yesterday I heard and seen this video while i walk to some place, I was hypnotized by the mix of music and images. Thanks man, I'm today listeing again video congratulations!
Hi. He was a Hungarian producer. If you search on Hypem.com, there are some songs of his up (the Hold On remix is quite good too). I'm not sure if he is still active, he had some side projects if I remember correctly, you might have to do some searching. Let me know if you find anything!
Russians were absolute bad asses in sci-fi fx back in the day. The effects here were amazing. These helmets look very much like the ones in Ridley Scott's Alien. Love the robot. Those Russian babes were hot too!
Yeah, funny how Hollywood totally stifled anything coming from overseas way back when. They wanted the entire American entertainment segment to themselves. No telling how many really great films we Americans have missed because of this.
+Vince R not sure the babes were in it, at least in Russia. There are, essentially 3 cuts of this film the original, from Russia, was Planeta Bur (Planet Storm) or Storm Clouds of Venus. A recut for English speaking audiences had added scenes with famed character actor Basil Rathbone where it was called Voyage to The Prehistoric Planet. It was mostly released to European theaters. Then grindhouse mainstay Roger Corman got his hands on it and (with a rookie Peter Bogdonovitch) shot some additional footage, mostly focused around the babes (who were Californian, as you can tell from the presence of 60's Hollywood sex symbol Mamie VanDoren). This release was called Planet of the Prehistoric Women. Bogdonovitch also did some narration and dubbing on the film. It was the beginning of the end for VanDoren's career, but the beginning of Bogdonovitch's impressive career as an director and actor. Roger Corman (the Jesus of B movies) got a million dollar (or whatever that is in Russian rubles at the time) special effects budget for the price of slightly used Ford Thunderbird.
Well, as of like 8 months ago or so, Beyond Deep was still an artist, but yeah, he's added r.i.p. to the end of his name on his soundcloud, implying that he's done. which is really sad to think about. This song is literally... perfect. And his other stuff is great too, but, i guess all good things come to and end... :/
If you don't mind, how did you get the idea to make this? The combination of the video and remix make for a masterpiece. This should be just about as close to perfection and divinity as we'll ever get.
Thanks very much for the fine words. It's been a few years, but I remember that I'd come across the Beyond Deep remix first and was really enraptured by it. I wanted to make a music video but was lacking source material until stumbling across "Planet of the prehistoric women" on archive.org. I knew right away that it had great potential. The more I worked with it, the more I knew it was right. The movie is, by itself, quite bad, but I had this vision of creating out of it a sort of swashbuckling sci-fi western motif with a mysterious mermaid subplot. While it took a fair amount of editing, the movie was adaptable to the emotional turns of Beyond Deep's track. The marriage of the two created a meaning that neither possess alone. I've done several music videos and this one was by far the most enjoyable to make.
Does anybody know who "beyond deep" is? I looking for him or her and found...nothing...on soundcloud you only can find "R.I.P" but nothing more. I do not know how to deal with it...I know what R.I.P means but...i dont know if it meaned that this person is dead or its just the projekt what doesnt exist anymore. Please help if you can, if you know more about it. Thanks a lot!! Reini
Is six afraid of seven, ‘cause seven eight nine? I’m about to lose it a second time Staring at the wall, hour after hour Running up and down, over and over It’s so tricky tricky, this little one too, Well, if it is a lunatic we’ll name it after you. Put it in your pocket and pick it up We’re here to entertain, show them what you got. Six afraid of seven, ‘cause seven eight nine I’m afraid of losing the places I find If I was made equal, is this what I get: A bunch of stories to interpret? Is this song available without the lyrics? i know thats horrible but the song is great bt itself. vocals throw it off. i would like to ask for a copy or where i can buy instrumental version. thanks. sorry royksopp. you are gods anyways. sordid affair! oh god its good
Just what I was wondering. The special effects are impressive for it being such an old film. Looks like something I would want to watch if I could find it on DVD. Never even heard of Planet Of Storms, but it looks like it would have been a big feature in its day. There are movies from then that have much worse special effects that were massively popular so I am surprised that this one was not commonly known. Thanks to the people that answered for the info. Gonna have to look this one up and see if I can get it somehow.
Hi, I made this video a few years back. I got the footage off of archive.org. In my opinion, it's a bad movie. This video makes and the music makes it look cool. check it out here archive.org/details/VoyageToThePlanetOfPrehistoricWomen_20130813
Back here again.
Still love it, wish it was on Spotify.
Please spotify
stumbled across this years ago, and it's still one of my all-time favorite videos
Thanks!
Yes beautiful vocoder use. And it's SUCH an old technique / effect. My DAD could remember first hearing a piano 'talk' - and I am over 60!

Perfect combo of musical artist, DJ, and video. Gorgeous! 👌
royksopp, guys you should really include this on an official release sometime, this artist deserves it...
I love this. I didn't know how they were going to integrate the open into the existing song but I love what's been done here.

I didn't even know that Soviet Sci-Fi even existed. I was wondering why I hadn't seen this gem.

only Royksopp can say "6 afraid of 7 because 7 8 9" in a song as its main chorus and not make it sound corny af.
very well done. best of luck in future projects.
