a lot of the younger people who have discovered Kyuss that didn't live through the 1990s and aren't from generation x born in the 1970s or late 60, tend to think that"blues for The red sun"was their best album. I think it's their second-best. "Welcome to sky valley" was in my opinion the best album they ever made
@@le4289 Reeder for some reason is a right-handed guy,and he would take a bass that was strung up for a right-handed person, and just flip it over without switching the strings around to accommodate left hand playing. That always kind of blew my mind.he's playing on the wrong hand and the strings are backwards. But he's just as good as Geezer Butler. Ambidextrous.the only other player I can think of who is truly ambidextrous is Michelangelo Battiatto the guitar player. Steve Vai played left-handed on that giant guitar shaped like a heart with two necks on the right side and one neck on the left. Steve says he could never really play the left one properly. That puts Scott in a class of his own completely separate from every other bass player or guitar player. I personally think the dude is a freaking musical prodigy....
I met Scott before a Kyuss reunion show years ago (the one before Kyuss Lives). Him and I talked about music production for at least an hour before sound check. Has to be the nicest of my childhood idols that I've been fortunate enough to meet. My favorite thing I remember is that he told me that he had a back door going out of his studio and ran an 1/8 inch cable out to listen to mixes in his car. Music like Kyuss is always best listened to in a car, totally immersed in the sound.
I love Kyuss: Welcome to Sky Valley because of his bass playing! Supa scoopa, Demon Cleaner, and Space Cadet are amazing! I never realized he plays left handed with it string as a right handed bass. Guess I’ve never watched film of him playing.
I love this guy, so humble, talented and positive. He deserve much more in terms of respect, consideration and success. Why he never follow Josh in QOTSA?
kyuss wretch album is very underrated I really enjoy that album. But certainly Sky Valley is their best album then Blues For The Red Sun I guess I would put wretch next after that and the circus leaves town
but besides the nut the only thing you would have to do is just get a lefty bass, this was one of the reasons i just started buying left handed instruments, it wasnt worth it to switch strings on a righty, or even play it like scott does cause it just causes so many issues
@@stuartmorris2803 You obviously aren't a musician. Scott is much more technically skilled than Nick, and has more groove too. Nick is a good punk rock bassist, but not much more.
Such an underrated bass player! One of my favourites!
James Burns for sure, could got the Metallica gig. God bless Rob, but I'm sure Scott wasnt far behind!
@@joshv5376 Scott is better than Rob anyway.
So humble. Sky Valley is probably my favorite album of all time.

Sky Valley, agreed, its phenomenal!
@@ziggylayneable agreed, oliveri was great, but reeder was really something else.

Such a humble individual. Thanks Scott for being a inspiration to many sorry bass players such as myself!

I have the same question.
Such a good guy , humble and just a beast bass player :)

Loved his solo album. I'm going to listen to it tonight as it's been a few years.
Scott is the bass....Love this guy!
I *love* Scott, his solo album is _brilliant_, you have to check it ( _Tunnelvision brilliance_)

Absolute legend.

What a beautiful and talented human!

When is he gonna do a album with the Melvins
People have always told me I looked like Scott. I've been hearing it since I was 30 years old. I'm 47
Most people I know do not even know who Kyuss is, let alone Scott Reeder. You are the one who says it.
Wow, your thumbnail looks like him
even on a lefty he plays upside down .....very cool
The man, the myth.
"Coudn't play the drums, so just accidentally became the best bassist of all time.."
Scotty is the Jimi Hendrix of bass players!!!!
Sky Valley on Mushrooms 🍄 is essential
The only bassist so awesome Metallica auditioned for him
Ya esta viejo :/

But don't you think that inverted string position made his playing to be so different?
He's no Oliveri
LOL He's way better.

Your move
