You can't get shanks? Here's something to consider, 3D printing. You could print nylon, ABS, ASA, and they're very durable. You could have them designed however you see fit by whomever creates them in the software.
Hope someone can help with some info on Can Post boots? Wondering where they were made. They only say Can Post on heels. Only size and numbers on inside. Soles are sewn and wood pegs used no metal ones. Look vintage to me.. Got them at second hand store. Think there cow hide.
@@CobblersPlus I have a double H boot, but the shaft is worn out,but from the tongue and down below it is in brand new condition..Is it possible to replace the shaft?
I’ve seen that. Long term when it’s to to resole it’s always not fun dealing with the cloth if it’s really stuck. Roughing up the shank has the same outcome but even if glue fails there are no smooth surfaces on the shank for it to slide
I had a new pair of work boots (Made in China Danners) that squeaked when walking. Someone recommended and I tried putting some foot powder inside and that. stopped the squeak. It appeared that the insole had gaps etc. Just passing it on....
@@CobblersPlus Yes I noticed that boot....I was very surprised that boot (was it a Justin) had those issues...I was interested in seeing your "squeak troubleshooting"...I was just passing on to others (and you also did mention a "loose insole" as a likely cause) for their benefit. THANKS for the videos!! I hope to mail you some shoes to repair one day.
Very nice job. How much does this particular repair cost? I’m looking to have a pair of mine done. I don’t know if it will make a difference in price due to them being snake skin.
Is the any way for people who wear the toe area of the sole leather out faster on their boots to make them last longer, especially if they don’t wear out the rest of the outsole as quickly? Nice job. 👍
Hey Allen are those Jeremiah boots again, put on rubber half soles for extra wear….lol.. Alan winterize those boots for Jeremiah like add like a nice rug at hassle Manno talking about before the arch on the tip of the shows the ball of the foot I’ve done that to three pairs of compliments and really cool
Beautiful job! Never realized all the work that goes into the making of boots. Why don't they ruff up the shank from the beginning to hold the glue better? You guys are great, how much do you charge for your work? Excellent video
I know this video is a year old, but if your foot is squeaking against the liner leather, I have had success using a 200+ grit sandpaper to rough up the leather slightly. I probably wouldn't do it to a pigskin lining but I would also recommend you don't buy a boot with that lining.
Alan I’m giving my cobbler a chance to fix those Birkenstocks laser suede shoes made in Portugal so long to resolve those damn but once I resolve but they’re gonna put on not the Birkenstocks original Saul cutter too thick for these ones and I still think what he going to put on us to Bridget but they’re going to fix it and fix it for free so I’ll see how it goes from there I’ll keep you up-to-date
Yeah Dan Post boots used to be great. They're crap now. I've had to have my last 3 pairs resoled in less then a year. Their uppers are still good quality, but damn, my last $450 pair of ostrich needed resoling after only 3 months. I mean come on, that's ridiculous.
I heard that their quality has gone down so much to the point that people don't recommend them anymore which is sad to see. Saw a guy resole his boots after a month of wear bc of how quickly the sole came apart
Alan, your videos are always informative, HOWEVER, the volume of your intro music becomes noise, which covers your comments!! It is always good when it ends and your part begins. DJ
Awesome transformation my friend. And thank you for you great customer service in regards to selling Saphir products....Be well . Greetings from The communist state of California !!
❤ I tried the baking soda method in a brand new pair of platform shoes and the squeaking was reduced tremendously

Oop. Not Can Post, Dan Post on heels..
Is the footbed a leather footbed topped with cushion?
Most Dan posts are now fiber board only a few here and there are leather

I saw once on another shoe repair channel, the guy used a piece of cloth glued to the shank to avoid squeaking

Say me please, in Dan Post 2110 Milwaukee, stacked heel or bonded..??
Dan post with a plastic shank is that common?
They look fantastic and I love the heel pitch.
Hi, I just watched this video and at one point you said you don’t like heel protectors. Can you tell why? Thanks.

That does happen often when your foot sweats. These had parts that squeaked

On average full soles start at about $170 right now
Where do we get those boot DAN POST heels?
Great video thanks!
Wouldn't wrapping the shank in cloth solve the squeaking and hold the shank in place ?

Yes, your cobbler can add toe plates (Lulu's, etc.).
