow to grow your confidence without feeling like you need to trade it in a calendar year later.
I got to demo the Trance and Anthem tonight in Eau Claire WI. Giant Demo truck was in town. I love the Trance with 29" wheels, great bike for the money. Thanks for the great reviews Jason! Keep them coming.
Great review. Just bought this exact bike online (new/closeout) for $2300. I considered the 2019 (29'er) but your review made me stoked to ride this whip. Not to mention the $700 savings. That's like 538 IPA's.
Hi MTB yum yum... nice video review! I’ve seen a couple of your bike review and it’s really informative and gets you the feel of riding the bike while watching it :) just a quick question which one is better the trance 2 or the regular stumpjumper I’m torn between this 2 bikes for upgrade from having HT.. cheers in advance!!!
yumyum great review. i picked up my 2018 trance 2 back in sept. 17 hot out of the oven. Tell you what I couldn't agree with you more. I did a bunch of research and listened to Clint Gibbs review and for the dough you can't beat this bike. Climbs really well, feels stable in the air, rolls great...just does everything solid. This bike definitely increased my confidence. As I can tell by the smile on your face it definitely didn't disappoint!
I bought the 2017 trance 2 last year after watching your review over and over again. Glad to see you giving props to the new one. Seems that I just need to get a new stem and handlebars. Already have a 10-46 and minion dhf%r's Still raging this bike hard in western Co.
8 months riding on my 2018 Giant Trance, and love it, same one you demoed. Only thing did notice is, a bit slower on flats, roads etc. Is that the tire or needs a different gear ratio! Thanks and awesome review
I'm very close to sealing the deal on an extremely lightly used one of these, the exact model in medium but the red colorway. What do you feel is a fair price for one today? Seller was asking $2,000 but I feel I can get him down a bit. Bike literally looks like it was ridden no more than a dozen times. No upgrades and it comes with pedals he claims were about $60. Thanks in advance!
There is a lot of mixing and matching going on with these bikes (fun times). The Trance is listed by Giant as a trail bike where the Bronson I thought was planted in the enduro slot. Boy does 10 mm make a difference with all the geometry tweeks along with tires, bars etc. As you often say; it's a great time to be buying bikes. The lines are as blurred as ever it seems.
Totally agree.... there are so many great bikes available you can find exactly what you're looking for. The lines between categories are for sure blurring... so many options!
I have this bike, and I absolutely love it! great review here and I completely agree, fantastic trail bike and there's no better bike for the money. Thanks for the fantastic review, It was a big reason I bought this bike and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Hey man you are really positive and do a great job with these reviews. You may have just helped me decide on my next bike. Gonna go down to the LBS and demo one.
Great like always. Bought T2 2017 after watching your test video. One question, what do you thing about swapping fork for 160mm one (fox 36), or stay with 34 but elite version ? Just want to add little more robustness on descents and jumps.
Great reviews. I Just transitioned into trail biking and picked up a giant trance after riding hard tail xc bikes forever. A review, guide, or advice on the PPE you use would be great!
Hi Jason , thanks for the videos and your advice. Are you going to do a video on the new ibis Ripmo?im the guy who has the Pivot 429 trailin 29. I’m thinking Pivot May be updating tthe Switchblade. I want a longer travel bike but really like the ability to go from 29 to 27.5 like the trail and Switchblade provide. Does the 27.5 inspire more confidence as I continue tto learn? Im determine to be a good enough rider so I can enjoy the workout instead of dreading it. I live in N Ga and we have a lot of trails for mountain biking but I’m confused between a trail bike and a enduro. The one type bike I won’t be interested in is a dedicated down hill bike. Even though I’m in good shape , I don’t bounce as well at 60 as I did at 40. Thanks again for being so humble a presenter; as a trainer , instructor (retired police officer)I love the way you come across. You act as though you’re just an avg to above avg rider but from what I can see you rip. Thanks again, Carlos
nothing wrong with that... great bike for the money. Of the three you mentioned, the Mach 6 would be my pick... I actually almost bought that bike... It came down to the Ibis HD4 and the Mach 6....
Thanks for this review- Would love to see more reviews on the sub $3k range bikes for us commoners ;)! Any Konas (process) in the future review lineup? I've got a thing for Kona.
I ride the South African version of this bike called the Trance 2 GE. Minor differences, weighs a little more. Only change I've done is put on a much shorter stem, 800 wide bars and super chunky grips. It's my favorite bike by far, fast, nimble and not bad on climbs. I've done some enduros on it and it's a super forgiving bike as well.
Great video!!! I'm really enjoying watching your reviews!!! I am purchasing my first full suspension bike later this year when the 2019s come out. Hopefully they won't change much. I have my choices down to the Giant Trance 2, Santa Cruz 5010 or the Tallboy 27.5+. My choice will also come down to what colors they all come in too.
Hey man, nice review, i have the 2017 and change the cockpit to wider bar and shorter stem, now the biggest change is that i put the stans flow s1 wheel set with 2.6’s, believe me it change dramatically on the high speed handling. Keep up the good work man
BTW a lot of the weirdness in the rear is that high roller 2. Strangely a high roller does not work well with another high roller. There is a void in the mid shoulder that causes it to get a little to loose before it catches the outside lugs. I run a Aggressor in the rear. Carves a little better with the rear not following the front into that dead spot in the shoulder. Still run the high roller up front. Its OK but it can plow sometimes. The high roller in the front is really good about not going over the outside lug and landing you on your butt tho.
I have been researching this exact bike online and at 5'8" was considering the small frame size. So I was surprised you stated you fit the medium well. I will obviously size both of them in the shop when it is time to buy. Thanks for the review.
So I finally was able to begin my Trance 2 purchase and at 5'8" I tried the small and it ended up being...a bit small. Full extension of the dropper post and my knees hitting the bar way too easily. The shop has ordered a medium and is what I am buying. Deposit has been paid and now the wait begins. The red is so awesome looking.
Hi, I’ve been offered a new 2017 trance 2 for $1000 dollars less than the 2018. I plan on changing the stem and bar to 50mm/780mm straight away, along with the tyres, going tubeless. Would I be wise going for the 2017? Also I’m 6 foot tall, 33 inch inside leg, the large would be a good fit right? Worried changing the stem would make the reach feel a bit cramped? Thanks, keep up the good work.
MTB yumyum thanks dude, from what I can find out the 2018 and 2017 frame geometry are exactly the same, just a shorter stem and wider bars so guess it’ll work. They still recommend I ride a large at my size so hopefully the reach won’t become too short for me. Keep up the good work.
I have the 2017 Trance 1 and it came with 11-46. It's been a great bike! changed the seat and handlebars to a carbon one i had laying around. about to change the nobbynics to something wider 2.6, haven't made up my mind yet. Great review!
God bless you're fast on that trail - and still able to have a conversation. Do you use Strava? if you do what bike scored your fastest time? I keep hearing the best value bike is Canyon Spectral $2,400 with a GX build/Pike
Yeah, but the reality is who is going to support you locally? That is the big issue with direct unless you're doing all the work yourself. That being said there is no reason you can't PU a Trance 2 for 2500 bucks now...why not negotiate and ask you dealer to match the 2400 price?
I have a Pivot and a Transition and the nearest bike shop for either are over 2 hours away. Anyway, bikes are so high maintenance that eventually you have to learn to do it yourself.
Nice review. Was this recently recorded? I'm asking because I'd think it'd be colder this time of year in Utah. It's cold in the morning here in SoCal!
If you ever get the chance to demo a 2018 Canyon Spectral, I'd love to hear your impressions on it and how it compares to the Trance 2. Great videos.... keep 'em coming!
Trail Weaks best bang for buck..2018 Haro shift r3 $1500 68 degree head 75 degree seat full sus multi pivot with horse link rock shox front n rear shimano deore everything boost spacing smoothed frame welds internal cable and takes bottle inside frame where it belongs...Giant is a very nice bike though
MTB yumyum For someone looking to get started in this sport would this be the way to go or would it be worth it to up the budget for something like the Pivot 429 Race XT 1x for a do it all bike? In NorCal, Auburn area if that matters 👍🏼
I bought a used Giant Trance 4 2018 . Around 850USD . Used it in Austria as a hire bike for a ski resort. What do you think, does it worth the money for using as an entry bike for full susp. market?
Picked up a 2016 trance 27.5 dropped a lyrik @ 160, monarch bebonair rc3 @ 200x57. Works 2 degree slacker headset, wtb i35 rims, minion wt and rock Razor tires. Acend 2 dropper, stamp large pedals. Shock was a bear to setup but its now dialed Bike is a uber beast.
Great review 👍 I'm riding a Giant Anthem SX 2 2016 now and I love it! Here's a little story: I was 12 when I got that bike and it was christmas 2016, I was riding a Helkama XS3 which is a Finnish brand, the bike is an entry level hardtail. So I had been saving so long for a new bike and then I finally got it! That was one of the best days of my life. Now I'm 14 years old and have upgraded it with things like 760mm bars and 50mm stem and 1x11. The dropper post started sagging and not working like at all, but I got A BRAND NEW ONE from Giant and it is the SL version and it came with 1x and 2x remote, new cables and everything! Yeah and of course I have converted to tubeless. And I'm saving for a new trail bike 😂 Which probrably will be a Commencal Meta TR 4.2vr because of SRAM Eagle and XT brakes... Yeah I know it's a Hell of an expensive rig for a 14 year old, but that's my dream bike And I Will Get it!!
Just watched you review on trance and have a question. Would you pay an extra $1200 and get the trance advanced 2? Only difference is carbon bike and wheels?
Just depends on your budget.... I like carbon bikes but at over $4k you start to get into the price range of a lot of other really cool bikes.... loaded question, sorry it might not be the answer you're looking for. I like this bike at under $3k... I still might like it in the more expensive carbon model but your starting to get priced high enough that it might be worth looking around as well. Good luck!
@mtb yumyum how does this compare to the Trek Fuel EX 8 and Specialized Stumpjumper Alloy Comp? I’m looking for a do it all trail bike that’s agile, playful, and can handle rocky footy western Montana trails with big climbs and descents.
I am also interested in these two brands. Hopefully they show up for Outerbike this year. The catch is that the direct sales companies don't have a dealer network where you can pick up a demo from. Helps keep the bike cost down, but the trade off is that it is more difficult to check out the product before buying. Also, unless you can do your own wrenching, you will have to pay a LPS to service it.
Couldn't agree more. I ride an older Trance Advanced 1 (carbon). Mine was in the shop and they gave me the '18 Trance 2 as a loaner. I wasn't expecting much, since my bike is spec'd higher, but I was really impressed! My only complaint was that the shifter wasn't rapid fire, but I would likely swap the drivetrain for a GX Eagle anyway. Overall, I couldn't believe how well it decended! Stable, poppy, playful, a total blast! I can't imagine a better buy, or spec, for under $3000
I'm still back and forth a little between 29 and 27.5. My impression is that you think the Instinct is the perfect do-it-all trail 29er. What would you pick as the do-it-all trail 27.5?
Hard to say.... this Giant Trance wouldn't be a bad options. Something under 28 lbs with a Fox 34 up front and about 130-150mm in the rear.... I'll have to think on that a bit longer...
Thanks. Thinking Altitude, but perhaps too big for all around trail. Mojo 3, Intense Recluse, Devinci Troy, 5010 all seem in general neighborhood. I rode the Troy, really nice bike.
great review! the changes they made for 2018 were almost the ones that i applied to my 2017 trance 2 size small, got the minion dhf/dhr2 , 760mm renthal bar, 50mm stem. just missing that 11-46. Although my primary bike is the med bronson now. Now it got me thinking if i would have gotten the medium trance maybe it will give the same roomy feeling as the med bronson. im 5'6 so i could go either way.
Enjoyed the review! Any chance you can review some direct sale brands like YT or Canyon. Would love to see a Jeffsy or Spectral review. Maybe even better value than the Trance?
Hey great review and video as usual Jay. I’ve heard quite a few people say they’d just get the Reign because it climbs and pedals pretty much as good as the Trance but destroys it on the descent. I haven’t ridden either off road so don’t have an opinion on this but I weigh about 110kg (242 pounds) without gear so that influences my bike choices a bit.
Great review, props to Go-Ride for stocking a more affordable aluminum version! Too bad it doesn't come in a 29er version as well. The value is incredible, ready to go straight out the door.
My two brothers (who are big time riders) are meeting me at SLC airport and we are driving down. Would love to ride my own bike there as I am so comfortable on it now, but it is pricey to fly a bike in and I would really like to try a few different types of bikes while I'm out there. Getting really excited for this trip!! Been doing a ton of riding to get in decent shape and get the most out of it (wish it would stop raining here, ugh)
Great job on all the reviews! I have a 2018 YT Capra CF Pro Race on order that should be delivered the middle of April. I would be willing to bring it down to Draper and let you ride and review it if you’re interested.
my only gripe about the bike is the dropper post lever... but other than that.. wow, what a solid bike! did you by any chance feel like there was some rolling resistance with the tires maxxis high rollers that came on the bike with it?
How would you compare the Trance 2 vs the Reign 2 on the same type of tracks? I have a 2018 Trance 3, but looking at upgrading the 2018 Reign 2. Thanks.
Great video I dig the night start! I also agree great price for the bike, this is what my friend got last year for his first mountain bike. Great all around bike for the price.
That's i want to hear dude! How's this beauty perform ? Have Trance 2 , 2017 and just ordered Fox 36, 160mm. Do you think i'm doin' good thing and will i'm lose a lot of climbing specs, or it's better to stay with 150 ? Do i need to buy angled headset too for putting this fork? Thanks in advance for answer man.
I have a 2016 Trance SX, I just slapped a 160mm fox 36 fork on along with some other upgrades along the way, my goal was to build the ultimate all around/trail slayer bike and I'm pretty sure I did just that
Would love to see you demo a Norco Sight 27.5. The Sight A3 aluminum is also $2800. I've heard over and over that it's the best climbing bike in it's segment and that it's impressive pointed down. However, you can never be too sure of the opinion you get unless it's an independent review. Which is another reason I love watching your reviews.
Definitely agree on the value front. I have a 2017 anthem sx which is perfect for the trails round me as well as the fact I don’t get out on it too much since I’m on the road more. Obviously I’d have loved a 6k wonder machine but that would just be greedy of me, my anthem is great and does me proud :D
I've got one same color and all XL. Still going strong in 2024.
Thanks! Your review was really helpful.., I’m 60 now and just bought my first trail bike today after riding a Trek Hybrid on and off for many years and bought the 2018 Giant Trance 2 27.5.... thanks so much for doing these vids!
Nice review...... also, great to see a review of a bike that I don't have to sell my left testie for. Looking forward to your next video!
haha yep!
I have a 2022 Trance 27.5 aluminum on layaway .... can't wait to make the final payment .
Love the enthusiasm in this vid. I bought this bike 6 months before I watched this, and agree with everything. It’s not an über cool, “longer, lower, slacker” bike or a trendy manufacturer, no. Nice, thanks for sharing... I've always liked the Trance!
You are my man :-): what is your impression: Canyon Spectral versus Giant Trance? I am going to buy one of these (Spectral Version 2016)
Shorts and gloves to match the paint job: good form, that man!
haha funny, I know!
Just ordered one through my LBS - picking it up tomorrow. It will be my first MTB ever, after a lot of road riding background. Wow, that's an incredible deal... congrats!
IPAs taste like shit
Yeah, you're not losing anything by getting the 18 model. Appears the only real difference on the 19 is the graphics.
@@FlowFinderUSA But it comes in *BLACK*
I demoed one a few months ago and it didn’t disappoint. It was fun to ride! Love watching your reviews!!
Nice, thanks!
Your reviews are just awesome dude! Very informative, not biased and even while rippin trails, your voice is still clear. Keep up the good work!
haha thank you dude!
MTB yumyum sweet as! Have tried the new giant reign with the dvo suspensions? Should run mint in your test trail!
Hi MTB yum yum... nice video review!

Nice, glad you got one!
i got mine back in sept for 2575 plus a pair of 50 buck chester pedals. no reason folks can't get it under 2500 at this point.
Glove and Frame game is on point! Trance is my GO TO! Great review.
haha, Thanks Jeff... If I can't be the boss, I wanna at least look boss ;)
You are definitely Style Boss for sure!
I bought the 2017 trance 2 last year after watching your review over and over again. Glad to see you giving props to the new one. Seems that I just need to get a new stem and handlebars. Already have a 10-46 and minion dhf%r's Still raging this bike hard in western Co.

Nice man. This Video is the reason why i own the Trance 1.5 LTD now. But i have an question. You guys only wear helmets? No protectors on you back.?
yeah, most of us wear knee pads and gloves
I have this bike, and I absolutely love it! great review here and I completely agree, fantastic trail bike and there's no better bike for the money. Thanks for the fantastic review, It was a big reason I bought this bike and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Rad, thanks for sharing.. so glad you're enjoying your bike!

My buddy Tyler rides his Trance fork at 160mm
If you were on a budget, would you buy this bike or the Specialized Stumpjumper ST
the giant... giant has the lightest weight alloy bikes!
Great reviews. I Just transitioned into trail biking and picked up a giant trance after riding hard tail xc bikes forever. A review, guide, or advice on the PPE you use would be great!
Any chance you’ll be able to test the new Intense Sniper Trail? Keep the great vids coming!
Giants affordability always amazes me...nice as always!
Dude, totally right! Such a good deal!
It's incredible ... this aluminum one is $2800 and the entry level carbon fiber is $4000
Michael Glidewell man that's amazing!

im getting the 2019 trance 3 because i can't wait another month and a half to save for pivot mach 6 or bronson
nothing wrong with that... great bike for the money. Of the three you mentioned, the Mach 6 would be my pick... I actually almost bought that bike... It came down to the Ibis HD4 and the Mach 6....
Nice video.. any chance of getting your hands on a reign and reviewing that?

Great video I am picking my trance up next week love how you take it to the edge thanks
Nice, congrats!
The 2018 Trance 2 also comes with SLX brakes as opposed to Deore on last year's model
nice catch... great little upgrade too!
When did you film this video? I can't wait to get back up to Jacob's this season. Edit: I'm guessing last fall, because of all the leaves...
Great video!!! I'm really enjoying watching your reviews!!! I am purchasing my first full suspension bike later this year when the 2019s come out. Hopefully they won't change much. Rad, I'll bet that bike rips with the wheel/tire combo! I'm also running 2.6 tires on my Ibis HD4... love it!
To me the 2.6’s are the sweet point. Thanks for replying, and give us a bike check of all your bikes, that would be an awesome video
Nice review. I have about 650 miles on mine now same color and all in a large. Those bikes are bulletproof!
Rad!

twowheelslater for how much.?
The bike? I am a middle/ high school coach so I got 15 % off retail. Forgot how much that was honestly.
I love my 2006 Trance1 4.2 Maestro. I bought it on end of year discount for $1599 new back in the day
Really nice review, which size did you try? You're 5'8" I think right?
yep I mentioned at the end, I'm 5'8" on a size medium... fit was great!
I have been researching this exact bike online and at 5'8" was considering the small frame size. So I was surprised you stated you fit the medium well. I will obviously size both of them in the shop when it is time to buy. Thanks for the review.

Rad, congrats on the new bike! Getting a new cockpit should alloy you to get to the proper fit!
That's awesome, enjoy!
Chuck clyde, haha thanks dude! Yeah, I'm on strava: www.strava.com/athletes/2904628 My fastest time on this trail is on a 2018 Ibis HD4
Nice review. Was this recently recorded? I'm asking because I'd think it'd be colder this time of year in Utah. It's cold in the morning here in SoCal!
Filmed it back in October.... Still a bit of snow on the ground here for a few more weeks!
this is my bike; I love it; thanks for doing these videos.
You're welcome dude!
Love your reviews! You should review the new Ibis Ripmo next
If you ever get the chance to demo a 2018 Canyon Spectral, I'd love to hear your impressions on it and how it compares to the Trance 2. Great videos.... keep 'em coming!
Best bang for your buck if your a weekend warrior
Yeah, maybe!
What do you think, does it worth the money for using as an entry bike for full susp. market?
Yeah, I've always like the Trance!
Picked up a 2016 trance 27.5 dropped a lyrik @ 160, monarch bebonair rc3 @ 200x57. Works 2 degree slacker headset, wtb i35 rims, minion wt and rock Razor tires. Acend 2 dropper, stamp large pedals.
Shock was a bear to setup but its now dialed
Bike is a uber beast.
Yeah I know it's a Hell of an expensive rig for a 14 year old, but that's my dream bike And I Will Get it!!
haha thanks for sharing dude! Keep shredding bro!
Thx for the reply, I will!!
What did you think of the wheels/rims? Those xc-1 rims are 23mm internal diameter. Would burlier rims transform this bike do ya think?
Yeah, possible. Wider rims will likely help but for this price range these are acceptable!
Planning to buy this trance 2 frame only. Is it still worth it?or buy new frame 2020?
Awesome review. Can you review Canyon and YT bikes under the 3k price point. They seem like a lot of bike for the money. ???what is the catch???
I can't imagine a better buy, or spec, for under $3000
Nice, thanks for your input! Totally agree... it's a great value!
I rode the Troy, really nice bike.
hehe I love how you dressed to match the bike. Very slick. nice review, sweet bike.
haha funny....
Good video!! ... Can you review a Diamondback release series I will love to see that
Hello good day, may i ask you if the KTM lycan LT 272 2017 is a fun bike? I always watch your MTB reviews thanks 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Never ridden it, sorry dude!
MTB yumyum Thanks👍🏽
Is it wheelie-able?
Totally wheelie-able🤘🤙
great review! the changes they made for 2018 were almost the ones that i applied to my 2017 trance 2 size small, got the minion dhf/dhr2 , 760mm renthal bar, 50mm stem. just missing that 11-46. Although my primary bike is the med bronson now. Now it got me thinking if i would have gotten the medium trance maybe it will give the same roomy feeling as the med bronson. im 5'6 so i could go either way.
Rad, I actually said that same thing in my video review of the 2017 Trance... nice upgrades bro!
Kyle Ang I'm 5'7 with quite long arms... Is the medium a different spec? What would u recommend
I'm in the same situation as R41.
What size would you recommend for a 5'6.5" dude with short legs but long torso and arms?
Great video dude! Always look forward to your reviews
Thank you!
Thanks for the review. Hard to find a good take on a $3000 bike. Most reviews are on 5 to 8 grand bikes.
Yeah, that's what most shops have available to demo... really liked this bike!
Enjoyed the review! Any chance you can review some direct sale brands like YT or Canyon. Would love to see a Jeffsy or Spectral review. Maybe even better value than the Trance?
George Kat84 the issue with that is that he would have to buy the bikes
I'm hoping to have access to these bikes in a few weeks in Moab Utah at an event called Outerbike...
What height are you mate? Is the medium a good size for you?
Does the bike come assembled?
How about testing Zach's Rallon?
haha planning on it... waiting for the snow to melt!
looking forward.
I've not ridden the Reign but it's down hill ability is legendary!
MTB yumyum I’d love to see you review the Reign and give your thoughts on it. That’d be a huge amount of viewers watching that one.
Great review, props to Go-Ride for stocking a more affordable aluminum version! Too bad it doesn't come in a 29er version as well. The value is incredible, ready to go straight out the door.
Totally! You bringing your Hightower to Outerbike or are you demoing bikes there?
My two brothers (who are big time riders) are meeting me at SLC airport and we are driving down. Would love to ride my own bike there as I am so comfortable on it now, but it is pricey to fly a bike in and I would really like to try a few different types of bikes while I'm out there.
Getting really excited for this trip!! Been doing a ton of riding to get in decent shape and get the most out of it (wish it would stop raining here, ugh)
Ibis Ripmo is definitely on my demo list...
Best value, IMO. I picked up mine a few months ago and really enjoy it.
Congrats!
Great job on all the reviews! I have a 2018 YT Capra CF Pro Race on order that should be delivered the middle of April. I would be willing to bring it down to Draper and let you ride and review it if you’re interested.
Are you going to review the 2018 Cannondale Trigger 2 by any chance?
just bought this bike after watching your video... it indeed is a solid bike!!!
Nice, glad you like it!
my only gripe about the bike is the dropper post lever... but other than that.. wow, what a solid bike! did you by any chance feel like there was some rolling resistance with the tires maxxis high rollers that came on the bike with it?
I've had my '18 bright orange T2 for10 mos and love it. No problems at all. I got mine for $2650 after tax.
How would you compare the Trance 2 vs the Reign 2 on the same type of tracks? I have a 2018 Trance 3, but looking at upgrading the 2018 Reign 2.
Thanks.
Is this good for beginners?
Absolutely! Give it a try!
Yes! You can't get a better bike for a beginner.
Got the 2019 Trance 2 and I'm enjoying it :)
I've always loved the Trance and I've had 2 of them. A Trance X1 26er and the Trance X0 29er.
I've decided to buy a trance 2 and was wondering if you could help with sizing. I'm 6'1" with 35 inseam. About 210 pounds
Sorry, I'm not going to be much help. I'm 5'8" and ride a medium. Good luck!
I'm 6'1" 211lb on a 2017 large. 50mm stem & 785 bars. Perfect fit
Great video I dig the night start! I also agree great price for the bike, this is what my friend got last year for his first mountain bike. Great all around bike for the price.
Thanks man!
I put a 160 on my 17 trance and whoa! Talk about confidence inspiring, superstiff and just plows!
Have you looked at the 2018 Antem 27.5? I would be very interested to hear a comparison.
Not yet, but I'm going to outerbike in 2 weeks... I'll try and demo it!
Anthem made for 50/50 on xc and am trails. Geometry and shallow travel leans toward xc. Trance covers more bases than anything out there!
Yo....I just ordered the Trance Advanced 2...should I ride the Revelation fork or upgrade right away to a Pike?
I guess it depends on your money situation... the Pike is nice! Congrats on the new bike!
MTB yumyum I decided to rip the Revelation
Great review I'm getting one
What a trail!!
I wish we have something like that where i live.
I have a 2016 Trance SX, I just slapped a 160mm fox 36 fork on along with some other upgrades along the way, my goal was to build the ultimate all around/trail slayer bike and I'm pretty sure I did just that
Rad, my buddy runs a 160mm fox 36 on his Trance and loves it!
Does the bike climb well ?
Looking To Buy One 😎 Excellent Review Thanks
Where is this trail located?
Draper, Utah
Up before the dawn to thrash! You go brother!! Vipers out!!!
Yeah buddy!
What bike light are you using and how do you like it?
Would love to see you demo a Norco Sight 27.5. The Sight A3 aluminum is also $2800. I've heard over and over that it's the best climbing bike in it's segment and that it's impressive pointed down.
However, you can never be too sure of the opinion you get unless it's an independent review.
Which is another reason I love watching your reviews.
Yep, planning on riding one at outerbike in a few weeks... stoked to get out on it! Thanks dude!
Dude, that's awesome!
Looking at this and a Scott genius 750. Any opinions.
Believe it or not, I've still never ridden a Scott....
Great video! How about reviewing the 2018 Santa Cruz 5010
Great idea, not much has changed but I'll see if I can track one down!
This may well be a contender for my next bike, great review :)
Yt jeffsy 27.5 with pike, guide rs brakes, xo1x11, dt Swiss rims, ibex onza tires. E13 Dropper seat post(the only downside) for 2,400 bucks! Can't beat that one. Even this giant.
Looking hard at the 2018 trance2 versus the Trek fuel ex7 29er, any thoughts much appreciated
Personally, I'd go for the Trance!
are you going to do the new 2018 jekyll?
I'm looking into selling my Marin B-17 and picking this up, I feel like the Trance would fit my needs better.
