    Saw this video and my son has a boxster.I am an old Chevy guy but this video gave me the confidence I needed to knock this job out.Sooo easy for me.I have more difficulty with some American cars. Thank you.

      Ron Cota Glad it was of help, I know how you feel, I'm old school myself, give me a carb, dizzy and set of points any day :)
      The boxster has turned out to be very strait forward to work on, so don't be put off because it's a Porsche!

    Thank you very much for making and sharing this video. It helped me tremendously. I just want to point out that on my 1997 NorthAmerican model there is one vacuum line on each side that run into the rubber bellows. On line has what I assume is a check valve in it, the other line is very thin, comes up besides the hydraulic fluid reservoir and goes into the bellow. The fellow in your video seemed to easily attach it using the long nose pliers...mine was a PITA to find and locate the hole after the TB was installed. The vacuum line is so short that it will only reach when the TB is properly seated. Speaking of seating the TB, it took a fair amount of pushing and prodding to get it seated correctly. A second pair of hands would have help tremendously (as in your video). I've worked on quite a few cars in my day, and the boxster gets the prize for making what should be a easy, straight forward job complicated.

    I belong to a BMW forum and one of the guys on there had similar symptoms, was traced
    To the fact that some of the k & n filters have something in them which mess up the air mass glow meter. Upon checking with k & n the guy had ordered the wrong air filter. Not sure what or why it buffered up the maf but changing the filter out and the maf sorted the problem

    with the kn filter the cleaning oil can effect sensors on the boxster if over oiled as most do

      +Stephen Fullerton, Hi Steve, I have heard this with the mass air flow sensor, but that's new as well. if it doesn't right it's self after the engine service in February I'm going to chuck it into Porsche for a diagnostics check, I'm convinced it's running too rich at low revs but I'm old school and it hasn't got a carb or any idle jets to clean, lol

    Hi Paul. Any chance you can improve the sound quality on your excellent Porsceh Boxster u-tubes

    • @Paul1962
      @Paul1962  7 років тому

      Hi Graham, that is quiet an old video, but yes I'm always trying to improve them and sound has always been one of the pain in the ass's, lol tried loads of different mic's and of cause different cameras have different sound quality, as well as the problem of wind, but I will always continue to try and make the sound better

    There are 2 vacuum plastic tubes that connect to the rubber boots, One to each boot, you never mention to be careful when removing the boots that these vacuum tubes are to be disconnected, they are so small and blend in with the black color of the rubber boots and can easily break. you do mention the one from bank 2 when reassembling the Throttle body but it is much too late if the tubes are broken during removal.

      Thanks, I will take that as a compliment....... I think, lol. considering I come from the days when we didn't wear latex gloves! I do have some battle scars on the back, but they only really notice in the cold of winter, so I'm just lucky I guess. don't do half ass much as I did in the old days, spend mort time in front or behind the camera now.

      Those are lady hands, and they have no business being near a car.

    My boxster also got oil in there too. Why? Where does it come from?

    • @Paul1962
      @Paul1962  8 років тому +1

      hi, it can come from the air oil separater, but it is common for a small amount of oil to get by the separater, the most common way to spot excess oil is smoke from the exhaust, I changed my separater, but because it was leaking oil not letting oil passed, hope this helps

    Paul, I love your DIY spirit and that fact you take the time to post projects we all need to do but from the production quality side, your filming is shaky and your difficult to heard at times and bought to understand. Suggest you incorporate tools selection information and a better camera.

      +olivia subik hi, sorry for the late reply, I missed this post some how, I am constantly trying to improve my camera skills, which is not as easy as one mite think, lol. I have already add some new cameras since your post. I like the idea of including a tool selection and will try and remember it for my next video :)

    • @Paul1962
      @Paul1962  9 років тому

      pmenown it in proved it, but didn't get rid of it completely, so I changed the throttle position and mass air flow censors to fully solve the problem.

    I wouldn't let you clowns touch my car. I've never seen such rough handling for the most remedial efforts. Screwdrivers jamming, poking, and prodding. It's a Porsche for Christ's sake, not your wife.

    • @Paul1962
      @Paul1962  7 років тому

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts Jim, your comment is noted, yes it is a Porsche, but at the end of the day it is just another car for Christ's sake

      Have you ever actually worked on a car? With all due respect, some times poking and prodding is the only way to get things loose. Good example, rubber hoses. They tend to fuse to the metal and plastic bits they seat on. Personally, I've been working on cars and motorcycles since childhood, more than 40 years at this point. And to be frank, most of the time, things don't simply come apart without some persuasion. While I too sometimes cringe at the way Paul and his friends do things, I also recognize that they are largely working without the proper tools for the task at hand. As will virtually every person without the budget of a proper shop.
