Such a beautiful video of the coral reef, maybe I should purchase it so I can watch it on a big screen and when ever I want. Who knew there was so much life at the bottom of the sea. All that single cell bacteria just producing life on our earth. i think there must be lots more pictures to take and names to name too. The children might even like it more than cartoons, there are so many colours and shapes and sizes.

Now see, people? _This_ is how a UA-cam post is *supposed* to be: The title is accurate, the quality if decent and there's even subtitles (not the auto-generated ones, either)! Thank you, @Superb Documentaries. Your channel's name is accurate, too, imo. =) Needless to say, I subscribed a long time ago.

I really enjoy this video. I have seen many times on different channels here and there but I still will watch and enjoy if it’s been a while since I have seen it haha. Please upload more wildlife documentaries omg ! It is the only content I even watch on here and happy to watch and support any good narrated documentaries for sure !! I haha enjoyed several on your channel that you’ve already uploaded and look forward to more hopefully !! Thank u ! Take care ! This one is definitely a good one ! They need to have better narrators in most the content we ever are shown ( especially in content in today’s world omg ). This man did a good job. He sounds more comfortable and natural , unlike most who can’t read a script for anything without trying so hard to be all edgy or predictably annoying , with how some are so flatlined and drone like or typical in how they read the script in such a repetitive way, same inflections and same pauses and cadences, where nothing about them sounds authentic or as if they have any remote experience in broadcasting. I especially get annoyed having to listen to all those annoying celebrities who you’d think could read a script and be believable but no. So many of them are so fixated on trying to come off a certain way ,trying to be so edgy & thinking they’re so relevant, when they sound horribly annoying. I truly appreciate this lovely vid.

fears are something that used to help us survive. Today, they have more of a getting your attention utility. Nowadays they are more of a psychic throttle, limiting our possibilities. Many fear the ocean because they can't see below the surface. Think of it this way: you're toolin down the road a relatively happy camper, then ... rain falls so fast that you can't see where you're going. Oh man what do I do what do I do?????? Fear of....sets in(short time for some longer for others)!!!!!!! Pretty much without even thinking you turn on your wimpy wipers so you can see what you couldn't a moment ago. Your frightened feelings dissapte. Feelings????? Has a feeling EVER ACTUALLY HARMED YOU? I don't think so. But then you remember you should have replaced those wimpy wipers last year. what do you do? Get new ones ASAP so can see safely.
I've been diving since 1973. 99.9999999999999999% of that time has filled me such awe, respect, marvel and wonderment that what I have gained from my relationship with the ocean is greater than what I know I have received. There is more biodiversity, per square foot, on a healthy reef than you can find anywhere else in the world. Scuze me, soap box time: And we're killing our oceans!!!- over fishing, pollution, climate change you name it. We saw the bounty as ours to exploit without worry because its so vast( 75 % of the earth's surface is covered by our oceans). We know more about what lies outside our air bubble than we know about the ocean. Our exploitations have brought entire species to near extinction. You gone baby, no return ticket for you! We dump our sewage, waste and a lot of other crap into it because of our belief in an endless ocean. Why worry? Theres so much water it'll dilute anything, plus it'll never get to us because its so far removed from US! Out of sight out of mind, the quotation of a foolish idiot. OK now, I step down from the box- well not quite yet; eat shrimp? get edicated find out how they're harvested! NOW I'm done. What the ocean does offer is the limitless potential to get YOU out of your own way. Are there beasties subsurface, could you get hurt ? Sure, but you don't fear and limit yourself above the ocean because you COULD get hit by a car, a bus,a bicycle, someone on skates, a plane, a train, rain, cellophane?;sorry I was on a roll!!, stung by a wasp, a bee, bitten by a dog, a frog,a cat, a mosquito, a bat, a friend, stabbed, shot, beaten, accosted. not get the correct change a cashier, audited, hit by lightening, a meteor from outer space, be in a plane crash. I've been nose to nose with a shark, seriously, about 12" me to it. My fault!!. Still have my nose and face. The shark 'knew' I wasn't a threat and let me know. Teeth, open mouth, nope just body language. I thanked the shark for not munchin on my face, backed off , took more pictures and the entire time marveled at what had just gone on all the while still knowing I could continue experiencing and exploring mother ocean. I relate this story because l, me put myself in that situation. The shark was just there being. Face it, below the surface is the same as our above surface, just more dense.. We're just passin through with their unspoken permission. I'm a scuba instructor, pool to open water, snorkel to scuba. Even those who were fearful or timid at first, realised that fear of the unknown feeling was voted out of office by their own VOTE. Rarely has it been necessary to ask, how was your dive? The ear to ear smile smile and laughter answered that unspoken question. Give it shot. Learn in a pool, get comfortable. You're not scared of what's under the pools surface? Just think of the ocean as a really really really large pool that's ALWAYS changing below its surface. Mahalo for reading this. PEACE!

Great question! Google it to start your process of learning... do you realise that humans are mainly bacteria? Each of us consists of about 40 trillion human cells and about 22,000 human genes, but as many as 100 trillion microbial cells (the microbiota) and 2 million microbial genes (the metagenome). Understanding the microbial side of ourselves may therefore be critically important for understanding human biology. Biodiversity is the key to all health, ours and the reefs and the whole planet, we need to protect it and encourage it. :)

    Economic importance
    Coral reefs are exploited for:
    • Food (fish, lobsters, clams, snails, squids, octopuses, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, seaweeds).
    • Ornaments (corals, shells, ornamental fish, sea-snake leather).
    • Materials for fishing/hunting (baits, toxins).
    • Building materials for houses and roads (corals).
    • Lime for agriculture, cement manufacture-and whitewashing.
    • Bioactive substances (drugs with antimicrobial, antileukemic, anticoagulant, cardioactive properties; insecticides, etc.) extracted from reef organisms.

It's not dead yet. Do your research and stop listening to food critic's scientific 'findings'.

Yuan Satorre the Great Barrier Reef only came to existence 10,000 years ago lol.. Do You really think it was around at the dawn of time? And btw only some of its dead. Educate yourself so you don't look like an idiot.

Why did Nat Geo lie about reef dying because of global warming? Coral growth is up 20% today. It’s been going in cycles for thousands of years

if i ended up as queensland premier, i would invest a crapload of money into assisting the reef to regenerate as well as divert ships so that in an event of oil spills it wouldnt affect that area

The good news is, it is easy to grow new ones, I could do it but don't have the cash. I'm thinking a kickstarter campaign could be the answer! Funny how all the buggers in power, the ones that hold all the purse-strings just sit back and let it happen pretending there is nothing they can do! makes me sick.

@@RichardTavilla How do I feel about conspiracy theorists? Nothing. I did however read an article TODAY about how the scientists examining the reefs were crying in their diving masks because of all the damage. How does that make YOU feel? Is it just lies? Did The Guardian and the scientists fake the entire article and the pictures??
Search "Great Barrier Reef suffering ‘most severe’ coral bleaching on record as footage shows damage 18 metres down" for the article.

Should be rescreened on Australian television. Everyone should be aware of what is at stake for future generations - given the current coral bleaching, and changes to our landscape, effectively trading short term economic gain for one of the seven wonders of our world. How can we apologize to those who come after us for our lack of foresight and selfishness.

be prepared to see devastation decades in the making. Hardy Reef off the coast of Whitsundays, Australia. Everyone is in denial but the sadness you will witness at what man has done to nature cannot be denied. The image is one of a fine haze of human faeces colour everywhere you look. Every coral structure is brown and lifeless. Gone are the brilliant plant life and sea flowers from postcards of decades ago. This has not happened from only two years of global warming, no way. The depth and concentration of despair will leave you alarmed and concerned at what the ramifications are of this devastation. I can not rest easy now after seeing this just yesterday the 18th of March 2017. Gigantic Coral structures what would have taken thousands and thousands of years to grow dead by poison. The damage is more than global warming, Chemical run off from pesticides and fertiliser over decades has caused this graveyard.
