"what did you expect from a bollywood film?"

Pyar Ka Punchnama - 1 was a different take on relations which was never explored in Bollywood. And it was grounded and relatable.
And then came Pyar ka Punchnama -2 where everything went big, relatability and storytelling took a back seat.
Now this .. big budget, big starts no depth.

@@iman.k8316 This movie is the ultimate desi male fantasy movie. Shraddha's character is basically the trope known as 'cool girl' . She's a male fantasy version of what women should/can be: she eats 3 platefuls but is thin and gorgeous. She drinks, dances openly in the club, sleeps with the male lead without any commitments, but then she's also happy to be with him because he wants emotional fulfilment. She's someone with her own career and dreams and goals, but then she is happy to settle for a dude with limited ambitions even though she specifically mentioned she didn't want to marry someone like that. When she does get what she wants (when the engagement breaks) she's totally broken, drinking and passing out and has to be cared for by other people like Dabbas, his wife and later when she falls, by Mickey's family. Finally, he manages to break and domesticate her into marrying him and settling into his life.
The movie made some great points, like when he says to her that she would have shared him with their kids so why not his family - I agree fully with that. I have been the Mickey in that kind of situation (ladka bhaag gaya jab main boli ki main tumhare parents ke saath rehna chahti hu, kyunki tum akele bete ho unke). But the movie never gave Tinny's emotions any value. "meri family waise nahin hain" bol diya aur saab sorted? The thing that broke Tinny was when Mickey's parents said to her naukri chhod dena. Even thought they never said it from a place of malice, it really hurt Tinny because her own mother, despite being a qualified accountant, never got a chance to build her career because of her dad's family. Even in the single scene just after Dabbas's wedding, her family basically were telling her to marry him. Only her mother asked her what she felt. She had deep-seated trauma because of what happened to her parents, and instead of being cheesy, the film could very easily have made more of an effort to show her changing her thoughts.

Wahin thi na, jo Tinny ki gynac tak badalwane lag gayi thi. Can you imagine that situation - not even feeling like you can discuss private and sensitive issues with your doctor because they might share that with others in your family or nosy relatives. I would hate that. Something as private as your health becoming a topic of discussion with your nosy relatives would be hell

Did you watch a Bollywood movie and expect a valid story considering both male and female perspectives, with a fulfilling character progression from both sides, resulting in two emotionally evolved parties coming together for a happy ending?
      LOL.
Jokes aside, you raised some very very valid points, but invalidated the basis of your comment by 'hoping' they would have been resolved. This doesn't happen. This is Bollywood, where the male ALWAYS gets his way. And in the movies where the female gets her way, there's either no male lead or she's the villain. This is also the reason I cannot date someone who religiously watches Bollywood movies, because these ideas are so thoroughly ingrained in the audiences' minds, it's futile to expect any sort of progressive thought.
I used to sit and wonder why Hollywood was a lot better with their storylines, and had so much more character in their leads, and hope Bollywood would someday emulate that. But nah, these movies are catered to a specific audience. The majority of people who crave 'happy' endings where the male is validated and female ke dream bhaad mein jaane do. 'She can compromise na? She will learn to adapt na?'
Well this started with one sentence and has turned into a rant. Who knew the most entertaining timepass channel around (thanks Yogi Baba) could inspire such deep, relevant thoughts. Multi-layered timepass. I'm here for it.

Mickey's family was so intrusive, never giving them personal space, never letting them go out alone, even interfering with her medical care and changing her gynaecologist, who TF does that? In the end the director spent minimum amount of time making them acknowledge their mistakes but the end credit scenes showed how they didn't learn anything from it. The director literally romanticized her family being involved in their lives every fucking second just by showing that they couldn't have been able to take care of their baby without them. Jesus, come to the real world. Here both parents work 9-5 jobs and still manage to take care of their own kids without any help

Nahh dude, 1 hafte ke baad leke jaana matlab you don't take your relationship seriously. It is always better that you get to know each other with time, each other's families, expectation, goals and everything then make the matter serious enough for family. Even watching, I felt that Shraddha ke character par emotional pressure tha family se milne ke baad. Break up consultant ki zaroorat nahi hoti if Ranbir's character was not itna fast in the relationship, time ke saath she could have expressed her thoughts more clearly

It’s more that Japanese content is strictly monitored under rigid copyright laws; music, movies, books, etc. - unless you have a legal license for reproduction, certain public usage of the content will likely be flagged for takedown. They’re so intense about this that even international artists have their Japanese content restricted to within the country if their distributors refuse to budge on licensing. In this case, I think that since almost the entire movie was shown in the video, the studio thought it exceeded the usual limits of reasonable usage of the material.

She is actually guilt tripped into liking the family. Koi sense hai is baat ki??
I don't say that they are bad people but they are DIFFERENT from her. Why is that a problem? Doesn't Minny (the sister) do the same? Why wasn't her husband forced to move in with them and take olive oil wala butter chicken in his lunch box everyday? A more logical end should have been either Tinni and Mickey breaking up for good or them moving out and spending a decent amount of time visiting the family.
