Damn, i feel like Resort became my favorite Skee Mask album immediately after I listened to it & even after repeated listens, but it seems like everyone else I talk to about it isn't as keen on it as I am.
I am! It's his best release easily, to me!!!
I've only listened to Resort once all the way through and I think we have similar opinions. This will need more time on my end, but I do generally like it overall. I think part of my slightly lukewarm feelings on it are that it came out after Pool, one of my favorite electronic albums of the 2020s so far.

Yeaaah this album did the same for me, second half much more ear grabbing than the first, and I love his ambient side also. Some of the stuff from his A,B,C unmastered albums could have been used in the begining half of this album to make it a much better album listening experience.
And you must listen to the E.P's! ISS010 is almost an album in itself and has a large amount of bangers.

His production quality on resort is crazy. Even the “boring” ambient songs. If you really listen in. Well layered and mixed in a way that’s nothing but professional. All of his music is pretty great. Nice review.
Despite the likely on-purpose drowsy start, the album still achieves the smooth and immersive listening experience I was expecting from him. Even more, I like that he didn't go the obvious way and instead developed his ambient side further. Now, when it comes to the highlights, I especially love Schneider's Paradox, Vitamin 313, and Hölzl Was A Dancer. The latter even feels like a beachy, funkier version of Deepchord's usual style; I love that.
For more of his ambient stuff, i recommend the EP Iss006. A favorite.
A while ago You did a review of all Autechre EPs. I think Skee Mask is a perfect candidate to revisit this idea :) There's a whole new world out there on ISS series for Ilian Tape. Each EP is a sonic trip of its own, almost like mini-albums.
After sitting on this one for a few days, I think I can definitely say it's a grower for me. Even if I think it's a tad front-loaded, I've been listening to Resort a lot more now than when it came out.

I think I agree.. To my ears he is carrying the torch for creating these kinds of sounds at a very high and modern level.

My thoughts and enjoyment of Resort I think are very similar to how I went with Mu-Ziqs 1977, initially finding a few highlights upon first listen but overall finding the whole album to be a bit lackluster but over time becoming more resonant and finding more enjoyment in individual tracks, highlighting the album's consistency. Maybe not as much as 1977 but I still think the album holds up enough to be deemed essential in some way, shape or form.
Element is absolutely beatiful
I was a lil disappointed with this one. There wasnt much range and i just found it hard to emotionally connect with these tracks

I love ambient music, but I’m not coming to Skee mask for it. This album is nice, but I think Pool is gonna be the one I remember from him. Kinda set this one up for disappointment unfortunately
