Love this one. Managed to pick up the previous edition in the ~15 minutes it was available on BGG. Of all my weird trick-takers, this is the one that gets people most interested from the one-line pitch. Glad to see the 2p rules
Two months after ordering this game, it finally arrived on Saturday, but man was it worth the wait!! I absolutely love Cat in the Box, I'm sure my friends are sick of me constantly yapping about it, and I'm almost dragging total strangers in of the street, just to get another few games! What about a playthrough you guys? You could get a few of your friends over, invite me(!!!)... I'll fly across the Atlantic for a game, or play a two player game , which I've never seen yet.
this was really helpful thank you so much! i just got this game and i had worked out the general premise of it but this helped me get my head around the details
Loved the tutorial and went directly to Bezier at Spiel!22. Since I was just in time to get a copy I am replaying your review again. Just a pity that I did not see you both at Spiel! because I really wanted to say Hi.
Wow! Finally a good explanation of 'trick taking'. I'm French and have no clue about this because we do not have a term this specific for it. A trick is only a magic card trick when it comes to cards in French. Only ever heard 'rounds', 'play your card' and such non-specific terms so this was helpful since this term gets thrown around but rarely shown what it actually means. You should definitely add a 'trick taking' tag to your video!
Apparently the words ''pli" and "levée" are used. Not French myself though, so not sure. The French Wikipedia's equivalent page to 'Trick-taking game' is 'Jeu de levées'.
Love this game. Putting in an order for an extra possibly to give as a gift to a fellow gamer but most likely as a backup in case the first one blows a circuit. Lol
I’ve been looking for this one for a while. So cool that you made this how to play video. I just don’t know how to get the game, as Bezier’s shop won’t ship where I live…
Oh, I've set my eyes on that one - thanks for the great overview (as all your videos)! 😊✌️ And what a weird game - I really need to keep an eye on it since this could be something I'd like. 😅
Did you guys like the game? Would you recommend it for 2 players? Your two player suggestion for Cabo is one of my favorite games now. Thank you for what you do.
Hi! We don't publish our opinions on sponsored content, so sorry! However, the 2-P game will feel naturally different from higher player counts just due to the nature of trick-taking games in general. Thanks so much for watching and we're glad you are enjoying Cabo!
@@BeforeYouPlay totally understand and agree with not having an opinion on paid content. Respect. You guys are the best and I am so thrilled you took the first step going full time into content creation. You deserve every success! The hustle and dedication shows.
A super video explaining a super game! I haven't got mine just yet, but it's on order and I'm eagerly awaiting delivery. You guys did a superb job (as always) of explaining it, but I'm curious if you know did Sheldon Cooper have anything to do with the design of this game? 😂
hello, what happen if I cant place the token to experiment board?, for example if my 5 tokens are placed in player board and my 7 tokens are placed in the experiment board and I need 1 token to play the last trick, for 4 players
I can be sure that no player who loves both cats and board games can say no to this game. Especially cat-shaped trays for your player tokens are especially beautiful and cute, which can bring players a pleasant gaming experience.😆
Small addition to the 2 player rules about the three cards that get revealed to decide the blocked off green numbers: "If a duplicate number is revealed, placed an unused player token on both the green and yellow rows of that number. If all three cards are the same number, place an unused player token on the green, yellow, and blue rows of that number".
To clarify, what happens if you’re ineligible to play yellow and say Naveen leads yellow? Would you cause a paradox instantly or would you be allowed to/forced to play to some other color?
You're always allowed to play a different color, at the expense of never playing the lead color again. If you previously said you don't have yellow, then you just still don't have it. You only cause a paradox if none of your *numbers* can be played in colors you're still allowed to use
This game was simultaneously good _and_ bad until I observed your video. 😼 I first saw this game on Taylor's Trick-Taking Table a while back. I'm excited that it's coming to the US! It really has a lot of twists (quantum entanglements?) to wrap your head around, but your tutorial made it seem manageable. Thanks!
Most clear explanation of how this game is played, thank you.
Glad it helped!
Great overview!
Thank you so much for your generosity! We truly appreciate it!
This was SO helpful to visualize the differences in 2 player rules and to note the special conditions for bonus points 😁.
Very clever idea for a trick taking game which I suspect will be a big hit with card playing physics majors around the world.

Yeah! We were like “what the heck” when we were told you get to make up whatever suit you want lol.
Frankly more games should have rules that you can preface with "Because of quantum"
Fantastic tutorial, thank you! I'm definitely getting this one, perfect for my family and with the extra twist to keep me interested.

i got my copy yesterday! this will definitely be a staple in the next session with my friends 😍
Bought the game after the vid, thanks!

This has hopped dang near to the top of my list of games to snag at Gen con and after watching this video I am extra hyped!!

Love trick taking games - this looks super intriguing.
Thanks for checking it out Terry!

I agree. This is an amazingly clear explanation of both trick taking and how cat-in-the-box adds to it.

Excited for this one. I love Trick taking games!
We are always so surprised how many exist in the genre!

Such a clever design! Thank you for this informative tutorial. Can’t wait to to get the game at Essen Spiel.
Oh this has been on our radar! Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
An interesting game. Great video, always nice to see you to explane a game.
Thank you very much!!
Got this for Christmas. This was a great help, thanks so much! Oh and Happy New Year to you both!
Thank you! Glad we could help! Happy New Year =)

Ahhh sorry to hear about the lack of shipping currently. It'll have a wider release soon though. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for the clarifications. There are a few places in the rules where I think they failed to make things clear.
Glad it was helpful!
Oh, I've set my eyes on that one - thanks for the great overview (as all your videos)! 😊✌️
And what a weird game - I really need to keep an eye on it since this could be something I'd like. 😅
Yes, it is quite different! Thanks so much for watching
What a genius design around trick taking. Can't wait to get my hands on this!

I saw this cat for Bezier's pin bazaar at Gen Con and I was wondering what the game was! Looks super cute.

Great tutorial! Question, in a 2 players game, if a player create a paradox and have fewer than 4 tricks, does he gain bonus points?
No bonus points if you create a paradox
To clarify, what happens if you’re ineligible to play yellow and say Naveen leads yellow? Would you cause a paradox instantly or would you be allowed to/forced to play to some other color?
You're always allowed to play a different color, at the expense of never playing the lead color again. If you previously said you don't have yellow, then you just still don't have it. You only cause a paradox if none of your *numbers* can be played in colors you're still allowed to use
Thomas is absolutely right. Please let us know if there are any other questions.
You treat it like a normal trick-taking game where you've got no cards of a certain colour, you have to play a card from a different colour.
How do you keep track of the points? Is there a scoring track or scoring tokens?
There is a scoring pad in the box.
Noice tutorial
If you make your prediction but none of your tokens on the research board are adjacent to each other do you get one bonus point or no bonus points?
You get 1 bonus point, as 1 is your largest 'group'
Do you still discard a card in 2 players?
Wow, so interesting

Glad the video helped showcase the game Jon! Should be widely available soon 😀.
Did you like the game?
So it's "Get In Get Out" but more steps and colors instead of suits...
I have just ordered the game! I need to stop watching your videos…
LOL, we hope you enjoy it!
Can we retire the term "trump card"? A part of me recoils in disgust everytime I hear it.
Oh we definitely hear you on that one!
