you should go listen to the anthology version (i know you dont want a lot of songs on the album, but give it a chance. the prophecy is a personal favourite, so is cassandra but its kinda country).
also the first listen is good but its the listens after it that get you hooked, trust me (coming from someone who hated fortnight first listen but now I love it) (It's been a week and I'm in love).
Great Video! You are right it's a moody album. Can I share my thoughts on some of your notes? About the Tattooed Golden Retriever: She likes to use common modern phrases and turn them around, you know how everyone is saying "he (as in a boyfriend) has golden retriever energy" meaning he is a "go lucky" happy guy that just likes to be around you. Well if he is tattooed he has an outward appearance as a "Bad Guy". So he smoked a bunch, got the munchies, but he is laying on her lap falling asleep as she strokes his hair. Its not as dumb as it sounds because it paints a really clear picture of the attitude she gets from this character. The reason loml and I Can Do It With A Broken Heart go in that order is because in real life, she suffered this long painful breakup, and immediately had to go to rehearsals for the Eras Tour. Can you imagine how painful that must feel? Well she made us feel that by putting the songs in that order. She has done this before in her album Red when she put All TooWell and then 22 right after. It's because they happened in that order. I know its not obvious and its things you learn behind the scenes, but its just interesting that she makes those choices and when you know that, you realize its not a mistake its intentional and drives home the feeling she is trying to convey.
Thanks, yeah I'm not a fan so I only know little of her. I do think the record would pack more of a punch if it was a few songs shorter...but obviously she's doing just fine the way it is. I'm looking forward to seeing where she goes from here.
Let's talk about "Music" now. Did you preorder your copy of Frank Zappa and the Mothers "Whiskey A Go-Go 1968" yet ? ? ? The web site says "WILD FIVE-HOUR SHOW RECORDED AT LEGENDARY L.A. VENUE, THE WHISKY A GO GO, ORIGINALLY INTENDED FOR A LIVE RELEASE, REMAINED MOSTLY UNHEARD UNTIL NOW. They are going fast !

Ya know I went through a time where I listened to some Zappa, Captain Beefheart etc... but it just never stuck with me.
