So many great movie stars in French film from that era. There's nobody like them in French films now, same with American film (where are the Humphrey Bogarts, Gary Coopers, Barbara Stanwycks?) . Gabin was a tremendous presence on the screen among so many other French greats in his day like the incomparable Louis Jouvet, Pierre Blanchard, Edwige Feuillere, Harry Baur and so many others.
