I'm unsure if anyone could have saved Elvis from substance abuse. Elvis loved his fans but it's terrible they hounded him so much and didn't allow him to live a more normal life. Fame cost him very dear😢 😢

How do you know he had substance abuse? Those drugs he was prescribed are ones the body becomes physiologically dependent on, and one has to keep taking them to even function or stay alive. It's called down regulation. The drugs literally strip the brain of necessary receptors in the GABA system.

Yes, but in case you don't know... Yellow roses symbolize 'friendship'. Red roses symbolize a romantic interest or are for lovers. EP was respectful of the fact that they both were married as Margaret married shortly after EP married Priscilla. The yellow roses to his friend continued respectfully even after he and Priscilla divorced. He liked Ann Margaret very much but remained respectful of her marriage and his lifestyle... He stopped pursuing Margaret romantically sometime before marrying Priscilla.

touring together? do you know elvis believes 'you cant take your wife to work?' that is why he left Priscilla, Linda and many women at home, when he went on long tours barely at home. that broke his relationship with ladies. he also was a women's man, something he admitted himself. it would have still broken Ann's heart eventually cos nobody can share their loved ones like that. Ann could not have children another blow to Elvis' pride. It is not all fairy tale as it seems.
Sad, bittersweet for both Annie and Elvis.

I don't accept that she just happened to be in a place at the right time, frequented by someone who just happened to actually know Elvis and was approached entirely at random....even if she did fit the profile of Elvis' preference in young women.
I believe that Ann could have been good for Elvis in a way none of the others were.

I think they would have made a wonderful couple together both in their private live and on the screen. Elvis loved her, so he would have accepted her career. He would have had a much better life and probably he would be still alive. I am sure she would have helped him out of his drog addiction like June Carter did with Johnny Cash.
Ann Margret was a very serious partner, just look back and see how she behaved in her marriage. Great pity and very bad luck that Elvis missed her. I think she was the woman of his life.
To some degree it was Elvis' fault that he just couldn't cope with being alone, even for a time, and always showered special women with gifts of jewelry, clothes, furs, etc. in order to buy their loyalty and affection. His restlessness was obvious and it clouded his judgment. Very few people did not exploit him for something, and I believe Ann was among that minority.
Ann margret would not had an affair like Pricilla and her karate lover. Ann was faithful to her husband until he passed away.
They were too alike Ann & Elvis. I do not believe it would have worked out between Elvis or Ann, because Ann had a mind of her own. I believe Ann married the right man for herself & that is why she was successful in marriage. I do not think any woman could stick around with Elvis through a lifetime. Even though I know Elvis meant well

Priscilla and Ann are absolutely beautiful. I have a lot of respect for Ann Margret as she's a very talented, sincere, and kind-hearted woman. Elvis Presley made the best choice in choosing Priscilla as opposed to Ann I believe. Priscilla, at that time, wasn't as sophisticated as Margaret due to her youth... Priscilla was not a part of the 'Hollywood' scene in any way, which was truly the type of gal that EP preferred... Later, as time has revealed, Priscilla has proven to be not just another pretty face, but she has become a formidable businesswoman that has preserved EP's legacy overall. Ann Margaret as wonderful as she is doesn't seem to be as business-minded... Elvis Presley certainly made the right choice. Linda Thompson was with him for 5 years. He told her that he has a self destructive nature. she walked after such a long time. No way Ann Margaret would had been able to save him. A.M. was his equal in more ways than we can ever know. He was smitten by her and she was smitten by him too. It can be viewed how they were mutually in awe of each other. It could have lasted if not for the fact that he had made a promise to Cilla’s parents to keep her safe while living in the States. He could not go back on his word even as he had created a larger than life profile for himself. He would be haunted by his word if he had disgraced or abandoned his own self trust. He kept his word. But no doubt, years after his break up from A.M., they would reach out on a phone call to express their own thoughts for each other in kind tones. He would continue to send her bouquets whenever she had an opening night performance, anywhere she would appear. He loved this girl.

@@cerriberry6835 We will never know, but I disagree because Elvis loved God, but he never allowed God to guide his life; there's a difference and that difference can be what you rely on instead of drugs or sex. He had a woman that wasn't as much an enabler as the other women and they shared God. He looked so happy and at peace with Ann, and she would have held him accountable to God as well as her. His life started going down after that. I believe he made decisions that benefited others instead of himself and tried to find happiness, but he never really did. Priscilla practiced Scientology and Elvis met her as a very young lady when he was mourning his mother. Had she not been a scandal, he would have released her; she knew that! Elvis wasn't addicted yet when he was with Ann. I think he tried to love his life with Priscilla because of Lisa, but she wasn't a fit; she was pretty like all the others, but there was not the same type of relationship. Many of us don't marry our true love. I believe all things are possible with God, but that takes our cooperation. Elvis didn't have the right people around him to learn to lean on God, but yes, he did love God.

Who said that? When they lived in California he didn’t always have a cook. Priscilla cooked meals on Sunday. They all sat down together to have dinner. She may not have done it all but she cooked them. Jerry schilling told that story . If no one was at the California house to cook Sonny cooked too. Sonny told that. Elvis cooked stuff too. One of the girls that was a neighbor told of walking in the kitchen with Elvis at the stove at Graceland. There were so many people in and out of the house. Different people cooked at different times avd so did the cooks.
Elvis met Priscilla when she was a teenager. He wanted a virgin and wanted to control Priscilla. Elvis met Ann Margaret afterwards. AM was an adult

I believe he'd been alot happier w Ann Margret. She was alot like him but she would not had given her career up the same for Elvis Presley his career came first to. Elvis Presley wanted a woman to be in the home a take care of the kids a home. But also Ann Margret couldn't bare children. I believe he chose Priscilla because she could give him kids a he could mold her into the kind of woman he wanted her to be. But Priscilla got tired of him leaving her alone a other women. She left Elvis and took Lisa to live in California. Elvis Presley never got over his divorce a separation from his baby girl it began to take it's toil on him.
Elvis didn't know Ann couldn't have children. Ann didn't even know. She said her and her husband tried for years to have kids, well into her thirties.
If Elvis chose Ann over Priscilla, Priscilla’s life would have been a much simpler, and happier one. Let’s face it, as much joy as Elvis brought us the fans, there was so much turmoil in his life. Thus the tragic ending, money doesn’t bring happiness, pseudo happiness only. Sadly Elvis’s money didn’t bring happiness to he or his family. The sadness and turmoil still follows Priscilla, and Lisa today.

He was a southern man. I think he needed a strong woman. A woman who is NOT dependet on him. Especially in the 70's he needed a strong hand which gives him a wall he can't break through. He was drug addicted and all of his friends he paid couldn't stopp him. The hand who feeds you, you'll never bite. AM could have do it differently 👍
Ann shared his love for God and was strong. She could have brought something to that relationship that wasn't present in any of the others.

@@cindywestlake6278 I think Elvis realized his thinking was all wrong sometime in the mid 70's and it likely exasperated his already depressed outlook. He met with Ann after one of her shows in the mid 70's and asked her to marry him, I believe knowing she couldn't and she couldn't. I think he did that so at least she would have gotten her ask from him. I truly believe Ann gave this life to Roger Smith and Elvis have his to Priscilla and his career, but I think Ann may thinks the next life they will be together. If you study what Ann says about Elvis and how deeply she speaks when talking about him and how emotional she is about it and all the other details we know of when Elvis came up over the years, I don't think that's a big stretch to think Ann believes that.

I know that may seem a little wild, but what we do know about what she has said, was that they were so alike in what they believed, especially spiritually, and that may be one of the few times Elvis bonded that deep with someone, is why i say that about the next life. Even to this day Ann will get emotional when speaking about Elvis, Linda Thompson, even as close as they were and how great she still speaks of him, saying he was the love of her life, is no where moved like Ann is when his name comes up. In fact, Ann seems more like the ex wife or widow, than Priscilla, if you contrast how they speak about him. I think that is very telling.

He didn't choose Ann Margaret. He put the wedding ring on Priscilla's hand. EP would not have chosen Ann to be his 'wife' since he wasn't interested in marrying any star/celebrity. He wanted a woman that would be totally devoted to him and their family. Priscilla was groomed to be his wife (he made that choice long before meeting Ann Margaret) and so his decision was made. Yes, he cared for and liked Margaret very much as their loving relationship was valued by him for about one year... But, EP cut it off romantically once the show was over... EP had a very in-depth comprehension of how Hollywood works... EP was a true singer/entertainer and far from being naive as he understood that besides fame and fortune 'Hollywood' couldn't give him much else, and certainly not a 'wife'. He made the best choice by choosing and sticking with Priscilla, and even after their divorce he expressed that he wanted his wife back... But Priscilla declined as she stated that she had, discovered Priscilla and how to live in the real world... I paraphrase.

I think you are right! I love both of them, Ann Margret and Elvis Presley. It may have been like a power house to the public at first. Both would have been devastated in the end. To watch Elvis destruct was very hard for me even as a fan.

My opinion, I believe Elvis and Priscilla had a special relationship first. Elvis made too many promises to Priscilla's dad. Not to go through them. I believe he loved Priscilla. Col. Parker, told Elvis he needed to make a decision. Elvis, I do believe, he felt trapped to make the decision, between (2) women he loved. Elvis feel in love with Ann, while at the same time. He was still talking and pursuing Priscilla. It wasn't until, Ann was caught off guard by a the paparazzi's with questions. She probably didn't mean it how it was perceived. In which, Elvis made the decision. As far as the pain killers he was taking and other stuff. He was hooked and had a problem. No one could help him with that. Regardless who Elvis chose. He was never happy , with one women no way. I don't believe that Lisa was his only child either.

Ann Margret appeared in Viva Las Vegas with Elvis, he was 28 & she was 22 & just starting out with her career. There was INSTANT Chemistry between the two when they met. He had already made 14 movies & there was talk she only took the role, as at the end of the film they get married. She didn't feel bad as Elvis & Priscilla weren't married then, yes she was living at Graceland, but still not married. She could dance & sing, & was able to keep up with him. Elvis constantly had affairs all throughout his life, when he was seeing Ann Margret, after the film finished, & when he was with Priscilla. I don't think his marriage to Ann Margret would have lasted, as he wanted a wife to stay at home, cook his dinner & be available to him whenever he wanted. She had worked very hard to get her career going, she would never have given it up to be just a housewife. Elvis did love Priscilla, but it still didn't stop him from having one night stands or on going affairs. It has been documented when Priscilla was pregnant & had Lisa Marie, he never slept with her again as he saw her as a Mother figure, & didn't think it was right. Whether this is true, I'm not sure, but it has been documented Priscilla had affairs herself when he was away touring. To this day, Ann Margret will never talk about her relationship with Elvis, she always claims it's too private. The day Elvis passed away, she knew something was wrong, whenever she was performing in a show, Elvis ALWAYS sent her flowers in the shape of a guitar. The reason it would have been bad, is because he met her when she was young, she moved to graceland to graduate high school and promised to marry her when she was a woman. So, if he would have dumped her after all that, and Priscilla and her family told the media about it, he would have looked like a heel and it would have hurt his career very much, the thing he loved most maybe.

She didn't give a definite answer as she would want to research thoroughly, but did say that she did not know of any other women Elvis was seeing while with Ann.
