It's a diesel. That is why the noise. Saw a number of them off road in Iceland. Actually good driving. I have driven 4x4 all over Iceland, in the Colorado Rockies, and the Arizona and California deserts. Some roads are similar to the Rockies and just as dangerous.
'Mooie filmpjes maken jullie! Prachtige omgeving! Doen jullie zendingswerk of iets anders in deze landen? Viel me wat op, De DAF klinkt niet helemaal lekker meer. Turbo mogelijk defect of de versnellingsbak? Hopelijk is het niets. In ieder geval Thumbs up! voor jullie avonturiers :-)
+Maikel Bagerman Bedankt voor het compliment. Nee geen zendingswerk. Slechts ter vermaak. Goed gehoord, in de versnellingsbak liep zo'n drie weken na dit filmpje een lager kapot, precies op de grens met Burundi.
If I loose air, the brakes will lock automatically. Seems you have never ridden a 12 tons truck down a steep hill like this. Without all the braking, I would have dropped the thing into the canyon...
@izzzzzz6 Just look at the model of the truck you will understand that he is a good drivers. This is a DAF, they were being manufactured in the 80s. Back then, they didn't come with sophistication of the modern day trucks. At best it could have hydraulic sterling and air brakes. The rest is very basic
Being a Tanzanian I know the route you followed is no accident. There were other easier routes but less exhilarating! Next time try Udzungwa mountains, Livingstone mountains and Kipengere. Though the last two could be wet most of the year!
Can you take us on a tour of your rig? See the inside ,and the storage on the outside? Great video!
I saw you and your dog …. Lovely
Good one,my beautiful land of Tanzania

Is there not a low enough gear to slow you down on the steep downhills?
