So that's what they are doing with their military base on my country. Damn.
Yeah, but it's WAY easier if you start in China.

I see Kibler’s threatening to walk, but he points out that he has the wealth/employability/connections to do so without destroying his career, and that angry fans should not direct their ire at other HS professionals who do not have this luxury. However, think Kripp has a sufficient fan base that he could definitely survive walking, but maybe it would hurt his brand as an implacable, chill guy, because it might come off as histrionic/dramatic. Having said that, he’s also vegan which indicates he’s a principled or conscientious person - whether you agree with being vegan or not, it’s not for lazy/apathetic people as it takes discipline/commitment - so maybe he could take a stand if he felt strongly enough.
One would think a Vegan doesn't like Organ Harvesting
Bro, kripp is literally sponsored by G2A. His priorities have clearly always been “personal livelihood first”. Not ripping on him, it’s his decision to make, just don’t be surprised if you never see him talk about it in any real capacity.

@Sarah Van Ginkle OMEGALUL
Free Tibet
@Sarah Van Ginkle The levels of intelligence you are displaying is dumbfounding.
No.
I certainly never expected that my position in the Hearthstone community would lead to me making a statement on sensitive topics regarding international relations, but I have always viewed my strange place as a public figure in gaming as an opportunity to try to make the world a better place in whatever way I can, so here we are.
Here are the facts as I understand them.
After finishing his final match of the second season of the Asia-Pacific Hearthstone Grandmasters, Hong Kong player Ng “blitzchung” Wai Chung appeared on the official Taiwanese Hearthstone stream for his post-game interview wearing a gas mask. He lifted the mouthpiece and shouted, in Chinese: “Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our age!” - a rallying cry of the ongoing protests in Hong Kong.
On Tuesday, Blizzard announced their ruling, claiming that Blitzchung violated one of the Hearthstone Grandmasters rules against “engaging in any act that, in Blizzard’s sole discretion, brings you into public disrepute, offends a portion or group of the public, or otherwise damages Blizzard image.”
The penalty they imposed was expelling Blitzchung from the Grandmasters league entirely, including retroactively revoking the prize money he had earned throughout the season, and additionally banning him from competing in events for a year. They also announced that they would no longer work with the casters involved in the controversial interview.
I want to start by saying that I feel what Blitzchung did was very brave. He knew that his actions would likely have serious consequences, not just for his future in Hearthstone but possibly even for his personal safety, and I commend him for the fortitude that takes.
Even so, I do think that Blizzard was correct in issuing him a penalty for his actions. They do not want to set the precedent for their official broadcasts being used as political tools. The players agreed to particular rules for behavior, and he violated those rules.
I have seen many descriptions of the situation claim that Blizzard took action against Blitzchung “for his support of the Hong Kong protests”, but that’s not an entirely accurate description. They did not penalize him for his political stance - they penalized him for breaking the rules by using their official broadcast to promote that stance.
Anyone who pays attention to my social media feeds knows that I am not someone who shies away from politics. I am frequently quite vocal about my views about what’s going on in the United States. I have kept a deck titled “Election 2016” in my collection for the past three years, full of cards like Corruption, DOOM, and Validated Doomsayer. I would rather risk alienating those who disagree with me rather than stay silent on matters I consider important.
But when I am on the desk for an official Hearthstone broadcast, I leave those views at home. Maybe I’ll make a subtle snide remark on occasion, but I know that I am representing Blizzard in addition to myself. If I were to close a show with speech about how I feel like Trump should be impeached, I wouldn’t expect to be invited back for future events.
All that having been said, there are additional factors at play here. The punishment meted out to Blitzchung is incredibly harsh. I could understand a fine, or even a short suspension from competitive play, but removal from Grandmasters, clawing back the prizes he already earned, and banning him for a full year seems completely overboard to an extent that feels completely unwarranted and unfair.
I won’t pretend to understand either the intricacies of the geopolitical situation in China and Hong Kong or the full extent of Blizzard’s business interests there, but to me this penalty feels like it is deeply rooted in both. The heavy-handedness of it feels like someone insisted that Blizzard make an example of Blitzchung, not only to discourage others from similar acts in the future but also to appease those upset by the outburst itself.
That kind of appeasement is simply not something I can in good conscience be associated with. When I learned about the ruling, I reached out to Blizzard and informed them that I no longer feel comfortable casting the Grandmasters finals at BlizzCon. I will not be a smiling face on camera that tacitly endorses this decision. Unless something changes, I will have no involvement in Grandmasters moving forward.
However, I want to make clear that not everyone involved in GM has this luxury. Do not take your anger out on the other casters, or streamers, or employees of Blizzard. This is not the kind of decision that comes from the rank and file. Most likely they’re just as angry as you are. I know I am.
Brian Kibler
Why are you posting this here?

@@downnheavy Well said.
@@downnheavy I disagree with this stance. I think spreading the news about blizzard as deep as possible into the Blizzard community is exactly whats needed and any other course of action/inaction is wrong. Blizzard needs to be sent a message at least until there is some form of formal response, and the best way to make that happen is to reach as many unaware Blizzard supporters as possible. I think this takes precedent over saving a you-tubers career which has already been damaged by said events. Your discussion will not affect their well being, and if it pushes them to play other games vs hs, in the long run wouldn't that be better for them?

I haven't been involved with competitive esports Hearthstone for years now, but Hearthstone for me is much more than their esports division and their recent poor decision making. I invite Blizzard to reconsider their position. Sure, they are in the entertainment space, so they want to keep anything that isn’t about Hearthstone out of their official broadcast, but the penalty on Blitzchung and the casters seems just too over the top. That's a pretty dumb take. Kripp's just one man trying to earn a living, he can't switch what he does with a snap of his fingers and still expect to pay the mortgage. "Playing a game" and "supporting Communism" are two wildly different things.
Absolutely stop playing yourself and stop giving them any money or activity sure because it won't harm you, but it would greatly harm Kripp if he did it out of nowhere. He already said on stream he's not happy with Blizzard pulling this shit, but his livelihood is currently tied to Hearthstone p much.
@@KCzz15 There is always an alternative, there is always something better. It is pure bullshit, that he will die if heartstone is gone. So WHAT IF, heartstone really cease to exist? Will krip just die? NO, he will fight. He will do other things to keep living and earn money. That is life. Don't freaking tell me that you actually believe that THIS HEARTSTONES/BLIZZARD game will fund his entire life? NO FREAKING WAY. You really need to think hard and logically about this.
@@acidosis1985
If Hearthstone dies he'll have to change games sure, but he'll also take a big hit in viewership too most likely. Sometimes people have switched from one game to something else or multiple games and found great success, others they've faded into obscurity. It's not even remotely fair to demand that Kripp should have to change what he does for his entire career right now and take that risk just because you don't like something that the company running the game he plays did.
No game or twitch streamer career will last forever, but most twitch streamers know this and do as much as they can while the wheels on the train are still rolling and save up money for that eventuality.

when wasn't aggro decks the best at any given time of HS, blizzard could fix this easily by increasing the hero's starting HP to 35 or 40
They can't... the entire game is balanced around 30. It seems like a relatively meaningless change but its roots run way deeper than you could possibly imagine. The game would be fundamentally broken if they changed the health by more than 2 any direction.
dying by turn 5 is very balanced, yeah 30 hp is made by god can't be the problem.

And to all the people just going against Kripp and complaining he isn't doing enough, you guys are just immature babies. Do you really think that its just as easy for him to quit the game?
The rest of us can quit hearthstone and lose out on playing a game. For Kripp, he'll lose out on a lot of money for him and his family, and his reputation as the top streamer for a game with millions of viewers.
While I would love for Kripp to be able to play different games so his career isn't dependent as much on Hearthstone, that isn't the case right now. Stop acting as though Kripp should make impulsive decisions that can permanently harm his career. The Blitzchung shit is recent, and Kripp has already tweeted about it.
If Kripp wants to transition to different content or take a bit to make a decision on his content going forward, or decide on how much he wants to speak out against HK, that's fine. Stop acting like babies and complaining he hasn't quit the game right after a controversy.

Active player numbers are a boost to their portfolio and improve the game for the paying people by reducing game wait times. Best thing you can do is uninstall and just not touch it, rather than give them numbers to tout to investors.
Gives them player count, which gives their p2p playerbase a more enjoyable experience (shorter queue times). If you don't think that matters try playing ranked in literally any multiplayer game with a dwindling playerbase

imagine giving a darn about something that no one will remember in a month
Why are people soo petty about the Chinese stuff. Blizzard had no choice so they had to do something. The outrage mobs is real but at the wrong target. Maybe go after the actual problem (hint: it's not the Asia branch for hearthstone/blizzard)
No blizzard could have done just nothing. But they decided to actively take a stand against human rights. They are scumbags and there are no excuses for their behaviour.
No choice? Oh, they certainly had a choice: China, or freedom. They had to do something? They shouldn't have done anything. The actual problem? Large corporations supporting the abuses of human rights by totalitarian regimes isn't a problem? Yes, the actual Chinese government is the biggest problem, but groups supporting it are also a problem. People aren't targeting Blizzard exclusively, it is a mere fact that when talking about Hearthstone (which we are since we are watching a Hearthstone video) Blizzard is the main target in this instance.
Tizian K. They definitely couldn't do nothing. There is no way they could set a president that allowed anyone to air any political opinion on their official platforms, they wanted to try to remain neutral. They punished him I the way their contract said it would (although it was much much too severe). My severe issue with the situation was the Chinese branch of blizzard saying that he was only punished because of, effectively, a "national pride" issue. The part of blizzard that instigated the ban was simply making a statement for their intention to remain separate from these issues. There really is a time and a place for making a statement, and using a tournament, likely watched by a large audience of children is not it.
A very similar event happened over the summer in Rugby Union, where a player called Isreal Falau was fired because he used his position as a professional rugby player to further his deeply Christian views, which included some very homophobic remarks. This was in breach of his contract, and to save the World Cup (happening right now) from being mired in this controversy, he was fired.
This is a very similar issue, but one where the protestor is voicing a concern that is completely correct (in my opinion. What is happening in Hong Kong is NOT ok). So, for me, the issue lies with the Chinese branch that made it extremely political, not with the devs over here that are probably just gamers trying to make a great game. You can call me a "fan boy" if you want, or whatever you want, but that is what I believe was the rational behind Blizzard.
The main problem with this is that we know from past experience that Blizzard isn't neutral, they want that sweet, sweet Yuan. The fact that they are willing to bow to China's every whim is the problem. While I agree that a sports tournament is not the greatest place to present your political opinion, that doesn't mean that Blizzard shouldn't be taken to task for this. Blizzard has, through their actions, demonstrated that they don't care about human rights, freedom, or anything other than money. Diablo Immortal: all about Chinese money. Hearthstone card art changes: all about Chinese money. There is no way this isn't about Chinese money.
If that guy had said something about Trump, do you think Blizzard would have done anything? I doubt it, because saying things about Trump is a normal thing, if anything it would make Blizzard more money by gathering attention. It seems to me that this was merely an attempt to save face for China, they didn't really care about the fact that it had violated their contract. I think that this is made most obvious by their statement that "Upon FURTHER review we have found the action has violated..." this implies that they had already deleted the VoD, and then looked for justification for it.
Maybe I'm wrong about the specifics, but what Blizzard has done is seriously fucked. Maybe not as bad as I currently think, but it is wrong, and anybody should decry this. I don't care if you still play their games, they are fun. I don't care if you still want Warcraft 3, it's a good game. But if you think that Blizzard is okay, I think you are wrong.
The choice was not easy or realistic in the slightest. They wont stand up to a government that has rules (that blizzard agrees with before entering the chinese market). So you have to operate by them when you are performing tourneys in their country. The Chinese part has nothing to do with our constitution because they literally follow NONE of our laws. They did over react by trying to make a point but it was likely the only way Blizzard would be able to continue to operate in their biggest market. NO COMPANY would 100% turn their back on their biggest supporter because they want to influence democracy(our ideals) in a communist country(into their ideals). How many companies would? Many companies and institutions have done much, much worse than blizzard but everyone still 100% supports them.
China has to change from the inside and thats the real world. Could they have taken a stand and lost the whole Asian market? Yes They could've. But why would they? Most people in our country hate blizzard and do not support them in the first place. It's literally like losing over half of your profits over something that's not related to the game and shouldn't be broadcast in any of the games content
This is hearthstone not ww3.
Support Hong Kong.
Kripp bows to Chinese fascists.
Can't play and support this game anymore
Well guys and kripp... I am quitting hearthstone forever or at least until Blizzard gains some morality. It’s been fun, and I saw and kept up with many of your videos but I can’t morally support Blizzard after what they did. I love you guys, keep enjoying life and live long.
