What do you think about the Powkiddy V10? Do you agree with Zu that it's a pretty good gift option, or do the negatives outweigh the benefits with this one? Tell us below!
I agree with the gift idea. I purchased one of these to configure the way i want it, and will be purchasing 6-8 more for employee Christmas gifts this year along with bigger and more decent sd cards to be able to make it a little easier on them to search through all the games. I've been waiting for something this cheap and decent to be able to share my hobby with others. And as you said, hopefully rope one of them into this hobby with me😜
I think it's great even for a 2024 device. Though let's be honest, if this exact device released in 2020, it would likely have released at like $60-70 at least. I just wish it had a little volume wheel like the SF-2000's, and then it'd be the perfect little GBA device.
06:22 That's the one I also used on my older emulation handhelds. Since the RG35XX Plus I use the "sharp shimmerless" shader package in combination with the "Perfect Overlays" package. I'd suggest giving the shader a try at least, as you won't need the overlays with that resolution. GBA (and GB and GBC) look sooo crisp now!
Thanks for the review! As I'm waiting for mine, here's some GBA recommendations: 1. CIMA: The Enemy - I had a copy as a kid and I loved this game. The sound design is great. It can very frustrating and challenging near the end but overall it's a fun experience and very unique. 2. Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart - I've only beat the first part of the game (there's a lengthy endgame) but holy shit this is an incredible experience. It's Dragon Quest remixed with Oregon Trail. As absurd and not fun as that sounds this game is a blast once you get a few caravans and find the right characters. Chefs make the game so easy. But yeah, fun game! 3. It's Mr. Pants - Puzzle game by Rare featuring their mascot (not kidding). I hear the voice clips from this in my sleep but I still love this charming little puzzle game. (MY BRAIN HURTS) 4. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team - There is a companion game for the DS which is basically the same game, but I've always preferred the GBA version. The DS doesn't add anything to this game. It's so fun on the GBA though and it helps now that you can generate Mystery codes online so it's not a chore to complete the game if you get the desire to do so. 5. Polarium - For me this is the ultimate pick up chill puzzle game. It also holds the title of the only GBA game that can get DLC from a DS game. If you have the European version of Magnetica for the DS, a fat DS, and a copy of Polarium, you can download DLC levels via a menu in Magnetica.
I got an Anbernic RG351P used only for 40$. Put ArkOs on it and it's a dream device for GBA. I only play that console on it and it became my daily driver. I love it has more buttons, for Shmups and Beat em Ups I like to use the joystick and the battery (on 50% brightness and 40% volume) last for 8-9 hours wich is INSANE! Also... GBA games are special. Metroid Fusion, Castlevania Aria oo Sorrow, Street Fighter Alpha, WarioLand, Golden Sun and many, many puzzle games. It's old but for GBA it's the ONE to get!
How would you compare the V10 against Anbernic's RG28XX in terms of pocketability and traveling? I got a 28XX a couple months ago and I've been in love with it ever since, due to the insane portability and small form factor it has.
The RG28XX is good, but it is *tiny*. If you're looking to play for a while at a time, that smaller screen and overall handheld size can start to be an issue.
I think maybe I'm being stupid, but wanted to ask: do I still say this screen is twice the size of gba if it's twice as wide and twice as tall? Because that's four times the size. (Lovely video!)
There is a micro SD card inside, it comes with thousands of games already installed tho. But if you wanted to add your own you download them on the internet plug your micro SD into your computer and upload them to the card.

You had me at Dragon Quest, and then you set the hook with Oregon Trail!

Appreciate the promo code, boss. U the goat
My starter device was a Dingoo A320, and I do have it sitting around somewhere. I saw it a couple of months ago!
I'm glad we're getting more 3:2 options 🙂
Yeah a Handheld that's perfect for playing Sonic Genesis for GBA! 🙃
If the 35xxSP was cheaper I would be ordering a pile of them for Christmas... But this... This might be the ticket

Today's video has been brought to you by the words 40 and dollars. 😀
Damn, you'd already be super lucky to be an Official Friend of Zu, but to have him gift you a gadget too?! Icing on the cake.
it is a gem
Wow at 42 its even cheaper than Ali. I'll bite!
You did a good video Mr Zu
Thank you @BuggyBum26
This Handheld will be great for REDO, Crowtel Renovations, and Treasure Hunter Man 2. (These are ports I'm working on BTW) 😁
Love the designg but im spoiled with the RGB30 AND 20SX 720p screen.
Dude it's ridiculous how I only play my RGB30 now. I bought it out of CURIOSITY to see GB but ended up playing everything on it
Got it for $35, real solid GBA emulator!

Thanks! Do you mean the resolution or form factor 🤔
@@retrohandhelds The screen resolution.
Aw, so cute 😍
Perfect GBA device! At least until something similar comes out with wifi, rumble, and a gyroscope.
Nah, something this small and sleek with such nice features will never come out again. This thing is beautiful.
Funny as f#@$ young lad. I laughed and laughed. I'm giving one to my nephew and brother-in-law just for shits and giggles at Christmas.
Are all those game pre installed? Or do I have install them somewhere
It ships with games. Some 1st party Nintendo stuff is missing like I said in the video.
I'm so glad I think achievements are dumb. Saves me so much hassle.
I like mineee :)
Pooooooooowkiddy❤❤
You probably meant SSH when you said SHS? (though the file protocol that you mention is called SFTP, SSH is just the shell part)
Please excuse my transient dyslexia.
cant stand the bezels on this thing. if it wasnt for that, i would probably cop.
I hardly notice them tbh :/ but I get it.
A question from a noob 🥹:
How do I actually get games on a Powkiddy V10..? It can't take my old GBA cartridges 🤔
