The Big Fish Are Under The Docks, Fishing For Snook With Shrimp, Mojarras And Topwater Lures Inshore

  • While fishing with live shrimp and a Mojarra I hooked three BIG fish under the same dock. Two of them were Snook for sure and the other was possibly a Redfish. I tried a new area along some Mangrove Trees and managed to land a decent sized Snook on a Zara Super Spook Jr. topwater lure and another one under a dock using shrimp. This video also includes a shrimp rigging tip, and some small Mangrove Snapper catches.

    Circle hooks: you dont yank it, you crank it... dont try and set the hook, just start reeling!

    I miss the old videos of bridge fishing and catching big snook. Jigs and the shrimp and everything. This is a good time to get some on bridges...summer is around the corner

      Yeah, I landed 16 Snook this week. I've been trying to get a keeper. I caught one yesterday that was 27" and one today that was 27-3/4" ha ha...Maybe tomorrow it will happen.

    JC, when I cast so many times and dont produce any, I usually change lures, type of lures, lures colors, weighs, jigs, and keep trying. Yesterday was the day that I was casting and nothing. So I changed lures and the color of the lure (to a darker color) and on the second cast I hooked a snook. Sometimes snooks arent bitting on hard lures, but does bite on soft lures.

    Your hook placement in the shrimp Is why you lost fish. You need point exposure and gap exposure

    Haha I cracked up when you did the limbo under that bridge. Oh and I want to mention something on the circle hooks...and trust me you're a way better fisherman than I am...but i had tips from pros when I've fished around that circle hooks has a technique to give you a better percentage on hooking fish. I saw that when you get the bite you pull like a J hook...I used to do the samething..but the technique is when they bite to come forward with the rod so the function of the hook slides towards the side of the mouth gets it done...then just reel...also the snell knot helps with more percentage as well. See if that works for you...I tried it and it worked for me...but you're right the J hook makes a huge difference. You're the man like always...didn't skip the whole video.

    I see you have discovered some of the nuances of dock fishing. There are a couple of more secrets to be revealed about docks. Also that yak would be ideal for trolling. Tie on that Yozuri Crystal minnow when Jacks are around and hang on. Tight lines.

    Hi JC, what motor do you have on your Old Time kaya? Thanks

  • @chuckerroo5977
    @chuckerroo5977 4 роки тому

    Jc. I dont know how old you are but man as much pedal yak fishing youv done you have to be in great shape. You missing that pedal drive at all ?

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. That's an interesting question with several variables that effect the answer. I do miss the workout I get with the pedal yak, but I take time to exercise when I'm not on the kayak; I enjoy riding my bike, a better cardio workout anyway...That then compensates for the lose of exercise and makes the electric motor experience so sweet! I live on the second floor. I do get a good workout hauling the 12 volt lead/acid battery up and down the stairs, something I don't get with the pedal kayak. Just moving that battery around to make the fishing adventure happen is giving the arms and legs a workout. Here's the one thing I miss about the pedal drive kayak, the additional length of the vessel. The electric motor yak is 10' 6" and the pedal drive is 13' 6". Most of the fishing I do is saltwater. The smaller yak is ideal for freshwater, but the longer yak suits better for saltwater fishing. So, in answer to your question, yes and no.

    J.C its time to go and catch some of those medium size pinfish and bring those out to that spot. It might weed out some of them small snook that are hittin' the shrimp. It also might entice some redfish action around the oyster bars you passed up along the way.
