I recently bought the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Moist Cream, and I absolutely agree with everything you said! My skin leans dry, especially since I'm on tretinoin, and it's been a game changer to help keep my skin barrier intact. Lightweight and very hydrating, while still having "presence" as you said. Such a pleasure to use and fragrance-free too. I love that it's in a squeeze tube and not a jar. I plan to buy more when my current tube runs out. Thank you so much for this video! I'll definitely check out your other recommendations, Dr. Ellis :)
I think the amount of steps also depend of how much issue your skin have. I suffer from sebderm, « fungal acne », rosacea, have a dry and very sensitive skin and damaged skin barrier, I can assure you my skin needs more than a 3 steps post cleansing 😭 Minimalism is not doing it for my skin, I have been layerin 10 years before hearing about 10 steps Korean routine.
I have been loving the CosRX Propolis toner and ampoule. I love the glow they give. Using the toner in my AM routine and usually the ampoule at night as an added hydration- Ohio Winter is starting
I absolutely love Stylevana! I hated sunscreens on my face as they always burned, turned my face purple and broke my skin out. I have wasted so very much money trying out every sunscreen out there... That is until I found Stylevana and the Beauty of Joeson sunscreen. It has been a blessing to me. I now can apply it every single day. I slather it on my face with no irritation! It is like a moisturizer. I feels nice and looks nice. I also want to tell you that I love, love, love your line of products! Thank you for everything that you do for us.
I bought the numbuzin No. 3 Super Glowing Essence Toner is April thinking I had been overly influenced by an influencer. However, it has become my favorite product and I use it in the morning and at night, around my eyes and on the back of my hands (I put the same serums, moisturizer and sunscreen I use on my face on my hands ).
I LOVE that Skin 1004 SPF! It feels hydrating but light and my favorite thing is that once it dries down my skin feels bare, not tacky or slimy the way some sunscreens can leave my face feeling. Excited to try some of these new-to-me recommendations - thank you!
Personally I don't think there's a better sunscreen out there!! I just wish it weren't loaded with hyaluronic acid. My skin hates HA but I still love it because it's so lightweight and doesn't burn my eyes, which is unheard of! Every other sunscreen I've tried, whether American, Korean, French, Australian, Japanese, etc. burns my eyes but this one doesn't at all.
i bought the Numbuzin toner. I use a retinal and, in the morning, that is the first thing I put on. I then follow the with the Tirtir toner , I put on about 5 more moisturizers. I live in an arid climate and have dry skin. The Numbuzin toner was on the Sprng sale on Amazon, so I stocked up.
I love the beauty of Joseon sunscreen. It's so light and luxurious feeling. I'm definitely going to have to try some of these other products to mention in this video. Thank you so much Dr. Ellis
My morning routine is Curology gentle cleanser, Inkey List EGF Vitamin C serum, Purito Dermide barrier cream, and finish with Isntree hyaluronic acid watery sunscreen. Takes me 5 minutes at most and my skin likes it.
Just wanted to say THANK YOU! I ordered these items a month ago. They finally arrived and I did this routine this morning and it is fantastic! And, so affordable!!! Love.
I am using the Numbuzin toner/essence and like it-it does leave your skin glowy but it does have a strong perfumed fragrance which usually bothers my eyes but this one doesn't do that. Maybe the fragrance is better than the 50 ferments? I am also using the P. Calm Water Barrier Sun Cream and I love it even more than Beauty of Joseon.
I am nor currently using any korean skincare, but love the Rohto Melano CC that is japanese and sold in Stylevana. And I agree with you on Isntree moisturizer it is sooo good! I’ve used it a couple years ago and was wondering why no one was raving about it. Very affordable as well, the bottle is quite big 🧴
I LOOOVVVEE the numbuzin no.3 toner too!!🥰🥰 It does have a citrusy fragrance but I saw from a diff youtuber that it's not artificially fragranced but from the fermented ingredients so i'm all good with that! plus i'm on my 4th bottle but my skin still absolutely loves it soo much💗 I really like the skin1004 spf too!
Discount code worked but not exactly 24% but still good. I was just about to purchase sunscreens from Stylevana and saw this video with more suggestions on their products. Thank you. Love all your videos. Love my skin. So happy ❤
❤ Prequel cleanser. I don’t even feel like I have to double cleanse and it’s so moisturizing! ❤ Korean and Japanese sunscreens! They do not upset my Rosacea or Melasma. I saw somewhere an interview with the person who came up with the 10 step Korean skincare. They said it was not meant to be 10 steps that the 10 steps were the options available and you would choose the things that were right for your skin.
Hi Dr. Ellis, thanks for your informative video! So glad that you also love the Numbuzin essence toner!! My skin feels so much better and I have seen my skin clear up already. And now I think I need to try the Haruharu cleanser as well. 😉
That Numbuzin no 3 toner is very very perfume-like though. I wish you mentioned fragrance aspect of it in your review. I was so excited to buy it and was so disappointed when opened and was hit in the face with strong scent. I do not mind mild scents in my skin care, but this was really too much. I guess people have different scent-tolerance levels. But I wish someone would have mentioned it. I still used it up, but I did not enjoy it. Was glad when I could throw away the bottle finally. Cosrx BHA powerliquid - love that product!
If you're interested in a Numbuzin brand review, AliceintheRabbitHole has one and she good about putting up the ingredient lists and mentioning if something has fragrance.
@@db-gb5xi I already follow her channel :) yes, she does mention when product is scented. I find that so important aspect about a product, I wish everyone would describe it as part of the reviews. I do not have allergy or anything. But I do often find strong fragrances just unpleasant and they do cause me headaches sometimes. When that aspect is not mentioned in review, I often think - oh, that must be fragrance free. And the bigger the disappointment when I open the product.
It's so funny to me how different people are so...different! I love for my skincare to have fragrance. I'm not sensitive to most fragrances, so if I have a choice between fragrance-free or something with some yummy scent, I will choose the scented version 98% of the time. It's just what I like in my skincare, so I don't even pay much attention to it. Dr. Sam probably didn't even realize it had a scent that would translate as so strong to some - it obviously doesn't bother her 6 she probably just recommends it as a good product. Thanks for the reminder that not all of us like fragrance - it will make me more mindful when recommending products to friends. What I may feel is "boring" because it has no scent could be appreciated for that same fragrance-free formulation by someone else. Hi! I love k beauty. I use beauty of josean , medipeel , I'm from , skin 1004, and many more. I study what ingredients I need. Then narrow down the brands.
Dr Ellis, I have just started using the Triple AHA version of the Haru Haru Wonder cleanser that you are using. I really enjoy the gel texture and gentle exfoilating effects of the product. I was able to notice some brightening after a week of using the product!
Thank you, Dr. Ellis!! I love that sunscreen sooo much. It is truly the only sunscreen I've ever tried that doesn't irritate my eyes! And it's so lightweight. Do you have any thoughts about what Dr. Shereene Idriss thinks about hyaluronic acid being irritating to the skin and possibly triggering inflammation because she says low molecular weight hyaluronic acid is released in your skin's own inflammatory response? @MyBrooklynWay Obviously! I'm not taking it literally at all. I'm just wanting to hear another professional's take on this particular issue. I don't mind at all if she doesn't have time to answer this question. I've asked a couple of friends who are doing their derm residencies, and they honestly didn't know. My dermatologist is booked out two years into the future and I know her well enough to know she would not answer such a random and subjective question. So I thought I would ask while I'm trying to find a new dermatologist.
Hi Dr. Ellis! I never had a break out, I don't use moisturizer before. I only cleanse and then sunscreen. And whatever I applied on my face before didn't do any irritation. But lately I wanted to start having a skincare routine so I purchased different kbeauty products. My mistake for applying all the new products together instead of letting my skin adapt to them one by one. Now I have these clogged pores and every morning my acne gets worse. I stopped using all the products but I'm still getting breakouts, what should I do?
I have tried both Beauty of Joseon and CosRx products this year from Stylevana. My CosRx essence is the one that is the dupe for SKII essence. It is called COSRX Galactomyces 95 Toner. Bought Purito sunscreens too, but have given them away to family and friends.
Hi, thank you for sharing this information. I’ve been hearing so much about Korean skin care. Currently I’m not using any. I’m pretty satisfied with my DRMTLGY products, but in the future I might consider. I do love a moisturizer combined with an SPF. Is there a Korean brand you can recommend ? I too like to simplify my routine as well. Thank you, Dr. Ellis.
I absolutely ADORE that sunscreen, my favorite ever!!! Just bought a pack of 4 of it on Stylevana, and now I want to buy every product you showed here 😪
Do you like Beauty Of Joseon?? I'm waiting for my Stylevana delivery to try it for the first time. I bought the Radiance Cleansing Balm, Revive Serum : Ginseng + Snail Mucin, Revive Eye Serum : Ginseng + Retinal & Dynasty Cream.... Later on I'm going to try one of their toners & a vitamin c.... Maybe also a different serum & choose which of the 2 I prefer.
Also one of their sunscreens.... I have heaps of the La Roche Posay to finish first. I'm only going to try Beauty Of Joseon sunscreen to see how my skin reacts because I am in Australia so the sun is very different here to in Korea.
After watching this video for the first time a month ago I was very excited to try several of the products you mentioned here. I promptly got online and placed an order. It’s been one month and I still have not received the order. I have reached out several times to get an update and they were not able to provide anything more than basically “we are working on it”. Not sure if this is normal for Stylevana or maybe just because of the holidays but I have to say I’m extremely disappointed in their customer service and the overall experience shopping with them! Is there any other site to buy these products that I might have better luck with? Anyone else experienced the same issue with Stylevana?
I am absolutely no Dr Sam, but I use them together in the morning. Then, at night, I use my copper peptides and my Retin A. I don't have any problems using them together - if you have more sensitive skin, then I would start introducing them together slowly. But I don't think there is any real "need" to do that. Again, I am not a derm, just love packing as many good-for-me serums, moisturizers and things together as I safely can. ❤
I came back to the video to thank you for the amazing sunscreen recommendation. I’ve been looking for a good sunscreen that pairs well with my skin for a while now and this one is just amazing!!! 🌷🌷🌷
Dr Ellis , in which step do you use your vitamin C? i have started using the Numbuzin essence followed by the snail mucin by Corsx and then my vitamin C in the morning, I find on some days I get redness? How can I incorporate snail mucin without irritation?🥰🥰😍😍
so im a fair skin redhead and i just found out that my "breakouts" are actually rosacea from my dermatologist. I was using scinic sunscreen. She told me to only use mineral sunblocks. She also gave me a script for the rosacea to be used in the mornings. Being a dermatologist with rocacea, do you use a prescription gel in your routine?
Hi Dr. Ellis, great video! I’ve been loving beauty of Joseon sunscreens but I also recently discovered hamél vegan aqua glow sun serum (also Korean 😉). I’m sure there’s not a ton of sunscreen in the packaging but it’s super cute. Reminds me of the chanel egg-shaped hand cream. Very cute and I love the formula. Feels cosmetically elegant. Been keeping it in my purse. I also love your skincare line and can’t wait to see what you have coming next!
For a chemical sunscreen I really like Haruharu Wonder. I wonder how it compares to the one you recommend in this video. They seem like they’d be similar. Has anyone tried both?
Is there any chance that the Centella sunscreen could cause dry eyes? I'm trying to find the cause of my dry eyes...I don't think it's this, but I just thought I'd ask!
2:35 I’m just confused because in another video of yours I just watched you said you should do the water cleanser prior to the oil cleanser… Your reasoning was that doing the oil cleanser first would create a barrier and not allow the water cleanser to work properly…
I've recently discovered your channel and love it. I've started my skin care routine. I have question in terms of when to use Vitamin C and retinoid in this routine?
I hate Stylevana shipping time that's why I don't order from them anymore, I enjoy going to the store and getting my products there without wondering when my order will arrive.
I’m so glad to see this comment, I have been waiting for a month now to get the order I purchased after watching this video. Don’t think I’ll be ordering from them again
Does anyone have recommendations for a tinted Korean sunscreen? I have a lot of pigmentation and feel the tint works better for me. Thanks Dr. Ellis and anyone reading this.
Hi Dr. Ellis, I know I already commented on this video, but I had a question. I know accutane has been used to help with rosacea, but based on my research I think I may have developed acne rosacea while I was on accutane, and now that I have been off accutane for almost a year, it is getting worse. Is it possible for the dryness that accutane causes to trigger rosacea? I also have severe keratosis pilaris and also body acne now, none of which I had ever had before I took accutane. My cystic acne is gone, which is amazing, but now I have all these new skin issues that are almost worse in combination with my severe atopic dermatitis. I am a Fitzpatrick IV skin type, so I never really thought someone with my skin type could get rosacea until I did some more research on it. My dermatologist kept telling me the red bumps on my cheeks and nose were retinoid dermatitis from the accutane, but I've been off isotretinoin for a year now. Anything that is at all irritating to my skin (which is just about everything now even though I am avoiding the literal dozens of skin care ingredients I'm actually allergic to per patch testing) makes the papules and pustules on my cheeks and nose increase in size and resemble acne. When it is better controlled (Naturium's sulfur spot treatment seems to help,) it looks like I have contact dermatitis on my face, especially my cheeks, at all times. It has been that way for a year and a half now. Unfortunately my dermatologist is literally booking out into 2025, and so I haven't been able to see her in the 9 months since I finished taking accutane. I can't find another dermatologist that has an open appointment until January. Do you know if it's possible for accutane to trigger other skin conditions like rosacea or KP?
Im sorry if this’s a bit off topic but since you mentioned the fav Korean products video- would you say the Purito moisturizer is too heavy for morning if you dont have dry skin?To me this’s one of the most controversial products. Ppl either say its perfect, or too heavy/light. Idk what to think, how does it compare to the moist cream you’re using?!
Ah I feel like what feels “heavy” is kind of subjective and I also think it depends what sunscreen you plan to layer on top! I use this isntree one or the Purito one in the morning if I’m following it with a lightweight sunscreen. If I was using a thicker sunscreen I might skip it!
@talaaa2897 I use the Purito dermide balancing barrier cream in the morning during winter. I do have combo skin, sometimes totally oily and sometimes super dry but my skin loves it. I work from home so I wouldnt use this in the morning if I was putting on makeup and going to an office all day because for me it does leave a nice not sticky but moist barrier of cream as it says on my skin for several hours so I do not have a quick dry down of it on my skin. Hope that help!
I don't have dry skin and personally I find it's too light! It feels to the touch like it might be heavy, and the ingredients are fantastic, but I experienced dry and tight skin every time I used it, and I used it for a long time. It didn't matter whether I used it in the morning or at night. My skin always felt uncomfortably dry with that moisturizer. I used it before and after using Accutane. I had incredibly oily skin before Accutane, but since using Accutane I now have normal, but not dry skin, and that moisturizer made my skin feel dry and tight both when my skin was very oily and now that it's more normal. The only other moisturizer that has ever made my skin feel dry and tight was the cos rx snail mucin moisturizer, which I hated so much because it actually dried out my skin and made it peel even though I'm not allergic to any of its ingredients. I never would've expected the Purito one to do something similar with all of its hydrating and skin-soothing ingredients, but unfortunately it did. Usually I love moisturizers with meadowfoam seed oil, panthenol, ceramides, allantoin, etc. like the Purito one has in it. When I first bought it, it felt like an amazing find with all those ingredients and based on its size. But I use it as a hand cream now because it just didn't work for my face.
Starting in Korean skincare!! Do we wash our face with water between some of the products or do we just wait for each one to be absorbed and then move to the next one?
@@rumncoke_ Thanks. I got a bit confused, because I hear a lot different instructions. Because some people say to wash in between if a product says that you need to remove it by water. Is that true?
It’s done but I personally try to minimize systemic medications if not medically indicated. I think topical retinoids are sufficient, especially since accutane dosed this way over a long period of time isn’t well-studied.
I had been eyeing that Numbuzin essence toner, but now that you say it has fermented ingredients, I'll give it a pass. I'm pretty sure those ingredients cause my skin to peel and burn like nothing else! I used the Secret Key rose essence every morning for a week about a year ago, and the peeling around my nose and chin was apocalyptic 😅
Actually I’m afraid due to niacinamide being so high on the list! I realized that with my rosacea, niacinamide at high concentrations burns my skin :/ That may also be a potential irritant….

My dermatologist is booked out two years into the future and I know her well enough to know she would not answer such a random and subjective question. So I thought I would ask while I'm trying to find a new dermatologist.
Love this sunscreen. On my third bottle. Have toner too. 😊
Hi Dr.
Since the Cosrx BHA Liquid is so much more gentle than your regular Salycylic Acid products, how often can it be used in the week?
I have tried both Beauty of Joseon and CosRx products this year from Stylevana. My CosRx essence is the one that is the dupe for SKII essence. It is called COSRX Galactomyces 95 Toner. Bought Purito sunscreens too, but have given them away to family and friends.
How does the Numbuzin toner compare to the SK II?
Hi, thank you for sharing this information. I’ve been hearing so much about Korean skin care. Currently I’m not using any. I’m pretty satisfied with my DRMTLGY products, but in the future I might consider. I do love a moisturizer combined with an SPF. Is there a Korean brand you can recommend ? I too like to simplify my routine as well. Thank you, Dr. Ellis.
I absolutely ADORE that sunscreen, my favorite ever!!! Just bought a pack of 4 of it on Stylevana, and now I want to buy every product you showed here 😪
Beauty of josean sunscreen and evy technology sunscreen is always in my bathroom!
Mine, too! Evy is the king of sunscreens 🙂
I’ve been using Saranghae 5-step Korean skincare for years. Love it. Interested in exploring other Korean products.
If using the BHA blackhead power toner, would you suggest avoiding a vitamin C serum in the same routine?
After watching this video for the first time a month ago I was very excited to try several of the products you mentioned here. I promptly got online and placed an order. It’s been one month and I still have not received the order. I have reached out several times to get an update and they were not able to provide anything more than basically “we are working on it”. Not sure if this is normal for Stylevana or maybe just because of the holidays but I have to say I’m extremely disappointed in their customer service and the overall experience shopping with them! Is there any other site to buy these products that I might have better luck with? Anyone else experienced the same issue with Stylevana?
Hi, thank you for the video! What is your opinion on vitamin C and Cooper peptide? Can you use them both?
I am absolutely no Dr Sam, but I use them together in the morning. Then, at night, I use my copper peptides and my Retin A. I don't have any problems using them together - if you have more sensitive skin, then I would start introducing them together slowly. But I don't think there is any real "need" to do that. Again, I am not a derm, just love packing as many good-for-me serums, moisturizers and things together as I safely can. ❤
Thanks. I am not worry about sensitivity, I am more about the two of them canceling each other. I couldn’t find any real/doctor/research on this
I came back to the video to thank you for the amazing sunscreen recommendation.
Can I use Tretinoin when breastfeeding? And when planning to receive?
I absolutely loved this routine. Definitely will try it out✨🫶🏼
My only complaint are the tiny size of the bottles of good sunscreen...I live in Texas and I have solar urticaria, so I need a lot of sunscreen!
so im a fair skin redhead and i just found out that my "breakouts" are actually rosacea from my dermatologist. I was using scinic sunscreen. She told me to only use mineral sunblocks. She also gave me a script for the rosacea to be used in the mornings. Being a dermatologist with rocacea, do you use a prescription gel in your routine?
Hi, love your videos. I too ordered the essence toner and love it. Would a male also follow the same skincare routine?
Dr. Ellis
How do you feel about French skincare ?
Favorite SUNSCREEN
Dermaquest Sun Armor SPF 50
I love peach and lily, cos rx, and glamfox.
Do you have a 5 step night routine with K beauty or Japanese products??
Hey Dr Sam, how’s your experience with the shipping of Stylevana? I haven’t heard good things about it from comments.
This was a great video……thanks for introducing me to these products.
Any really good tinted Korean sunscreens?
I’ve used the missha bb cream for years.
For a chemical sunscreen I really like Haruharu Wonder. I wonder how it compares to the one you recommend in this video. They seem like they’d be similar. Has anyone tried both?
I love love that sunscreen❤
can you use a Vit c with an exfoliant?
Can I ask where one would fit in a Vit C serum to that routine please? Would the Vit C still work as well with all the layering beforehand? Thanks
Is there any chance that the Centella sunscreen could cause dry eyes? I'm trying to find the cause of my dry eyes...I don't think it's this, but I just thought I'd ask!
is nambuzin no3 toner suitable for seborrheic dermatitis?
and do you recommend any products for it
Great video. Headband link please!
Do you @drsamellis layer on makeup after the sunscreen and will it disturb the sunscreen efficacy?
❤❤❤❤ love this skincare morning routine.
Do you have a favorite heavy thick lasting moisturizer or pile of products for dry mature skin, at this website? I’m open to hearing fan faves!
2:35 I’m just confused because in another video of yours I just watched you said you should do the water cleanser prior to the oil cleanser… Your reasoning was that doing the oil cleanser first would create a barrier and not allow the water cleanser to work properly…
How do you feel about using acetone as a skin toner?
I've recently discovered your channel and love it. I've started my skin care routine. I have question in terms of when to use Vitamin C and retinoid in this routine?
Would I use skinceuticals Vit c or numbizen no 3 serum first?
I love Aqua Korean sunscreen and House of Joseon.
Glad someone commented about it. Has anyone try YesStyle?
Do you have a video with your favorite eye creams that actually work? 😍
Does anyone have recommendations for a tinted Korean sunscreen? I have a lot of pigmentation and feel the tint works better for me. Thanks Dr. Ellis and anyone reading this.
Skin1004 has one.
Maybe try the one from Numbuzin. It’s their tone up cream I think.
Thank you and kind of you to reply. @@Rubye269
I’ve used the missha bb cream for years.
The purito bb cream is really good!
Is this skin care good for mature skin
What about vitamin C?
Hey doc, my 3 year old has put his unclean fingers in my vaseline jar, should I toss it away? ( the jar)
lol! (the jar) heheheh
How do you apply sunscreen on ear and which sunscreen
Where’s your headband from!? so cute 😍
Hi dr sam ellis loving your videos have a fabulous week 😊 xx
Could you film a drem reacts video all about Burts and Bee’s skincare?
I do want to try your skincare line, especially the urea cream. Do you ship to the UK?
Aw thank you! We’re hoping to bring Prequel internationally in the future but right now it’s only available in the US
Where did you get the headband?
Mem order kese kre bataye mem
What step would an ampoule be?
You're gorgeous! Great routine tips.
I just tried it and the code to get the free sunscreen kit does not work
Im sorry if this’s a bit off topic but since you mentioned the fav Korean products video- would you say the Purito moisturizer is too heavy for morning if you dont have dry skin?To me this’s one of the most controversial products.
@@corinnegunter3889 oh i see, thank you soo much for all of that! It did help alot, you folks in the comments are so informative !!
@@DrSamEllis Dr you are so right, i like watery sunscreen so i like my moisturizer to be alight cream texture! This makes so much sense, thank you!
I have a question for you. Does a facial moisturizer usually have heat when we are done putting it on?
That sounds like it's irritating your skin if it makes your skin feel warm after you put it on
@@malinia.20 thank you
do you do online consultations?
Starting in Korean skincare!!
Do we wash our face with water between some of the products or do we just wait for each one to be absorbed and then move to the next one?
No washing in between. Just wait for the products to get absorbed
@@rumncoke_ Thanks. I got a bit confused, because I hear a lot different instructions. Because some people say to wash in between if a product says that you need to remove it by water. Is that true?
@@ntinagon.5742 the only products that need washing after are cleansers and sometimes masks.
Question, could you please talk a little about micro-doseing accutane for clear skin and anti-aging, even if u dont have much acne etc?
It’s done but I personally try to minimize systemic medications if not medically indicated. I think topical retinoids are sufficient, especially since accutane dosed this way over a long period of time isn’t well-studied.
You know you’re from California when you make sure to include Northern or Southern.
Has anyone found COSRX Snail Mucin causes dry patches. Our humidity is less than 45% and I think the HA sucks the moisture out of my skin.
