The message in the video is good, but for me personally it just made me a little angry and frustrated because in my opinion at the end of the day this message isn't going to solve anything and is just trying to hold onto false hope that something will change, so for me I wouldn't want to see these little messages (and opinions) again since I'm here for entertainment, but it's fine if you keep doing it, it is a good message after all.
For clarity on the Shop Lifting segment: The vast majority of stores make it so that, should the employee attempt to physically stop people from stealing, they have a very high chance of being disciplined or fired to avoid any legal issues. That's why a large chunk of them, at least in the US, also fire employees if they attempt to physically defend themselves from assault.
Yeah its also not worth it. Where I live a store owner was killed for trying to stop some teens for stealing. A employee of another store was puncture with a needle that had blood in it. Apparently the shoplifter had HIV although I cannot confirm if the person contracted hiv or not. So I personally did not try to stop then I would just tell then we were gonna call the police
Bail is for people who have just been arrested and are being charged with a crime. You get held in a jail and need to put up money as collateral to be released, to be bailed out. If they were released from prison, you are very far past bail being a thing. Prisoners don't get bail. Removing bail means anyone, regardless of the crime they're being charged with, would be able to walk out of the jail before the cops are done filing the paperwork. This did lead to more crimes, and "bail reforms" still do. Because it's essentially impossible to keep criminals in a jail until trial, they're free to go and commit more crimes, and many do.
It's honestly crazy how looking back the Virus times felt like such a blur. Maybe beacause I was stuck indoors in a loop for almost an entire year yet I can't really remember anything about it
For us Swedes it was just a weird time in general since we never locked down, used masks or anything. Looking at foreign news was like watching a scifi horror movie or something. I remember sitting in the pub, having a pint while news were rolling in from central Europe and the USA with footage of entire cities being empty. Looked scary.
@@reduwu7602 Sweden relied more on voluntary measures rather than involuntary measures. You can see a study on the topic by searching "Comparing the responses of the UK, Sweden and Denmark to COVID-19 using counterfactual modelling" in google.
14:04 assault was still illegal back then and unmasking can be spun as assault. There was a lot of incidents in that 2 year period where doing nothing to a criminal was better anything, because they would get away and you'd be charged
14:00 "try and unmask them" why would they do that, so they can get hit with an assault case? since the stealing was not seen as a problem by the police they would probably arrest you for trying to stop them especially if it caused a fight. so when these people have nothing they can do and are forced towatch injustices be commited knowing that they will faces no consequences they get frustrated and yell at them cus what else can they do?
14:07 and then they'd get done for assault or something. Trust me, a lot of good samaritans want to help and be the hero but are stopped because the law.
5:40 It was a video from around the time of all the 'Nurses on Tictoc dancing' craze was happening. Something about raising moral while being swamped due to the varus or something.

33:24 Because Bars of soap are somewhat less sanitised than liquid soap. Due to it being more in contact with our hands and exposed to the air, rather than liquid soap being inside a container.

It is admirable and good that you did research on the prison release stuff, and I did learn a lot from that. However, releasing prisoners was not what IH was talking about. He was referring to people who were being arrested and then given 0$ bail, these were not prisoners yet, they weren't even convicted in a court of law yet. So someone could commit a crime and then be out on bail the same day while they wait for their court date. Also, I do agree with your overall point about life being boring and that's a good thing.
Not just going to lakes, Canadians would get arrested for taking their dogs out for a walk, mask or not. It was BAD, and the general populace had no problem with it.
The panini in Australia was wild, the speed and ease at which our government went from democratic to complete totalitarianism was wild. Nearly overnight you had police patrolling streets with drones and helicopters with crippling fines and prison time, suppression of protests with force, concentration camps, and forcing everyone to scan QR codes and GPS tracking of citizens, it was a complete mask off moment.
Hearing you say PANINI over and over and over is peak adorableness :) Had to work through the Panini with Nightshifts and driving was so chill back then :)

Important caveat on “crime rates went through the roof”: the US crime rate, while high, has been trending downward since the late 80s. It’s gone back up a little since Covid, but it’s still lower than it was 15 years ago. Crime rate trends are often exaggerated in order to justify more draconian policies and further militarization of the police

14:10 "unmasking" them would get the employee fired at the bare minimum. We have all sorts of stories today about employees being fired or charged with crimes for attempting to stop a theft. General modern store policy is to leave any robbery alone and do not involve yourself. And back to the earlier 0.2 point, these people can't be recorded to commit crimes if the police are not involving themselves. This is actually a common practice in some cities to reduce funding for police because will result in less crime statistics for your city.

The thing with 0.2% of criminals released is bogus when you consider that low level crime under $1000 was basically legalised. It basically meant the crime stat was low because they stopped classifying low level theft a crime, not because people didn't reoffend. As the saying goes there are "lies, damned lies and statistics" I appreciate you trying to take a balanced look but it's not possible to take a balanced stance in certain situations, particularly when state or mayoral policies are the driving force behind why departments are overcapacity in regards to dealing with crime. The myth that they are underfunded as being the reason they are failing is common but incorrect. It like a leaky bucket- you can keep putting more and more water in, but it'll inevitably never be enough because you aren't addressing why it's leaking.
Your reaction videos are what every reaction video should be. You add so much into them, and I love listening to your thoughts. About the varus though, my uncle was let out of San Quentin State Prison because of it. A very happy ray of sun on an otherwise stormy day.

It's more like Burn with a J after the B. Hopefully he'll pronounce this swedish name (Björn) like the swede he is.. why else would he pöck a nöme cöntaining Ö just to prönounce öt like ön ömericön?
@@solmoman Being from a Nordic country and hearing our English-speaking friends say things like Mjolnir and Bjork instead of Mjölnir and Björk is one of the very few things in this world that can get on my nerves. Especially in the case of Björk, it's actually a pretty-sounding name when pronounced properly instead of like something the Swedish chef from the Muppets might say. It doesn't annoy me THAT much or often to be fair, only when they mispronounce it with confidence.
There's a comment on the original video that made me about piss myself laughing. "This is real, unexaggerated history that I've lived through and it still feels like a shitpost"
14:00 considering it was in the middle of the Panini craze, likely there would have been not just the matter of risk of escalation, risk of assault, but also risk of contraction of the Panini. And nobody wants to be turned into a Panini. 19:26 I feel you on that one. I enjoy hanging with friends and hitting random conversations with strangers. But by nature I'm more hermit like. So this whole Panini situation did nothing to me. Hell, gas prices went down, the roads were so clear, traffic was always low. And since I'm fairly self reliant, there was little to no issues to be had. Oddly I think the quality of life I had increased during the Panini. 33:16 I can explain that oddity. It's because, amusingly enough, bars of soap can accumulate bacteria and be spread to others. Effectively it's only once you lather up that you actually get the beneficial effects of the soap, otherwise you're primarily getting the benefit from the running water. In effect, liquid soap helps to avoid that issue. You could also just wash your bar of soap after you use it and before you store it aside, that would help mitigate that issue. But say, for example, in a shared household. Sharing that bar of soap also means that you share what that bar of soap last touched, so if you're comfy with someone who finishes by soaping up their genitals before they toss the bar of soap elsewhere, that's your prerogative. If you live alone though, bar of soap or liquid soap means nothing, since you're only interacting with your own mess, so just go with the economical solution in that case.
much respect for shining some context on the sociological data of repeat offenders only being around 0.2% and not just diving full react Andy on the (admittedly fun) extreme cases
If I remember correctly, the reason the celebrities sang that sad song is because they were copying a video where a guy in Italy played the song on the trumpet on his balcony
The days of the initial onset of the Panini restrictions were amazing on my end. I walked the streets one weekend when most businesses were shut and couldn't operate, all our tourist attractions, and malls were deathly quiet with just bored shops attendants and nary any human traffic in and outside of establishments. We're a small state, so I captured a lot of our business district areas in one evening, void of people and cars, on camera.
Dankpods did a review on the Raycons a while ago, he's a massive Apple nerd and bought them with his own money. Maybe check that out if you'd like- He's also got a range of react worthy content :P
20:46 In case you're wondering about to pronounce "Björn", it's said like "Bee-urn". Think of the singer Björk, but with an "n" instead of a "k" at the end lol What's more sweet is that Björn means "Bear" in Swedish and Norwegian, soo happy for Felix and Marzia
Yeah, people that dislike Korone can't be human. BTW I wouldn't be too worried about butchering her name, she calls herself Ko'one after all, it's just a matter of remembering names in Japanese follow a very consonant pattern if it isn't a singular vowel. So Korone is Ko-Ro-Ne almost as if there is a period after each two letters.

recently found your channel from auto play while gaming, and ngl im subbing for your great opinions on stuff. super level headed
Speaking of those celebrities singing, why couldn't they have just made/commissioned a whole new song to fit exactly into the situation?
That's what we did in Finland with a whole bunch of people from the music industry coming together remotely for that. If anyone's interested the songs named Toivon kärki - Uuden edessä
The raycon earbuds are super generic. It's all marketing. Not a scam but definitely not Apple quality
1:30 I think that's Anor Londo. Specifically from dark souls 3 I believe.
As an employee of a retail pharmacy in the South East nothing really changed other than a new thing for people to whine about.
Most people dont know the 13th amendment makes slavery illegal 'except' in the use of punishment meaning imprisonment. Quite alot of goods are manufactured with Prison labour in the US which is why we would excuse the least amount of most countries. Larry Lawton has done a fare few videos over it.
The castle in the beginning is anor londo from dark souls 3
We will never forget the great Italian Sandwich crisis of 2020.
More people need to have the mindset of "I dont know enough about this to comment so I'm going to look it up" I respect the lack of false confidence😊
Americans are you okay guys? Great video Lila also you can use the read mode on the browser and it will often surpass the pay wall, keep them coming these are great 🥰
Hey, I really appreciate that you went out of your way to provide the facts on a divisive issue that could be used to polarize or "own" one side. That's the sort of thing I wish I saw creators do more often.
7:00 - FROM WHAT I RECALL, the REASON they were letting off the NON-VIOLENT offenders because the jails were OVERFLOWING!! I guess packing them in with standing-room only, with no way to provide basic necessities to all of them?? SMH...
1:32 That's Anor Londo, from Dark Souls.
Store employees could not just go up and take those people's masks or anything.
If they tried doing that THEY would be arrested for assault.
Yeah it's really stupid.
We missed you too Lyla! Wishing you the best. No RayCons don't compare. A bunch of people reviewed them and they essentially turned out to be a well marketed lie
I'd be interested to learn more about that... do you have the names of some people that reviewed them? I bought a pair myself over two years ago, and I'm still using them with no major issues so far, so if other brands are better I'd love to know about them.
(I'm not saying this to be contrarian, by the way. I'm genuinely curious and would like to know more)
@@nomad6628 DankPods and Mike O'Brien. I use Nothing Earbuds version 2 and they're incredible quality (for the price). Not as cheap as ScamCons of course but still decent price
The thing with 0.2% of criminals released is bogus when you consider that low level crime under $1000 was basically legalised.
It basically meant the crime stat was low because they stopped classifying low level theft a crime, not because people didn't reoffend.
As the saying goes there are "lies, damned lies and statistics"
I appreciate you trying to take a balanced look but it's not possible to take a balanced stance in certain situations, particularly when state or mayoral policies are the driving force behind why departments are overcapacity in regards to dealing with crime.
The myth that they are underfunded as being the reason they are failing is common but incorrect.
It like a leaky bucket- you can keep putting more and more water in, but it'll inevitably never be enough because you aren't addressing why it's leaking.
The black sheep is back🎉
Your reaction videos are what every reaction video should be. You add so much into them, and I love listening to your thoughts.
About the varus though, my uncle was let out of San Quentin State Prison because of it. A very happy ray of sun on an otherwise stormy day.
I felt that Washington Post rant.
43:10 lol Lila just covered Korone face behind her
"Damn. This isn't the freedom I wanted." 💀
I will now forever call the big bad thing that happened a bit ago “ *_THE PANINI_*
Also Pewds baby name is pronounced Byearn. All one syllable.
Edit: Thanks to all the Nordic people for correcting my Americanization of Björn. I now know ö sounds like /ə/.
It's more like Burn with a J after the B. Hopefully he'll pronounce this swedish name (Björn) like the swede he is.. why else would he pöck a nöme cöntaining Ö just to prönounce öt like ön ömericön?
More like "yearn", but with a b in front
@@TheNomad94 or stern with a b
@@TheNomad94 or fern with a b
@@solmoman Being from a Nordic country and hearing our English-speaking friends say things like Mjolnir and Bjork instead of Mjölnir and Björk is one of the very few things in this world that can get on my nerves. Especially in the case of Björk, it's actually a pretty-sounding name when pronounced properly instead of like something the Swedish chef from the Muppets might say.
It doesn't annoy me THAT much or often to be fair, only when they mispronounce it with confidence.
6:12
No it's the joke about everything requiring a license there lol
I love that every time you are saying the panini that you sound like a harry potter character casting a magic spell
If you live alone though, bar of soap or liquid soap means nothing, since you're only interacting with your own mess, so just go with the economical solution in that case.
i've been waiting for this lesgoo
much respect for shining some context on the sociological data of repeat offenders only being around 0.2% and not just diving full react Andy on the (admittedly fun) extreme cases
My experience with the panini is like "wait I do get a vacation? Lezz go!".
I remember another youtuber called it the coconut panini, glad to see she wasn't the only one.
31:00 It's 25 tons. Unless you count in strange measuring system
In my friend circle we had another name for the varus. The "Coronny".
Glad to see you again!
Dankpods did a review on the Raycons a while ago, he's a massive Apple nerd and bought them with his own money. Maybe check that out if you'd like- He's also got a range of react worthy content :P
i to live in ny and can confirm crime isn't as bad in the small country towns. is basically non-existent where i live.
Alright, so, that is Anor Londo, specifically, the Anor Londo that is represented in Dark Souls 3 at the time stamp of about 1:34
20:46 In case you're wondering about to pronounce "Björn", it's said like "Bee-urn". Think of the singer Björk, but with an "n" instead of a "k" at the end lol
What's more sweet is that Björn means "Bear" in Swedish and Norwegian, soo happy for Felix and Marzia
And Danish. Which considering Norwegian Bokmål is 95% or more copied Danish.. it is fairly obvious.
I thought it was to be pronounced "bue-yourn"
Yeah, people that dislike Korone can't be human. BTW I wouldn't be too worried about butchering her name, she calls herself Ko'one after all, it's just a matter of remembering names in Japanese follow a very consonant pattern if it isn't a singular vowel. So Korone is Ko-Ro-Ne almost as if there is a period after each two letters.
The fucking paywall for the washington post boils my blood. My Uni classes required journalist websites for topics, and i couldnt do my paper until i coughed up 12 bucks.
Nothin like relaxing with some food and watching lila react to stuff lol.😌
i wanted to say at 1:37 that is was drangleic castle from Dark souls 2 but no its anor londo from dark souls 3.
Democracy often dies in cheers and applause.
Soap bars can be dirtier than the hands needing to be washed liquid soap is only dirty on the pump
OH HEY! I've seen the American Politics out of context!!!! They're hilarious. Honestly the only awesome thing I've seen of American Politics in recent memory.
33:35 how little are you bathing that a bar of soap lasts you half a year? That shit goes faster than liquid soap in my shower.
