  • My piano version of the classic Disney song, originally sung by Peggy Lee from the movie, "Lady and the Tramp".

Thank you so much for a lovely instrumental of one of my very favorite songs! The video is lovely too, the way you wove the animated images of the cat scenes from the motion picture behind and over you. I get the impression you must be fond of this song too?

You're welcome and thanks for the compliments. Even as a child I liked the song. The villainous Si and Am trashing the place then framing Lady for the destruction. They were deceitful little angels feigning victimization with complete impunity and were lovingly rewarded in the end. It was a great life lesson that evil is treacherous and not always defeated. Peggy Lee co-wrote and performed the song. All kinds of present day fallout over what some consider racist stereotyping but I take no offence. It was a sign of the times. People seemed to be able to laugh at themselves back then without getting all butt hurt.

@@DanChanPiano - Indeed! So refreshing to hear, I agree entirely. Nearly every version of this song, from the peculiar, unfamiliar recordings done for 45s, to the motion picture clip itself, the conversations in the comments section always turn from "Oh how cute, I love them, they were so sly," to "It's racist," and only spirals out of control downward from there. It gets tiring so I've stopped reading, save for the first one or two comments often saying their own Siamese were like this, or how the song terrified them as a child, and so on. Again, thank you for your work and your comment, very insightful on all counts.
