There are several reasons why Turks have preferred to drink Ayran. First, and I think most importantly, it does not contain any additives. It just consists of water, yogurt and salt. Secondly, Turkish cuisine is usually spicy and really oily cuisine. For this reason, it is better to drink a light and refreshing beverage such as Ayran alongside heavy meals. And lastly, it is an inexpensive drink and can be easily prepared even at home^^
It’s definitely good when you give it more of a chance, but at first we found it a bit of a strange flavour! After a few tries we found it quite refreshing with meat especially!
We went to Mardin after Gaziantep! Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to go to Van or Urfa but we will definitely visit them when we come back to Turkey!
Hi there from Gaziantep! I haven't watched the entire video so I haven't seen it, but I hope you gave "Küşleme Kebaphan" a visit before leaving. That is the best restaurant to taste some of the finest cuisine of Gaziantep and maybe the best kebab in Turkey. As for katmer, I wish you had visited "Orkide".
Gaziantep is close to syria and more specifically Aleppo..syrian cuisine is spectacular and I saw a turkish food guide state that one baklava shop that was very old originated when a turk went to aleppo to learn how to make baklawa..in any event it is delish!
I have heard some similar stories as well about the history of some of the foods and where they may have originated. We actually got closer to Syria in another video, and I’m definitely hoping to find a way to visit someday!
Hey Glen!! Thanks for watching! I think we’re definitely getting closer and if we continue to travel with our stomachs we definitely will be 300lbs very soon 🤣🤣
Do you guys know how all these locations are doing after the earthquakes? Pretty sad , alot of these restaurants in thd vid may be no longer , like that 4th generation one and the cave one aswell..
We’ve been following a lot in the news about the disaster and all I’ve really seen is about the castle in Gaziantep. We’re not so sure about the other places we visited but I can only imagine the damage is quite devastating to those places as well 🙁. We just pray all the people we met are safe and sound!
@@SirKonrad you guys must be feeling devastated...i can only inmagine what it must feel like visiting a country and its oeople then this happening, yes much prayers to them all 🙏🙏🙏...
What food would you recommend us to try in your country?!
Y'all should go to Kyrgyzstan
@@drewjitzoo1101 That’s a great idea!! It looks stunning there!

@@SirKonrad Lauren, if you ever get a chance to eat eggplant kebab, you should peel the eggplant.😊
@@murattahan2391 oh really, actually I did try it but we eat the skin in the U.K so I just ate it, I guess this is not the proper way 😂
Now this is the better part of the country I think. Mardin Syrian side, I dont know I love it
We really love this region of Turkey as well and can’t wait to explore further east in the future
Baklava is not eaten with a fork, but by hand. 🤗🙏🏻

Food CAPITOL not food capıtAl, please check the video name.
As someone who teaches English I can confirm to you I won’t be changing the title haha. Thanks for watching!
Yogurt is a Turkish word. Yogurt is the gift of Turks to the world, just like baklava or kebab.afiyet bal şeker olsun.
It was a great gift and the world appreciates it! Thanks so much for watching 🙂
Now there is nothing left of it.... earthquake 😪
Just horrible news 🙁. We’re deeply saddened by all of this. Turkey and Syria are in our thoughts and prayers today🙏❤️
