@@corporate27 he trades futures, highly volatile, up and downs all the to the top, ups and downs all the way to the bottom, almost impossible to predict, movement is so fast price flys by ones stops, thus stop losses can be useless.

I do feel like trading has gotten easier over time, with respect to results per effort. In the beginning, we work hard only to lose. As time goes on, we work hard and are profitable, but not as profitable as we would like. Then we continue to work hard, and are more profitable, as we learn from mistakes and refine our strategies.

I've made it there and felt exactly what hes feeling (just haven't started taking big size). also awesome point about risk-adjusted returns. Merritt is the man! I've never heard of him before but everything he said is exactly what I do for SPY options. Mark Douglas, Market Profile, HA bars, monkey bars, levels, sessions etc. Especially a niche. This dude is the real deal!

Kobbaaaam ! Another amazing top notch interview
Forget all indicators. Focus on a naked chart. Pick swing highs, swing lows. Use anchored volume weighted average price to determine your selected swings average price, from which price in the beginnings pumps, once it goes very far away from it, draw a classic Andrews Pitchfork and place the middleline on the price and AVWAP cross. that's it. You got volatility channel, and a moving average that is volume weighted. Now trade based on the levels of pitchfork, all measured moves. That's it. Simplified. Also use modified pitchfork on low high low's to determine larger timeframe pricechannel and value direction.
This was a great interview. I follow SMB capital and they are constantly sharing value. I can tell Merritt has a lot of experience when it comes to trading. Great job!

The more I learn the more I get from these interviews.
That's why you plan ahead by investing your gains into more predictable long term investments... like maybe real estate. Then once your preferred strategies aren't working, you make money with your other investments to prepare for when your strats start working again.

Wow - loved this. Once again, great interview Alex - definitely going to be looking further into Merritt's resources -- wish I had the $$ to spend on it. I'm back to the 9-5 grind, never blew up, but realized my journey is going to take a lot longer than what I had saved up. Its SO HARD being back to working a traditional job when I'd much rather be studying the markets and building a playbook, but sadly only 24 hours in a day. Sure wish there was a way to pay the bills while I build my playbook and process... Already subbed and liked :).
That's what most traders are dealing with, you're not alone. Remember though, *Most* professional traders have blown up an account at least once. Expect that you will and trade small size! You learn the most from making mistakes. It's not a bad idea to paper trade or trade small size to start getting a feel for the market.
Afterall, trading is all about trading your personality. If thats true, then learning someone elses strategy won't work. You have to feel the market and find your niche. Good luck!
just what i needed, i am so happy i found this channel, begun trading futures on crypto, today i blew my account $100 after just 1 month of trading, but all the knowledge i have gained from the process, is so precious that i am okay with the process and planning to go deep in futures. thanks for the motivation to keep going.

I trade options and have an options trading journal I got off Amazon. They should have similar journals on there for stocks.
Merritt's value trading sounds like TPO/Market Profile? If so, another helpful tool. I don't think a lot of equities traders are aware of it or use it. If gives one another window at price action.

Fire interview. After years I’ve noticed that focusing on a specific market cap and sector helped me with screen time and identifying key levels and getting familiar with stocks. Just find what works for you but I KNOW now that Pennies give me anxiety 😂
