    With Tamariz the thing is... he is way better when he performs in spanish. He speaks usually very very fast and in an energetic and funny way. When he speaks in english... he clearly underperforms a little bit, imho.

    • @arleco12
      @arleco12 6 років тому +5

      Exactly. He looses some then he performs in english, and he is a little old in this video. You must see him a few years ago AND in spanish to fully see his mastery and the way he manages the audience. Dany Da Ortiz learnt a lot from him.

    • @Trikipum
      @Trikipum 2 роки тому +1

      Not really, there are videos of him performing in the 80s in english and he is the same than in spanish. It is the age for the most i think. He simply lacks the energy he had 40 years ago but he is still a freaking master.

    You picked the simplest Tamariz video possible to react to. Any magician can figure this one out. The one you should react to is a 2 parter at magic-con 2010 (I believe). The man borrows decks (plural) and blows away 100+ magicians watching. That, his FISM act from 1973 (in Spanish), and for a short video - “the 3 of clubs.” The latter is the coolest color change I’ve ever seen. If it’s not a gimmick, you could watch at 1/1000th speed and it still looks like real magic.

      Jackson deShazo hmmm well I never met either of them and I wasn't really alive at their time but I think no it's not true. Vernon was probably the better magician. As a cardician perhaps it is true Marlo was superior, his skill with cards was prodigious, but there's more to magic than sleight of hand. They were both legends tho. Btw can you recommend a good triumph to learn?

    its easy to see what hes doing in the video because you have the luxury of controlling the pace by rewinding or slowing it down. In the moment however he has all the control and this is where magic is supposed to be performed

    It is performed as an act, but it is an actual game that scammers do on the streets in Europe, especially Italy and Spain, but I've seen it in Germany and UK too, they will always have a "partner" that acts like a normal bystander, bets real money and wins, to encourage real bystanders to play. That's where the scam triggers, the card dealer will never lose. They even use the "bent corner" technique to make it look as fair as possible, but the video shows clearly how, when he's showing the bent corner to the audience, he's simultaneously bending the corner of one of the clip-cards. Then they proceed to deal the wrong card very quickly.
    It's nice to see it as an act, not as nice when you actually get robbed blind on the streets 😂

    Everyone knows that casinos have a very small margin of advantage but that small margin multiplied by the thousands of players keeps them in business. So if YOU can cut that small advantage your chances of winning increase exponentially. I am fascinated by cards and tricks and averages etc and live in NYC .. so a sunday walk through central park will have up at least 5, 3 card monte games going. One day I stopped to watch and I was blown away how the dealers could do what they did. Watching longer it was not that the dealer was winning but that YOU were losing ..... These guys had lightning hands. I realized that the BAIT is BLATANT , so clear you havethere SO clear YOUR card HAS to be a X position there. Nope it aint.
    I do play chess and the best chess players seem to give the game away with a sacrifice and it just dawn on me.I never take the sacrifice. (unless is an obvious blunder) so I went up to the cardboard table and asked to play .."Sure .... ( that dealer was hungry) I said I was a noob and he said "Ok I will go SLOW........"
    and he did .. and I figured the card was in the center . I also figured "THAT" cented card was the card he wanted me to take. He was GIVING ME $10.00 , no one is that stupid but a lotta people are greedy \ so to his surprise I chose a side card and put my hand on it. LET him keep his center card... ANd he lost , and of course he did not want to pay and I rather have a full working body than to fight over $10.00
    So . the key to 3 card monte is NEVER bet on the card you think is the winning card . Let the guy go crazy . Over time the odds begin to go on your favor because of frustration of the dealer and his possy making fun of him.
    I would not recommend this as a way to augmenting your income but it is a GREAT way to teach a bunch of people a lesson and make the dealer consider a different career.

    Nice videos man, I just subscribe, keep It up. And btw, you wonder at minute 7:11 he said in spanish: "I said 'partner' so you can see I'm good" (As a reference of his "high level" of english) When he makes a show in spanish is not that boring tbh, but Juan trying to speak english makes him boring maybe. Great magician, one of the best of my country imo, greetings from Spain!

    Tamariz is of course technically incredible, one of the masters but I just can't get past the stumbling and mumbling, makes him so hard to watch. I only lasted around 25 minutes of his Penguin Live performance before frustration and boredom took over.

    I know Tamariz is a master, but I also think he's kinda boring to watch.

    Umm personally that was horrible, I do magic so I have respect for this routine, but here's the deal anyone that does magic pick up on what he was doing, please more Penn&Taller.

      You need to remember magic is for spectators, not magicians. Nowadays as magicians we want everything to be commercial, to fool us, but really we overlook a lot of classics. This type of routine can really kill in real life.
