Ok
I will watch them
Great review bro
Heading to watch those after this. Can't wait to watch 8,9 and 10 of Fargo tomorrow too :D
The point is Lalo knows about Werner. Hence Werner is dead.
The writing is insane. The weight of the line “worthy of the name McGill” and then the first thing he does is change his name is such a great twist.
Wow that's genius I didn't even think of this! Thanks for pointing this out. This show is amazing
He removed the dirt he would be doing away from the name so that's smth I guess
And basically call Kim a sucker.
When it comes to Jimmy's sincerity, Brandon is like Charlie Brown trusting Lucy to hold the football.
Lmfao 🤣
When Brandon was saying he’s never seen Jimmy be 100% genuine, I was like “Yeeeaaaaaaaa about that…..” 😬
Seriously he gets suckered in by jimmy every time.
😂
AAUGH!
The biggest victim of Jimmy's scams is Brandon 😂
“First time in a long time he is being 100% sincere and honest“
Oh Brandon…
I went through the same rollercoaster. Damn this show is good, and it only gets better.
Saul really got him 😅
That one asshole was crying actual tears!
I read this while looking at your profile pic
@@Watsuda I felt like I was that asshole. I was still reeling from Werner's death scene, and that was probably the plan in the writing. Get me vulnerable, and then pull a Slippin' Jimmy moment on me.
"He's my brother-in-law and I'm worried about him." Sounds familiar.
mind explaining? i don't quite get it
@@Rudi.418 Hank’s line maybe?
@@Rudi.418 ZeroTolerence0 has answered correctly for me. Poor old Hank and that wily in-law of his, Walt.
@@toddthechimeralinguist oh yeah that is right! thank you both. wow that line now hits harder lol

Lalo has the ruthlessness of the Salamancas, capabilities of Mike and the charisma/intimidation of Gus. Writing for the character is amazing, but Tony Dalton kills it with his acting.
He's amazing
I *love* that description.
Lalo is such a great character. There's a such menace behind that smile of his.
And he's really good at jumping from things.
@@LukeSecaur A way more charming and intimidating version of Spiderman, then! 😄 He says it about someone else (don't wanna spoil), but he's the real one 😆
Werner's death really upset me for such a minor character. He was a genuinely decent innocent man who just missed his wife and probably didn't grasp the severity of what he was involved in until it was much too late. I think it impacted Mike too as his own son was also killed for knowing too much and the risk of what he might expose. He became what he hated in having to murder an innocent man.
This is the episode when Michael became Mike
Interestingly, Jimmy breaking down in his car almost had nothing to do with Chuck dying. Bob Odenkirk stated that he saw that scene as Jimmy McGill suffocating under the final realization that all of his assumptions that he could redeem himself in other people's eyes despite his checkered past led to nothing. In the end, he succumbs to what people see him as: the guy guilty people hire.
Odenkirk says that his breakdown was the death throes of Jimmy McGill. Jimmy dies in that scene and something is born in his place: Saul Goodman.
Didn’t know that wow
Huh. That reminds me of how people say that walt turns into heisenberg when he screams in crawl space. Probably a coincidence but still interesting.
Idk there are alot of people deemed "guilty" that are actually innocent.
When it comes to law it's not "good vs bad" becusse people do terrible things under the guise of legality and alot of people do good things that the law doesn't want people do like Mlk Jr
So this assumption that all people who are charged by the corrupt state are guilty is one sided. Plenty of good people were put in prison for trying to treat their kids hundreds of seizures with cannabis oil and the big pharma executives point the finger at the "guilty" while killing millions legally
@@jayhollows5729 You're thinking about it too much. The "guilty people" in "the guy guilty people hire" refers to actual criminals, not just people who are deemed guilty by the state.
So that's his crawl space
Jimmy was so obsessed with getting one over on the “suckers,” he didn’t even see that he made Kim one.
Yup he assumed Kim knew he was putting on a show
Jimmy tried to be genuine and the board denied him. The only path to success as he sees it is to lie and bend the truth. He wanted to be a lawyer and couldn’t do it without faking it a bit. He wasn’t trying to “get one over”,he just wanted to be a lawyer.
@@carsonwentz8301 Most of what you said is true but Saul's entire act in that scene was literally the definition of getting one over on them.
@@comeatmebro8120 Still, it was the last resource for him, since being honest had a shitty result... He gave them the teary eyed, corny fake shit they wanted. His dad, society and Chuck turned Jimmy into Saul. He saw himself and Kim being fucked over for working fair and following the rules. I agree with @Carson Wentz
@@comeatmebro8120 don't think he even considered that..............
The editing in this episode does something really phenomenal - Mike's story takes place over a single day, but Jimmy's takes place over an entire week, and yet the show cuts them together so seamlessly you don't even notice it really (because the time of day/progression of story matches up)
Holy shit you’re right. That’s amazing
Just didn't even realized it until now. Great observation., and yes, amazing editing... BCS keeps getting better and better with each view
I didn’t even notice that wtf
The reveal that Jimmy was lying in the courtroom is one of the biggest gut punches I've seen in a television show. Phenomenal acting to sell that scene.
For sure.
Don’t blame him chuck is a D bag
The thing is, we know that none of those were truly lies. Everything Jimmy said in there was true, and he's just lying to himself by thinking that it wasn't.
I noticed that in Werner’s last moments in his exchange with mike is identical to his exchange with Walter in season 3 episode 12 when they were going to kill Walter he also asked and begged to talk to Gus to make him understand they made a mistake and they’ll make it up to him while mike knew Gus was having that . The only difference is that Werner’s accepted his fate while Walter ordered the murder of gale to save his and Jesse’s life . Also what’s strange is that Werner Ziegler shares his first name with Werner Heisenberg, the German physicist who was the source of Walter White's alias in Breaking Bad for his infamous name Heisenberg . Also one more thing what's strange is that mike kills a man named werner and is killed by a man named Heisenberg
This is really good thanks!
their shows are full of these connections and I learn more every week or month through comments like this one :)
thank you random "random facts" guy :)
Also, Werner's call to his wife resembles the call Walter makes to Skyler at the end of Ozymandias
It's like poetry, it rhymes...
@@jamesonblues Wow, that’s fucking amazing. In a way, Mike’s first big sin came back in the end to bite him. The writing for this universe never stops amazing me.
Michael......is that you?
*CHILLS* every damn time.
LOVE that 2 seconds :D
Jesus this episode is do damn good. How did Lalo become a fan favorite in like 8 minutes of screen time. Tony Dalton and the writers of the show are spectacular
Shows how freaking smart Lalo is
18:56 Haha Jimmy fooled our Brandon once again🤦♂️😂😂
that one asshole was crying actual tears! 😅
😂
The scene where Chuck and Jimmy sing together always gets me teary eyed. They were brothers and they really did love each other.
Exactly. I saw a lot of people believed the fact that Chuck didn't really care about Jimmy. He lied cuz he hated him at that time and he was stressed out. Chuck actually loved Jimmy, but not Slippin' Jimmy.
The only people surprised that Chuck has a good singing voice are the people who haven't seen This is Spinal Tap.
Or A Mighty Wind.
let's not forget Lenny & The Squigtones
I love those fake documentaries.
Is there out takes of him singing Stonehenge or gimme some money?
I'd love to see Brandon react to This is Spinal Tap.
"Hopefully no character deaths"
"Anyway, about Werner..."
Great start to the video :D
And technically the death of Jimmy McGill too.
@@stevemccullagh36 And a death of Mike's last shred of innocence within Fring's organization. This is where he became a true Enforcer for Gus, and Jimmy became Saul. This show is too good.
In real life Bob Odenkirk is at least an ok singer, so his ability to sound like the perfect amount of "bad at karaoke" is perhaps an overlooked aspect of his performance.
Remember that finger gun motion when you get to season 5
Never have finger guns gave me such complicated feelings
The cinematography with Mike shooting Werner in the desert was *chef's kiss.
One of the best episodes in the series for sure!

Jimmys speech to Cristi is a mirror to when Jimmy was a kid and learned from the dude who scammed his dad. “You are either the sheep or the wolf.”
It was awesome to see Brandon believing Jimmy during his whole speech!
I burst out laughing when Brandon got angry
Yeah awesome reaction !!
19:10 "He can't keep getting away with it!!!"
So excited for season 5, Lalo keeps stealing the show!
Mike's son was killed not for what he had done but for what he might do. The transformation is complete when Mike kills Werner not for what he had done but for what he might do.
This. This comment is it
What a great guy Lalo is, putting that man to sleep so he can rest from his work.
The ending of this episode shows perfectly how dead inside Jimmy has become... and I LOVE IT!
In the opening scene when Jimmy is doing karaoke, behind him are a moon and balloons. As Gene, he is reading The Moon's a Balloon during his lunch break from Cinnabon! Mike "foils" Lalo. More Lunar symbology, on Christie's dress there are space rockets.
Gnomes actually, not rockets.
Werner didn’t call anyone but his wife, he most likely asked for the laser tool and they gave it to him, cause it’s a construction tool and it also takes cameras out.
"did you see that one asshole? he had actual tears"
Brandon: 🥺
I love how Jimmy cons the jury AND a good part of the audience. Just like Kim, I got very teary-eyed as well. Jimmy conned me. That moment is SO. WELL. DONE.
I never bought it personally but I see how people could have
I literally told myself to never trust him whenever he gets emotional in front of a crowd, and he still got me
There is literally only one flaw in this episode:
not enough Nacho.
But hey, at least the next season has plenty of him!
There was actually supposed to be a scene where Nacho contacts Mike or something to try to warn him about Lalo, but Mike is too worried about Werner and didn't want anything to do with it at that moment. It makes more sense that Mike would realize that it was Lalo tailing him later on. I think the scene was cut because the episode was too long.
Yep, there's never enough Nacho! He's amazing, but this show has so many brilliant characters that I can't pinpoint if Nacho, Kim, Mike, Gus or Lalo are my absolute favorite 😄😅 Damn it!
Of course Chuck has a brilliant voice. He was at one point the singer in the greatest heavy metal band of all time
Spinal Tap is awesome, great lyrics too. Give me some money, listen to the flower people and tonight I’m gonna rock you tonight are great!
No one mentions Saul's incredible vocal development between passing the bar and singing Bali Hai to Kim on the answering machine.
Honestly I think Jimmy is being sincere in a lot of these moments. Just not to himself. They say the best lies are those that have some truth in them. I think Jimmy has been actually feeling all of these things he brings up in his lies but stuffs them down inside himself. It's not who he wants to be, it's not what he wants to deal with so he bottles it all up. In these moments he channels what he has actually been feeling and lets it out to sell whatever point he wants. When it's done he says it was all an act when in truth it's not. He doesn't want to admit he feels the things he does so he tells himself he's lying to everyone. Sure he's great at making shit up but the best lies have some truth in them.
Yeah I feel the same...what he said was true, but he had to tell people "no, I was just fooling you", and even to himself...because it is too unbearable to face all that feeling...........
if you've never seen Spinal Tap, chuck's actor michael mckean shows some more singing (and ofc comedic) skills in that
Chuck turned it up to 11 in that opening scene.
It's all good, man!
If you're not aware by now, Michael McKean, Chuck's actor, has been in comedy for literal decades, just like Bob Odenkirk who was a writer for SNL starting in 1987. Arguably McKean's most notable role was playing David St. Hubbins, the lead singer of the fictional band Spinal Tap. All this to say that Chuck can sing damn well.
Sauls last scene in breaking bad when he’s talking to Walter is the only time jimmy McGill made an appearance in the show
According to Bob Odenkirk, Jimmy also surfaces when he's talking to Jesse in the car after having handed money over to Andrea
I felt like he also surfaced during Confessions, when Jesse holds him at gunpoint and he’s left begging for his life.
I love how jimmy always manages to fool you, kudos to bob for it.
"Finally he became Saul Goodman"
Me: Yeah, I also used to think that...
Oh dude, knowing what was coming, it was magical watching you buying Jimmy’s “heartfelt” speech. The reaction payoff was perfect and I could feel how I felt when I first saw it.
Michael McKean (Chuck actor) is a phenomenal musician. He actually has a Grammy for a song he wrote for the movie A Mighty Wind. And he's one-third of the legendary Spinal Tap (which is a movie you MUST watch). Not to mention his other music for Lenny & The Squigtones, The Folksmen, and so on. He's a legend.
"Did you see those suckers? That one asshole was crying" love this line, if you teared up during the scene it speaks directly to you
"Did you see that asshole, he had actual tears" I think Jimmy was talking about Brandon lol
It’s almost unbelievable how Brandon gets suckered in by jimmy every single time. Brandon still was holding out hope that jimmy cared about chuck. 🤦♀️
Omg dude you've fallen for every single one of Jimmies fake sincerity lol
Bob acted the shit out of that audit, so i can't blame him.
On the other hand the line being "worthy of the name McGill" gave it away for me.
2:37 Hey Brandon, everyone is mentioning Spinal Tap, but if you want a real kick then do a UA-cam search for "Lenny and the Squigtones".
“Did you see those suckers that one asshole was crying” has me dead every time lmaoo
Jimmy’s speech at the end completely fooled me. I thought he was sincere and was shocked that it was a put on. I guess I shouldn’t have been but he was just too good.
I was also fooled when I first saw the show back in 2017 and it kind of broke the fourth wall in a way. Loved Brandon's reaction to the facade.
I didn’t buy it from the jump but I get why folks did
@@matthewfortuna3443 same,
Poor Brandon gets tricked by Jimmy more than Kim does.
Can’t remember if you’ve watched “This is Spinal Tap” but Michael Mckean turns it up to 11 in it
Why didn't he just make 10 louder and make 10 be the top number and make that a little louder?
@@TomMerson... These go to 11
@@alexwilkins463 “I find e minor to be the saddest of all keys. I don’t know why but people instantly weep when they hear it”

If you like Chuck's singing, you gotta watch Spinal Tap. It's Michael McKean's greatest work, and a cultural classic.
Probably my most re-watched episode of BCS. It feels like a movie to me. So many pivotal moments. Who would've thought that giving out scholarships to worthy kids would be so important to the birth of Saul.
Jimmy caught me ONCE again, his speech at the end felt so genuine, I had forgotten that it wasn’t at all.
That’s just great acting, man.
Werner to his wife: "No I didn't do it. I can't now, it's gotta be you. Listen, you're closer than they are. You'll have about a 20 minute lead. They've got me in the desert and they're going to kill me."
"That one asshole was crying."
Jimmy talking about Brandon. 😂😂😂
I really liked your 20000 puzzle pieces analogy. That moment at the end got me just like you did, such great acting.
Every time I watch the episode, there are three times I tear up without fail
Jimmy to Kim: "I can say whatever I want, to the board I'm still...that guy"
Mike to Werner: "Nothing you say or do will make anyone trust you again"
Speaking of Spinal Tap, let’s not forget that Clifford Main (of Davis & Main) was their legendary drummer John “Stumpy” Pepys (who died in a bizarre gardening accident 😁)
19:05 *slowly breaking Brandom's heart* hahahahaha
"I'll do everything in my power to be worthy of the name McGill"
proceeds to immediately change his name.
I was ALMOST fooled by Jimmy’s speech. Up until he wanted to live up to the name and never had the chance to tell Chuck how he felt. I knew that was bs. When Chuck said he never cared about him after Jimmy took care of him night and day, Chuck was dead to him. As it should be. I don’t blame him at all for feeling nothing about his brother and understand his anger that, even in death, his brother is effecting his livelihood.
I overlooked that moment and realized it 30 seconds too late. Chuck's last words were indeed poorly chosen, even if they weren't sincere.
I don't think that was quite it. To me, the moment Jimmy really breaks is when he is talking to Hamlin after the funeral and he learns that he may have contributed to Chuck's suicide. I think he just snaps.
@@MClapYourHands I think it was dirty, and Jimmy's way to offload his guilt, and maybe it was a stepping stone, but I don't think it was enough. He still had opportunities to "learn and grow" throughout season 4, and yet he killed every chance he got until in the end he played the world for suckers to get his law license back.
Someone please get this man to react to Mr. Robot and Arrested Development
Oh man This season had so many good moments in it and so does the next season. I hope it meets your expectations and mor.
Watching you break down everything as it happens and predict a lot of it is amazing and makes me realize how passively I watch things, just absorbing and still missing most of it. You're the best at this I've seen and I wish you much success.
Just had a 10 hour shift with just a 20 minute break. Cant wait to unwind to this, love or reactions so much!
Chuck wasn't single, he just spent the night at Jimmy's house
The writers were like, "Lalo is the last villain we're gonna have in the Breaking Bad universe, let's give him all the qualities. Make him smart, intimidating, ruthless, great conversation skills, uber charismatic.... What else? Oh yes, superhuman athletic ablities."
Giancarlo Esposito was injured in a skiing accident halfway through season 4. That's the reason why you see him sitting a lot this season and not very mobile this season.
I’m really hoping the final scene of this show is Walter White walking into Saul’s office for the first time.
Oh hell no. This show has to be its own show instead of just "the prequel". Personally I think a moment like that would undermine the show in a way. Also, we're still 4-5 years away from the start of Breaking Bad, chronologically wise, and I don't think season 6 is gonna cover that much time.
@@CaptainOfGames Realistically it has to, to finish the Gene story. I doubt they've teased that the entire show to simply resolve it with another season intro, it has to blend with the current timeline at some point, ala Walt and season 5, or the Airplane crash in S2 of BB.
@@mediocreplays8368 no it doesn't.
Better Call saul sets jimmy up for doing a risky things. Look at him now, he's a "friend to the cartel".
Only thing Gene has to do is say in the black-and-white footage "I got wrapped up with some bad people". The non BB audience may assume it was cartel related. Which is actually perfect. So it set intrigue to go back and watch BB. They will see jimmy pleading for his life, thinking it was Lalo's people.....the cartel...just what the audience assumed.....but nope, no Lalo. Just a 50 year old man with cancer and a young adult who likes to say "bitch". lmfao. Perfect.
Brandon is such a pure soul, Jimmy stays getting him 😂😂😂 never change Brandon !
That scene where he said he wasn’t being genuine really hurt me :(
brandon at 19:08 must’ve been thinking “HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH ITTTTT”
That shot with Werner walking away is one of the most beautiful in all of television. Masterpiece stuff
Ya ain't seen nothing yet!

I remember we were all waiting from day 1 when would Jimmy become Saul Goodman the lawyer. Then this episode came on with the its'all good man 👉🏻👉🏻 with the most sociopathic look in his face and, at I swear we were all like Kim. That scene never fails to send shivers down my spine.
I really look forward to these uploads. Makes my work go faster
sigh, brandon your heart is too pure lol jimmy always foolin ya
22:17 Has anyone counted how many times did Brandon predict Kim and Jimmy's breakup? 😄😅
Love it!!
As usual, they really pulled out the stops for the season finale. The whole scene with Mike and Werner in the desert is so well done but it really hit me hard to see Mike take that massive step into the darkness. Jimmy's scene is just a masterclass in pulling the rug from under the feet of the audience too.
Bring on Season 5!
This show is one of the best things I've ever watched
"Chuck has quite the nice voice". He was actually in a rock band called "Spinal Tap". He definitely has musical skills.
Been waiting for this one awhile my guy.
At 15:40, the scene between Gus and Werner...one of the saddest moments in the BB/BCS universe. The actor playing Werner plays it just right.
The amazing thing about this show (and BB) is that it has layers and layers of how to understand characters' personalities. On the surface it makes you think Chuck is the bad guy. But when you think about it, Chuck's conduct had always been good when it comes to respecting the law, and Jimmy had always been a crook. When you think about it, all the negative aspects of Chuck's personality were created by Jimmy's actions actually. For example, Chuck's hypersensitivity to electricity appears to be the response to Jimmy's undeserved popularity, like Chuck's subconsciousness created it to gain attention. And everything else wrong about Chuck seems to be a result of Jimmy's wrongdoing, which goes back to their mother loving Jimmy more, despite Jimmy stealing money from the father. That's why Chuck always felt he was the loser undeservingly. When he grabs that microphone and sigs 'The winner takes it all'... Oh man... Such a great scene!
I’ve waited so long for this 😌
Loving the new camera/setup ;)
always found it interesting kristie was "working with elders" when they asked her in the montage. pairs perfectly with jimmy's elder law stint
The actor playing Lalo was great as Neagans right hand man in “The Walking Dead”
That’s not the same actor.
I love the moment Jimmy tells that girl ‘you make them suffer, cause you don’t matter all that much to them’. He can change his name, he can run away from his feelings and bury them down forever, he can retreat into becoming everything Chuck hated and predicted Jimmy would be, but in the end, those last words from his brother scarred him for life. And you’d almost be forgiven for thinking Jimmy didn’t care at all about that, or Chuck’s death, but there it is. The small reminder that it’s eating him up inside every day until there’s nothing left of him.
Probably one of if not my fav episode of bcs or all TV, every scene works so well in both subplots and Bob odenkirks acting actually made me angry that he didn't win an emmy
The intro scene to this episode has, in my opinion - the greatest shot in the entire series.
Both Chuck and Jimmy lying side by side in the bed, and both their heads are shrouded in total darkness. It's the last shot before the theme song begins.
So incredibly powerful.
I love the college-student media trio. They add so much ... "up to no good, but fun!" to the show.
Of course Chuck’s got a great voice, he was in the band spinal tap, which you have to watch their documentary, and then start down the Christopher Guest, documentaries which he is in, Michael McKean is awesome
Christopher Guest is a comedic God.
18:55 lol its almost like Jimmy laughed at Brandon (Jimmy got me too back then). I feel like we should start calling him Saul by now lol
I’ve been watching all of your BCS reactions to refresh on this amazing show before getting to watch Season 5 (I can’t find it online for free and am having to stop here for now)
