Someday, I'll find myself a T480 and just go crazy with any and all upgrades.
Love my inexpensive T480, excellent laptop to upgrade. I have done the following.
1. RAM upgraded to 32GB (2*16).
2. Installed 256GB M.2 Sata SSD in WWAN slot and using as boot drive. Speeds are almost identical to main connector.
3. Installed 2TB M.2 SSD in "main" bay and using for storage.
4. Backlit keyboard
5. Picked up additional removable battery for on the go
Future upgrades
1. Renew thermal paste
2. Wifi 6 card

I have a t480 and want to do some upgrades. I would love to learn how you got a backlit keyboard on it. That is one that I really want to do. I do want to upgrade the RAM and install a larger SSD (thinking 1TB max 2TB). But #1 will be a backlit keyboard if I can figure out how to do it.
@@phillysfinest267 backlight keyboard is available in online. You can order through online shopping. You can upgrade the SSD upto 2 TB.
I want to upgrade ssd in WWAN slot, but im afraid to buy the right one. Can you tell me your ssd type pls?
people said and have success on upgrading it up to 64 gig of ram because during the release of that model 32 gig sticks of ram did not exist on the market yet.
You can upgrade to 64gb with 2x32gb 3200mhz but it reduced to 2400mhz coz this processor only support 2400mhz
That 2x32GB ram is more expensive than the Thinkpad t480 itself (in Bangkok)
I have a T480s. Maxed out the RAM. All done. Great. T480… much more interesting.

Yes it fits a T480 laptop... usage depends on how you put the load on that memory. NVMe drives can typically deliver sustained read-write speeds of 2.6 GB/s. If you are using editing or coding softwares you can go for it. Do not use it if you are using it for surfing or watching videos.

1. ✅ RAM Kingston Fury 2 x 16 GB DDR4 3200 - OK.
2. ❌Transcend 400S TS256GMTE400S 256ГБ, M.2 2242, PCIe 3.0 x4, NVMe, M.2 => NOK📛 (in secondary slot, not into the main one), my device can not even be powered on with it. Because such type of key (M) is not supported, only B (connector of SSD should have 2 cuts, not 1).

puede utilizar hasta 512 GB NVMe M.2 SSD. También puedes utilizar ambas ranuras.

Por lo general, la computadora portátil usa primero la batería primaria, es decir, la batería interna (muestra la batería 1 en la barra de tareas de Windows). Una vez que la batería se descarga, cambiará a la batería secundaria (muestra la batería 2 en la barra de tareas de Windows), lo que significa batería extraíble.

@@wisdom9651 there are 2 methods to find it out. First method you can check in task bar battery section it will show battery 1 & battery 2, another method remove the bottom housing and find the internal battery compartment. That's it

No need to purchase seperately bcz it comes with laptop. Some old T480 models have SATA cable. if your laptop not have this cable you should purchase seperately.

yeah, I am also having the same issue too. Is it need to change the internal battery? I did searched how to troubleshoot the issue, already upgrade the bios it seems not solving the issue. If both external and internal works this would be convenient.

you should install physical modem module, if i understand the schema well.
on M.2 2242 is for SSD SATA or NVME SSD?
You can add both type of SSD.

Performance is better if you match the CAS latency.

Buy in local shop they will provide same CAS Latency RAMs.. or you can use crucial brand RAM because this is universal compatibility. But you can match same frequency speed.

Yes you can upgrade to NVMe with the help of NVMe adaptor as shown in video.. also you can add SSD in m.2 slot
