Bora Bora 2023

‪@Dean_Trips‬ vacations on the French Polynesian Island Bora Bora with his wife and explores the area by kayak, paddleboard, bicycle, scooter, and boat. Dean and Isabele fly to Tahiti from Los Angeles and overnight in Pepeete on Tahiti before taking a late morning flight the next day to Bora Bora. Their travel budget did not allow to indulge in the wonderful overwater bungalow accommodations, but instead at less than $250 a night including breakfast the couple stayed at the lovely Hotel Royal Bora Bora. Dean and Isabele enjoyed the private beach area and the availability to rent kayaks, stand up paddleboards as well as well-maintained single speed beach cruiser style bicycles. The Hotel Royal Bora Bora is located close to Matira Beach (12 minute walk), as well as close to other places to eat, plus a grocery store is almost next door. The Avis car/scooter rental office is also just down the street as well as Le Plage Excursions, a place to rent a small boat without a license. Being in the water and enjoying the sea life in Bora Bora is amazing. Dean mistakes the area of the blacktip reef sharks as a place allowed to take the rental boat but finds out it is off limits as the tours prefer to take customers there. The colors of the water in the lagoon in Bora Bora are amazing and even still in the "rainy" season (November to April) there was plenty of sunshine this time of year - early March. Dean and Isabele favored a guided lagoon tour with snorkeling stops to see manta rays, a coral garden, a multitude of eagle rays, and the "aquarium". The Bora Bora H20 excursion company is highly recommended and offers many great tours including the half day tour Dean and Isabele enjoyed.

Where did you eat while staying at Hotel Royal?

We ate a couple at the hotel but we preferred and ate most of our meals a short walk down the road at the Maitai resort restaurant.

Hi Dean. Great video. 1) What is the price for a half day boat rental ?
2) What is the price for a full day boat rental ?
3) What is the price for an 8 hour lagoon excursion with lunch hosted by the local ?

The price for the the half day boat rental which includes the petrol for a nom-licensed boat driver was 19,000 XPF which converted to $169 US. The full day rental was 26,000 XPF or $$230 US. We only did the half day lagoon excursion without lunch, so I can only give you that price which for 2 people together cost $222 US. The nearest grocery store is less than a 5 minute walk away- very close.
