Yea they are apparently going to try to get Ohtani to start again in the next day or so since he didn't throw much that game due to the long delay and so didn't gain any real arm fatigue. Honestly I'm hoping he stays as brilliant as he's been on the mound and also goes nuts at the plate again, let him win MVP AND Cy Young in the same year and unlike the other guys who won both make sure its recorded that he won the MVP on the plate and Cy Young on the mound.
I give Burnes a lot of credit for executing the play. It's actually a play that is being worked on by teams. In fact, the M's worked on the same play to wait until the clock goes down. Adds an extra layer to the game for sure.
Other possible moments of zen: 1. Shohei standing on mound in the rain for 10 mins 2. Shohei's jacket zipper troubles/ running the bases with a pitcher's jacket ..but the cap catch was good, too :) I wonder why they didn't let Ohtani wait in the dugout while the mound was getting fixed.. Read an article that his request was denied by the umps. Any thoughts? Thank you v much, the pitching highlights were great per usual!
It's interesting how some pitchers' changeups have a lot of late movement but go mostly straight before that, while other pitchers' changeups look more like splitters, they start diving down and away directly upon release. I wonder why that is the case?
Damn straight, hitting 97 when needed and that sword was hilarious. 4 innings shut out baseball ain't too bad for almost 2 years away from professional baseball.
@@billytuff8286 jomboy media isn't too keen on him as a whole, but most either act like he doesn't exist anymore or have big questions like why Acuna is still in the MLB... and Trevor is basically black balled.
Wait, Dane Dunning had 4.1 innings of just 1 hit and 1 walk and has the most innings with still 0 ERA in baseball and doesn't even get a mention in the reliever section?
I mean, they did lol.... It was tested in the minors for a while before they brought it to MLB. This was completely on the runner for getting too far off. Could have easily been avoided
ANOTHER filthiest pitcher of the day against the As. Seems like at least a quarter of these all year will come from teams facing the As. As a bay area native, very sad
I’ve only been here for a week or two, and I’m still pretty new to paying attention to pitching. But I just wanted to say that I think it’s really cool that you highlight pitchers even if they didn’t have a great outing.
Watch the toes. So long as the front end of the foot goes toward the base they’re throwing to, it’s fine. That’s literally all that separates a balk from a pickoff. You can be as deceptive as you want so long as you follow that rule.
I’d love to see you do a comparison on Fried’s gyro slider and sweeper. Seems like he was using the sweeper more Monday. Do you think it might have to do with how it pairs with his curve?
Could be an unpopular opinion, but I wish the videos were related only to the title. Production value is great, but I keep getting tricked into thinking the video is about what's in the title. Success is being found with what you are doing, obviously. I saw someone wearing your merch at a museum!
I don't see what that play has to do with the pitch clock. Either way Suarez was dumb and didn't wait to see if the pitcher was going home before taking off. Pitchers often do an inside move in that situation to see if they can catch the runner not thinking
I work a second shift at a warehouse and am trying to juggle that with passing my last year of high school. We get a 30 minute break, and the first thing I do is head for your channel. Your videos genuinely make my night better. Keep it up man:)
I love your dry delivery so much, it always makes me laugh. You know as soon as you hear the name Luzardo, that Jezus Lizard is coming, but I still chuckle. Same goes for Rich Hill. Keep doing what you're doing.
Seriously deGrom cannot catch a break with all these injuries, really hope he can simply stay healthy. Be an absolute shame if his career keeps going down the same path, I really don't want us all to look back on him and wonder how great he might have been if he could have just stayed healthy.
@@PitchingNinjaVideos but you still call a rectangle a rectangle and a square a square. This isn’t an apples and oranges thing and quite frankly dumb to attempt to distinguish the two when visually and conceptually they are the exact same pitch.
Dude this is like complaining about calling a cutter a cutter cuz “ITS JUST A FASTBALL” like yeah it is. But a different type. We’ve needed a name for frisbee sliders and sweeper is a great name for the pitch
@@stevemeters3090 You're saying its the same pitch but then go on to describe how its different?? So it obviously isn't the same then and thats why its called something different
Burnes runs like my 55 year old dad trying to beat the beer line after the inning ends.
Gold, Greg. Pure gold.
So accurate, saw this live and was like oh my goodness that man needs to jog a bit more.
Very reminiscent of a lava lamp when he hit full stride
He also runs like my dad who’s 62 and he trying get concessions before the previews end at the theater.

Pitch clock manipulation is truly an art form.

The grip and release point all affect the spin on the ball that dictates the movement
Max Fried easily could’ve been the best starter of the day, but he was on a pitch limit
Agreed!
Bro what was that randy johnson pitch in the intro. I need to see the uncut video of that

You can tell MLB really thought through these rules before implementing them.

And people said that implementing the clock limited the strategy of the game lol… Excuses from people who can’t accept change.
Can you explain how some pickoffs aren’t balks? It feels like a lot of good pick offs could be called balks.
Do you mean balk?

There's some bullshit distinction somewhere in the rules that someone will provide like it makes total sense.
Kelenic hit a 482 ft bomb at Wrigley and can't even get on Dong of the Week 😔

Hunter Greene is on his way to Seattle when his service time is up. The last perfect game ever was Felix Hernandez, and he had a 90+ changeup as well

A sweeper is a slider wtf?
A sweeper is a subset of sliders. A square is a subset of rectangles. You can have a name for a specific subset.
It's dumb terminology. A "sweeper" is a slider with more horizontal than vertical break. Same pitch.
