The video shows the dynamic of daily walk of about 6 km free roaming with two horses, one donkey and two dogs. Everyone has a certain autonomy to search food, run, explore and play as long as they don't do damage to the cultivation of the surrounding fields.
We have places where we can go to without disturbing anyone and where we can feel free to move as we like.
The relationship is based on trust and daily routine that we all can count on . They are used not to enter in cultivated fields, they are not obliged to stay on my side all the time, they can play with me if they want or not if they have better to do.
They follow the group because they feel "group" and not because they have been conditioned to stick to me. It feels very natural to move with them and I also communicate my intentions verbally and they seem to understand, which does not mean that they follow me always instantaneously. Often they observe me first and then decide if to follow or not. This depends very much on how much distance will be among us and if they think the place I will go to is better than the one where they are in the moment.
It's not only me who is suggesting directions and speed. Each one of the group can communicate intentions, if the hole group will follow depends on the number that follows.
