Even the tools you throw out, could be very needed by others! One is only as good as their tools & in this day & age, a lot of folks don't know how to fix themselves, much less their car nor house! I pride myself in tools & hate to not have a tool when needed!!! In watching two of your garage sale tool finds, there was many things that caught my eye! Good video as always!
G'day from Australia Mr Pete222.. Thank you kindly for taking the time to make these videos -I watch and use them frequently. I am an amateur machinist and have learned a great deal from your channel. Cheers -Brad Innes.
You have a lot of great things from all 3 videos. Wish I was close to you. Some of the things that you don't want I could use. You will figure it out. You're having fun and that is what is good, and your saving some good tools from the scrap yard. And teaching some of us what some of the tools are. That's good. Keep it up. Would love to talk to you if I was close. You remind me of my old machine shop teacher. I learned a lot from him. I restore hit miss engines and use a lot of tap and dies because of the old bolts and nuts. Keep the videos coming. Love them.
I know this is an older video but I enjoy these very much. I too buy tools at estate and auction sales that I don’t need. The pawing through is worth the cost of admission. Thanks Mr Pete.
22:28 That is a greenlee punch for making holes in electrical panels. You start with a hole to fit the 1/2 inch, then go up to the size you need to make …. 3/4 1 1-1/4, 1-1/2 etc This stuff definitely came from an electrician. I also live in Illinois just behind Ohare airport. where are you near???
Hello from the UK, yep I too enjoy picking old tools up for pennies I restore them and use, the ones I don't restore go to my son, no point in doing his up as he tends to leave them outside to rust even more lol
I am a machining and tool auction addict, so I always feel comaradary when you show these videos. I just love always having what I need on hand, or what I "might" need some day. It is also a fun and cheap way to build up a pretty nice inventory of tools and supplies. Of course the most fun part is going through the box lots after you get home to see what hidden treasures you got. Just saying, I can completely relate. Keep up the great videos! There are some other very good machinist youtube video makers out there, but I have to say, you are my favorite.
AX, buck saws, chain saws---When allen wrenches wear out, cut the worn tips off with wheel cutter, and start all over again, Tubalcain. Good deals, indeed!!
Mr Pete we are definitely members of the same tribe. I'm still lafffing not at you but at me for being so much like you ! Thanks Love it . You Made my Saturday.
With amusement I`ve watched the three videos; I knew you could not stay away from a good estate tool sale! Been awhile since I`ve checked in, I`m glad to see you are still at it! I`ve done the same thing at countless sales over the years and for me it was always the thrill of the "hunt" never knowing what I`d find. But, I`am preaching to the choir. First video I spotted that orange scroll saw as you walked by without grabbing. Can`t believe no one else did either! LOL Well sir, I`ve had a blast watching your videos and hope you continue to make more. Thank you so much! Think I`ll watch them again.
Back to the sale! I think you got some great stuff. Not often do you run up on deals like that. Be crazy not to buy.👍. My Son always gets the collie barking when the camera comes on.
That Paslode nail gun looks a lot like one I used to use for office partitioning. Shoots hardened nails into concrete. The gass cells would deteriorate and need replacing usually before they were empty.
Mr. Pete I have a whole set of the Dunlap bench tools my wife's uncle had. I love my little bench top drill press. It is so quiet compared to my delta. Sweet buys.
Greenlee Hole punch for sheet metal I did not know they were available singularly. I have two different size ones in sets from greenly that I bought in a hock shop years ago and they are really nice to have, I have used these often
Glad you went back to help those folks clean up. The past 2 weeks I have drove into the country for garage sales listing lots of tools. Nothing but a wasted trip. Basically they are liying. Personally I think your scroll saw is good for its age. Get some Olson scroll saw blades that will fit it and see how smooth and straight it cuts. Ladies really take to using them and set up little work areas. Young kids too. All of those old Illinois houses with the old wood porches and filigree trim that is broke or missing pieces are a source of a little work.
I absolutely love watching the tool scores! Seems most folks around my area are way too proud of their old junk or, assume just because something is old and rusty that its, "vintage" and worth a small fortune! (Or a large one even) man that drill press looks very serviceable to me, for me. I would've been happy as a lark to find such a thing.
Another score! When you have your meet and greet/ garage sale, be ready for the masses to arrive. Photo ops and more. You’ll need to rent out the Armory or Legion Hall! I’d come up from s Fla. just to be a part of it.
Your new drill press just won a "NO BELT" prize... lol Right about the regrets after the fact just looking at the new messed up free space, same here... ;)
Hi Pierre. Yes, the garage is a big mess again. I have to stop going to sales. Although I just went to another one, that video coming up in a few weeks. Too much plunder
Great haul!! Love all that stuff . Was just telling someone that we just don't have much of it left ... I guess hurricanes and flooding. Everything just get thrown away 😒 but I'm gonna be moving up Noth soon and I have managed to hold on to a lot of things I inherited
Porter Cable made a fuel cell powered nail gun similar to that Paslode. The fuel cell in the gun would leak over time. Every time I went to use it the damn thing it was empty. Fuel cells were expensive, I think they were butane. Sold mine at a garage sale, I think some manufacturers took these of the market, no wonder.
That's a Hegner saw. No doubt about it .The Mercedes Benz of scroll saws. A wee bit of adjusting and it will run more quietly and smoother . Sold a used one recently for £180 ( new they are megabucks in the uk). Sought after and much valued by the wood craft folk.....( ''WOOD'' that stuff we used before metal)
well you added (I think) the complete sets of plebian modern number letter stamps to your collection, but then you discarded the mismatched set, which If I was quick enuf to note had letters with serifs on them, which are older/scarcer/and just not made any more (unless you make yer own....har har) If yer discarding them, send them my way. SVP. My old tool /motorcycle/antique collectors always want to borrow mine. Love your videos!.....Eric in Calgary
Another great find. I need to start hitting the garage sales. No telling what I would find that I needed or didn’t need but would find the way to my house.
Indeed, I do enjoy these types of videos, Mr.Pete. We used to use those Armstrong clamps in the tool & die shop for hoisting the dies up onto the workbenches. (Hope OSHA wasn't listening to that.) They were the only clamps we trusted to do that very dangerous thing. I have that same drill press but mine has Companion cast into the belt guard. It was my Dad's from 1937 and still works as good today, as it did back then. mine only has the single rod, quill handle that can be slid to one end to increase leverage. The scroll saw is definitely, a Hegner with a factory stand- big bucks. Scroll sawing had a resurgence of popularity in the early 80's and Hegner seemed to be the saw that everyone was clamoring for. That, and the RBI brand.
Your scrollsaw is a german made Hegner Multicut1! Definately! And hell yes, its definately worth your 5 bucks! It even has the pull down arm assembly, which is optional. You can still buy parts from Hegner for it.
Love the Pexto shears, reminds me of our Pexto Stow and Wilcox Shear at the shop I took the blades off to have them ground so we can shear thin gauge Stainless and Aluminum for Aeronautic industries
I would have so much fun in a place like that! I have a little craft shop, woodshop where I need a drill press and a table saw. I could only wish to follow up on such Treasures! Many blessings to you Mr Pete.
well I have watched a bunch of your videos and shared your exiuberance and loved it.... but in video 2 you had a whole series of letter/number stamps in wooden , which you valued/- but there was a plastic tub of other letter stamps which you dismissed as junk, but from what I could see in that quick dismissal, they had serifs on the letter, while the boxes were plain jane straight letter stamps. Those in the [;astic jar are much older, and scarcer-not to many folks pay attention to the "font' of the letters, but let me tell you I can buy plain-jane letter stamps at any discount store, but try to find the stamps with the serifs, well that's another story- to me, the ones you dismissed as junk were the best of the bunch, but that's just me Eric-whom keeps tuning in!
Prof Peterson , when my daughter goes junkin and i tag along somehow stuff just follows me home! And for some strange reason I seem to enjoy it as do You!! Jordan and Henry will always look at your treasures and a big smile will appear on their faces as they remember you chasing the auctions / yard sales looking for that pot of gold! Hehehehehe
I also go to auctions and yard sales and buy things I don't need. I currently have 13 industrial sewing machines I purchased at an auction. I got them for such a great price that I couldn't pass them up. The problem is, I now have 13 industrial sewing machines! Chuck. ...
Had a great time watching. Look forward to early Saturday morning releases! That air chuck on the oxygen regulator is a bit troubling. Some people use oxygen in place of an air compressor, at their own peril.
Mowing is an illness that strikes when you least expect it.It's not fatal, but there is no known cure except snow.Nice video, the mowing sounds strain my dentures because I begin to grimace
The regulator could have been used on a nitrogen bottle to run air tools. Folks who raced sometimes used that at the track instead of portable air compressors
Mr. Pete, if you ever decide to truly scrap the fire extinguisher, please let me know first. I believe that I need one of those for a WWII jeep I am slowly restoring. Thanks for all the videos. I've learned a lot over the last two or three years.
I'm 52 years old, and had to stop working at age 50!do to my health. I worked on machines for 30 years. Now I love seeing work that you do in your shop, this help me keep going on the day i can't get out of the house. I have a small machine shop. So thank you so much for all you do, it helps me more ways than one. Do keep up the good work and may God bless you and yours.
Some pretty awesome stuff, those tubing benders are top drawer.I'm pretty sure it would take a man to swing that short handled 8lb. hammer. I wish I were closer to you I'd be interested in some of that.
You can just send those Greenlee paperweights right here :-) I paid entirely too much money for a new set of them when I was setting up the VFD for my lathe. I think those and the riv-nut setter cost more than the VFD did, and it's a Hitachi.
I was kind of hoping that you would buy that Colchester/Clausing lathe. It would have been interesting to see what you could do with that British lathe. Greetings from Scandinavia
Well you mentioned Paul bunyan and low and behold he came walking in.. I see you got an extra chipping hammer. I need to dig around in my tool shop and see if i can find something you would be willing to make a trade for. Thank you for sharing the items you got at the sale. I'm sure i'm not the only person that enjoyed seeing what you got at the sale and looking forward to when you do it again soon. hahaha, Take care and have a nice weekend.
Mr. Pete, never boring always entertaining and funny. What is going to be like 'picking the bones'(as Keith Fenner would say) of Tubalcain? That is a day I hope I will never see!!! Kindest regards. Joe.
Mr Pete I knew that dead blow hammer was going to self destruct I returned two of them to snap on truck now they have a new and improved model we'll see how long it lasts great score
mrpete222 No problem. That is actually the hegner stand. I couldn't figure out how to get the switch apart, so i basically pulled the knob straight out. It wasnt ideal, but I was able to spray contact cleaner inside and put it back in, and it worked after that.
You have a sickness! Lol I don’t know why, but I enjoy these! I love your fair weather foundry videos! My wife even likes them! Do you ever re sell anything? I could use some of those number and letter stamps!
It is possible you may not have the sales and auction deals in the future. I sense a migration coming soon. The cost of garage living is very low in your neck of the woods! Thanks for sharing
Lyle I had a complete set of those hammers everyone did that. On the ballpene hammers the shots locked in the face unscrew. I made new aluminum knurled handles with set screws to lock them tight . Very easy really , grind the thin flat strip on the shaft off . Drill your handle to clear the shaft on the hammer . I actually like me handles better then the plastic crap. My big dead blow snap ons the shot went all over so there went $60. Each for three of those. Good score on many of the tools tho. Wouldn't want to send one of those chain wrench chains to me would YA. Think it'll work on my old plumbers vise with the crank down chain. Got to love the extra sound effects to me I just think its so cool your making great videos no matter what. Your a favorite on my watching program.
I'm pretty sure the white stuff is the plasticizer leaching out so the remaining resin gets brittle--as Mr. Pete discovered. Terminal disease unfortunately.
I got the scroll saw for $5 and the table saw for $10 idk if I got ripped off or not... man I’d love to go to sales in your neck of the woods. Here in CA prices that cheap are few and far between
mr pete; great buy, I live in ma..to bad I would love to go along with you, we don't sales like this in boston area, maybe worth plane fare, just to learn ropes !!! carl
The scroll saw was a steal at $5 ! Edit: Fun stuff... NEVER prices like that in Memphis... I wish ! Probably a good thing... I have a shop full (and I'm a good bit older than you) !
Dear Sir, fantastic video as always. Wow you sure pick up some great bargains, very envious as here in Australia all such items would be soooooo much more expensive
Paslode is a good brand. This unit looks like it will shoot nails. The mag seems to be to narrow for staples. Funny that one of the chisels was bent. There is nothing, what a hammer and chisel mechanic can not destroy...even a chisel, lol
Now that’s what I would like to see happen, since Stanley made those for their line and for Snap On Tools, oh and by the way Mr Pete Snap On does warranty replacement on those hammers with their name on it, i got mine replaced with the new models with completely different material for the handle. I called and they gave me a claim number and had me send them back to them. I received my replacement hammers within two weeks. They will last for my life time plus the next owner.
If you want to return some of those rusty tools to look like brand new get some Evaporust. It is non toxic and will take off rust like crazy. look for other UA-camrs that use it and see some of the tool restorations done using it to clean rust off vintage tools.
Well, I guess it's a crap shoot at a garage sale. You never know until the tool hits the work, if you got your money's worth, no matter how much you know. But so long as you had fun (and I had fun watching), it was well worth the price of admission! Question; towards the tail of the video, you came up with a few tired old countersinks. Does the Lyle grinder have the range of adjustment to re-edge those? "Inquiring minds want to know". PS: I'd love to see a video of your Moline 445 in action! Take us for a ride!
Lyle if it makes you happy do it! If anybody else is unhappy that's there problem. Love the videos and keep doing what your doing!!!!thanks for sharing
Oh man, I've been looking for a nice old drill press. You just don't see stuff like that for sale for such a low price here. I like solid old machinery, I think that could clean up pretty well. Do you see any Record tools out there Lyle? I collect all the Record C clamps that I can find, they show up all the time in the UK.
Even the tools you throw out, could be very needed by others! One is only as good as their tools & in this day & age, a lot of folks don't know how to fix themselves, much less their car nor house! Yes, having fun is what I do

That's the hegner scroll saw....world class.....parts are available stand is not homemade......great score I love mine
Possibly a Multimax 14E single speed. Would probably sell for at least 150GBP. The stands can sell for 50GBP
I guess I lucked out on that one
Definitely 100% Hegner great score!
The current model of that saw is a little different not much retails for near $1100 used in the states anywhere from $100 to $400
Back to the sale! I think you got some great stuff. Not often do you run up on deals like that. Be crazy not to buy.👍. My Son always gets the collie barking when the camera comes on.
The sale was a great rarity
Man you scored on this load I think more than the other. The scroll saw does look like a Hegner, nice! Your neighbor and mine must talk to each other!
Thanks
That Paslode nail gun looks a lot like one I used to use for office partitioning. Shoots hardened nails into concrete. The gass cells would deteriorate and need replacing usually before they were empty.
Thanks
Mr. Pete I have a whole set of the Dunlap bench tools my wife's uncle had. I love my little bench top drill press. It is so quiet compared to my delta. Sweet buys.
Yes
You're living the dream , mrpete , neighbor's and all .
Yes I am, and I am very thankful
Greenlee Hole punch for sheet metal I did not know they were available singularly. I have two different size ones in sets from greenly that I bought in a hock shop years ago and they are really nice to have, I have used these often
Glad you went back to help those folks clean up. The past 2 weeks I have drove into the country for garage sales listing lots of tools. Nothing but a wasted trip. Basically they are liying. Yes, lots of the garage sale advertisements are lies
I would have loved to pick up that cross cut saw. I clean old saws up and sharpen them when I can.
Yes

Thank you
God has been good to you at the garage sale again. here in Nebraska garage sale tools cost more than what you are paying. A lot more
Merry Christmas
Your new drill press just won a "NO BELT" prize... lol
Right about the regrets after the fact just looking at the new messed up free space, same here... ;)
Hi Pierre. Yes, the garage is a big mess again. I have to stop going to sales. Although I just went to another one, that video coming up in a few weeks. Too much plunder

What a fantastic haul - $30 clamps for $1 - excellent - I love these - there is nothing better than great scores at garage sales.

always love to see your finds Mr. pete and that plumb chisel hammer id be a proud buyer of for 5 times your money plus shipping!

Had a great time watching. Look forward to early Saturday morning releases! That air chuck on the oxygen regulator is a bit troubling. Some people use oxygen in place of an air compressor, at their own peril.
Sounds dangerous to me
DO NOT USE OIL to lubricate the pneumatic tool IT WILL EXPLODE IN YOUR HAND
pipefitters and welders use those chain pliers constantly, would be screwed without them. good score!

Love these videos, I wished we had tool sales like this where I'm from. Keep it up!

That’s a Hegner and the similar model selling today sells for $1100 and it’s a hegner stand also I have the same one at home great saw
Thanks
That is definitely a Hagner scroll saw. I have 2 of them. My wife uses them for scroll work. The stand was a option I have one of them also.
Thanks
Mr. Pete, if you ever decide to truly scrap the fire extinguisher, please let me know first. I believe that I need one of those for a WWII jeep I am slowly restoring. Thanks for all the videos. I've learned a lot over the last two or three years.

I wish I had good sales like that in my area. Good to hear you donate the tools you don't use! Keep them coming!
Garage sale such as this are a rarity
Well you mentioned Paul bunyan and low and behold he came walking in.. I see you got an extra chipping hammer. I need to dig around in my tool shop and see if i can find something you would be willing to make a trade for.
Thank you for sharing the items you got at the sale. I'm sure i'm not the only person that enjoyed seeing what you got at the sale and looking forward to when you do it again soon. hahaha,
Take care and have a nice weekend.
Jordan is getting big
Yes we like it!! I saw that drill press in last weeks videos, and was wishing the sale was closer to me. Another very entertaining video.
The base on the drill press was cracked and welded. It was so dirty I did not see that at the garage sale
Love your videos. I'm learning alot about tools watching them. Thank you.
Thanks
Mr. Pete, never boring always entertaining and funny. What is going to be like 'picking the bones'(as Keith Fenner would say) of Tubalcain? That is a day I hope I will never see!!! Kindest regards. Joe.
lol
Great picking. Nothing good around here lately . Good video.
I know what you mean. Around here, everything is "vintage" or "Antique" and (over) priced accordingly.
Mr Pete I knew that dead blow hammer was going to self destruct I returned two of them to snap on truck now they have a new and improved model we'll see how long it lasts great score
That one broke when I shut it down too hard. That's about the fourth one that I've had that failed
I really need to get out and try to hit some yard sales.
🤙
Ahhh Lyle, I have learnt so much from your many videos over the years so you feel free to ramble as much as you want.
🤙
That is a hegner. I had the same problem with the switch. I took it apart and cleaned it up and it worked fine. I sold mine on Craigslist for $800.
Good idea, I will take the switch apart. Thank you
mrpete222 No problem.
All very true, and I'm glad I have that sickness
It is possible you may not have the sales and auction deals in the future. I sense a migration coming soon. The cost of garage living is very low in your neck of the woods! Thanks for sharing
🤙
That definitely is a Hegner I just sold one just like it.Great buy
Yes
Thank you for watching
i cant pass up good cheap tools either, lol. acetone may help with that dead blow hammer, the 5 dollar drill press was a steal
Thanks
I'm pretty sure the white stuff is the plasticizer leaching out so the remaining resin gets brittle--as Mr. Pete discovered. Terminal disease unfortunately.
Nothing better than a tool garage sale!
Yes
Very good information about. Everything keeps. Teaching. I luring. Thanks
I got the scroll saw for $5 and the table saw for $10 idk if I got ripped off or not... man I’d love to go to sales in your neck of the woods. Here in CA prices that cheap are few and far between
mr pete; great buy, I live in ma..to bad I would love to go along with you, we don't sales like this in boston area, maybe worth plane fare, just to learn ropes !!! carl
lol
The scroll saw was a steal at $5 ! Edit: Fun stuff... NEVER prices like that in Memphis... I wish ! Probably a good thing... I have a shop full (and I'm a good bit older than you) !
Thanks
Dear Sir, fantastic video as always. Wow you sure pick up some great bargains, very envious as here in Australia all such items would be soooooo much more expensive
Thank you, that was a good day
Paslode is a good brand. This unit looks like it will shoot nails. The mag seems to be to narrow for staples. Funny that one of the chisels was bent. There is nothing, what a hammer and chisel mechanic can not destroy...even a chisel, lol
Thanks
There must be a town called "Final" out there in IL. Because Mr. Pete keeps going to Final garage sales and auctions.
Reminds me of a city in Japan called USA
You might cast an aluminum handle over the dead blow core? Would indeed cure the deterioration problem.
Yes. A great project for Mr Peter.
Good idea
Looking forward to that one!
If you want to return some of those rusty tools to look like brand new get some Evaporust. It is non toxic and will take off rust like crazy. look for other UA-camrs that use it and see some of the tool restorations done using it to clean rust off vintage tools.
I have use that product in many of my videos
Great stuff mrpete !!! Makes me want to go to some sales lol Thanks again two thumbs up Sir !!!!
Thanks
Great video... living vicariously through your fun!!!
lol
Don't feel bad. I bought a new beautiful black and gold Snap On set of dead blows. In three years the plastic disintegrated on all of them.
Thank you for watching. No, the drill grinder cannot be used on counter sinks.
I do show the tractor and one of my older videos. But I don't remember which one
Might of had the fitting on the regulator to run an air tool in the field.
Yes
the scroll saw sure looks like my Hegner. Sounds like it too!
🤙
Lyle if it makes you happy do it! If anybody else is unhappy that's there problem. Love the videos and keep doing what your doing!!!!thanks for sharing
Thanks
Oh man, I've been looking for a nice old drill press. You just don't see stuff like that for sale for such a low price here. I like solid old machinery, I think that could clean up pretty well.
Do you see any Record tools out there Lyle? I collect all the Record C clamps that I can find, they show up all the time in the UK.
I never see any record tools around here
