Great videos Scott, I've really been enjoying them. They're a perfect resource for someone like me who knows a thing or two about scotch and is looking to explore some new (hopefully more affordable) options. I just picked up a bottle of the heavily peated Kilkerran which is a very interesting WiP though at this stage it's a lot like their 8 yo CS with a bunch of peat awkwardly tacked on. I assume later batches will improve as the spirit and peat get better acquainted, but I think they have some of the best distillate in Scotland so it's still a worthwhile experience if you find it for an okay price.
Thanks! And yeah, as a fan of their core range I've had peated Kilkerran in my eye for awhile. It's still a baby but even if it doesn't up there with Longrow, at least it's reasonably priced by comparison! Some of the rum reviews might warrant your attention, by the way. If you're a fan of peat and Campbeltown, take a hard look at Hampden...
Nice video! I've recently bought the Port Charlotte OLC:01 and was very impressed (review on my own channel too). I'm should be digging deeper into their range.
I'll check it out! They're really beginning to come into their own, I think. It's also kinda nice that Bruichladdich is keeping their line of bottlings down to, like, under 20 these days.
Kilchoman has higher peat level than PC: 50-55ppm (Ardbeg spec) from Port Ellen Maltings (except 100% Islay) Islay Peat, while Bruichladdich uses peated barley around 40ppm from Bairds Maltings near Inverness. So PC is less peated and made from mainland peat, which makes it more like a peated highlander.
You know, I think you're right. The *percieved* peatiness of MB is far lower than that and I recalled that Kilchoman did a bunch of 20ppm batches, so I assumed the MB was among their number. (A good lesson not to assume, nor to read too much into measurements of the wash.)
I hate all y'all! That's really the price it should be at, quality-wise: Machir Bay is well up for crushing Laphroaig Selects and Ardmore Legacies and entry-level Bowmores and stuff, but not far beyond that...

Nice video. The Kilchroman can be had for less then 40 Bucks here in Germany which makes it much better value.
